I read the Handmaid tale many years ago but atm wasn't that struck by it compared to other books of the period and havent seen the Tv version ..it has got v hyped up and somehow I do wonder if Atwood has jumped on the bandwagon by now publishing a follow up. But I've not read it, maybe it is worth the booker. Trouble withme is that I get stubborn on book reading sometimes and if a book is to hyped up ( such as the Elenor Ferrantes which was lauded to be a narrativebased on real event s by an unknown person but turned out to be by a journo in the end ) ..
Im a huge book reader, but probably also a huge book snob really !! GrinGrin

twosoups1972 · 15/10/2019 10:04

And yes what a turn up for the joint Booker prize! I saw both winners on the news last night, they were lovely and complimentary about the other.

Dd2 is a big fan of Handmaid's tale and wants to read the new one.

@wildhairdontcare welcome, looking forward to chatting with you Smile And love your username btw!

Laska2Meryls · 15/10/2019 10:08

Never no ,much ad I like the OB skirt , those bias cut silky ones dont suit me, I think you need to be moreof an hour glass shape to make them look good and im just not sadly

Sooverthemill · 15/10/2019 10:26

@twosoups sorry! Those boots are fab aren't they? I do get footwear in their sale ( 2 lots of boots and trainers in the spring which are perfect for now). I love their trousers and knitwear and the double layer t shirts. But now I dont work I really do not need stuff like that.

Sooverthemill · 15/10/2019 10:30

@Laska2Meryls I'm a book snob too and read a lot ( less than I used to when I commuted) and alternate between literary fiction and other stuff. ATM I'm so knackered I'm struggling so tending to read page turner stuff but regret it nearly every time! Would love to know what you have read recently

twosoups1972 · 15/10/2019 10:36

I would love some book recommendations. I don't read enough and only really get into a book on holiday.

Dd2 is a huge reader and inspires me! I'm currently reading The Help which I'm enjoying. But I find I don't really know where to start with books. I feel I SHOULD be reading classics but don't always enjoy them.

Sooverthemill · 15/10/2019 10:51

We could start a Hushita's book thread in 'what we are reading'?

SoyYo · 15/10/2019 11:13

I like historical fiction (Philippa Gregory series), and inspiring tales like those by Paulo Cohello.
I also read alternative spiritual and astrology books which probably won’t appeal so much to you all Wink
Every time I go to Spain I buy a few by Spanish speaking authors because after 39 years in GB (I rarely speak Spanish to anyone here) I find my mother tongue fluency can go downhill...not every day language but more literary language if you understand what I mean.
I’m always a bit behind the curve when it comes to bestsellers though and right now really enjoying Sapiens A Brief History of Humankind by Y.N.Harari. I’ve decided I’ll read all his books once I finish this one. Love!
I think in a parallel life I would have been very happy as a Social Historian or Anthropologist...

@wildhairdontcare Welcome! Love Kensingtons although sadly I had to return the red long sleeved one as the length this season almost touched the ground and swamped me but I have 2 from previous seasons and hoping the green one will be on the sale to try sometime soon. Also I’m pleased I’m no longer the only one with totally mad hair on this thread! Grin

I’m not looking at Jigsaw! Last time I did ended up buying far too much in their sale 🙈

Laska glad you kept the Bloomsbury dress in the end, it really suits your shape.

neveradullmoment99 · 15/10/2019 12:34

Ok so just measured my dd for her second bra. [ she is only 12 bless] She is 27 under her bust and she is 29 across the bust itself. She is currently wearing a bra [ soft one] that is a 28AA. What size should i be getting her? A 28B? [ She cant get a 27 so needs a size up to 28 under bust] Or maybe a 28A?

twosoups1972 · 15/10/2019 14:14

@never difficult to tell although we generally wear cup sizes too small and back sizes too big! Can you get a section to try? Debenhams are good for non underwired bras. My dds like Boux Avenue if you have one near you but you can order online from there too. My 12 year old wears this:

twosoups1972 · 15/10/2019 14:15

Bother, I ordered a Hush fine Mila v-neck jumper which is too big but it has gone back up to the original price!

Sooverthemill · 15/10/2019 14:27

@twosoups that's annoying. Why don't you email and ask if you do an exchange will it be at the sale price?

@neveradullmoment99 I have no advice. I'm hopeless with bras. My DD would go to the shop and take armfuls and come out and hand me the one I had to buy. I do t think they ever fitted

ilovecherries · 15/10/2019 14:34

Never, her size would probably be 27B if it existed, so I would try 28A as a starting point.

Omg I went to Sainsbury's and picked up the crop top Soy suggested above, and I am wearing now even though I am in the office !! SO comfy.. it could even make me like my boobs (unlikely .. but maybe make them more livable with until i finally lose the weight- back on diet now - and go see about a reduction) A great recommend

neveradullmoment99 · 15/10/2019 16:06

Thanks you @ilovecherries and @Sooverthemill
Will check those places suggested. Guess its trial and error. Will try a 28A for starters.
@twosoups1972 How can they change the price when the sale continues. Very very unfair. I too would email.
I must check out the Sainsbury bras.

SoyYo · 15/10/2019 16:58

So pleased you liked the Tu crop top bras Jackie! They’re really fab and never your DD will probably like too as they’d be perfect support for a 12yo (except for PE maybe).

So sharing final Hush sale haul.
The stand out piece for me is the Fur bomber ordered just to see...but can’t part with it now! It’s a keeper!
Very soft and warm and Fab

Lovely Jacket Soy looks very cosy👍🏼
I succumbed to a few things on in the jigsaw sale, not sure if I will keep but thought worth a punt due to good reductions.
Silk dress 80.00 instead of 160.00 thought could be good with trainers/sandals denim jacket in the summer.
Silk top 39.00
Pumps 15.00

lovely choices @dontcallmelen. The dress is beautiful.

Laska2Meryls · 15/10/2019 19:03

All look great len I love the dress especially and it will look fab with the pumps ,I think.

My waffle top came from Hush , keeping but its basically a long sleeve T.. I am not sure how on earth Hush thought that they could could justify the £39 pre-sale price (and its still £29) .

New trouble ahead though!!!.Just landed.. the Moto jacket !! 😍 😍 😍
Sadly, as it seems that Hush do not pay me to post here either, I wont be getting one .. Sad

neveradullmoment99 · 15/10/2019 19:23

I love the moto jacket. Are you getting it? Its gorgeous!!!

neveradullmoment99 · 15/10/2019 19:24

@soyo and me are hanging out for 20% off!!!! I want one!!

SoyYo · 15/10/2019 19:24

Beautiful choices Len I love! And the silk dress and top I got from Jigsaw at the last sale are fabulous quality! The satin silk top colour is fab too and will be great for winter parties.

SoyYo · 15/10/2019 19:25

Yes 20% off needed to try the Moto jacket. 😍

Sooverthemill · 15/10/2019 19:28

I like the style of the Moro but not the finish on the leather so I'm not tempted!

neveradullmoment99 · 15/10/2019 19:28

Its low stock in a 12 bah!
