No spending has not stopped me browsing Blush
@Sooverthemill I love the Seasalt cords.

Ellapaella · 16/09/2019 20:54

Anyone looking for a dress? Because this is a beauty https://www.oliverbonas.com/fashion/winter-blossom-printed-mesh-midi-dress-250243

justilou1 · 16/09/2019 22:54

@SaltySeaBird if you don’t have any delicates wash, a gentle squirt of shampoo should be ok. Definitely cold wash. I’d also pop it in a lingerie bag and obviously hang it carefully to dry. I’d steam it rather than iron it.

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 08:42

Salty If it’s 100% silk it should be okay to hand wash with some Woolite or in a machine hand wash cycle. But I don’t recognise the skirt so that’s just imho. I often ignore dry clean only wash instructions on what’s obviously a washable delicate fabric like silk or cashmere but do handwash if not sure and have never had any disasters.

ella thanks for the check coat link, the M&S is indeed very similar to the Baujken boyfriend check coat 👌 like you I was just doing research for soups Wink...I have attached Barbour tartan coat from AW15, still going strong after 3 years and in excellent condition and I love it so much. The shape is more fitted so not boyfriend slouchy but that won’t stop me getting it out again this winter: it’s the perfect olive green/pinks tartan combo! I also have another dog hound tooth check coat in bright purple, even older but again in really good nick even though it’s not pure wool like the Barbour one. Again the shape is fitted (see pics) rather than the loose boyfriend shape but what do you think? I reckon they’ll be great for the checks/tweed trend. I also have a few Boden Harris Tweed jackets from old seasons in brown, blue, pink checks so I guess my check needs are complete Grin.
Love the dress btw

miffy we are AW19 Hush twins! I also bought the red Kensington dress and wide v neck in green when the 10% was on. If I’m honest the dress is nearly maxi length on me but DH insisted I keep it he liked it so much on me (enabled! 😂) but haven’t worn yet. It’s a gorgeous red print and shape.

@Ellapaella @twosoups1972 @SoyYo. I've been thinking about this coatfrom M&S? But I really don't need a proper coat as I just don't get enough use from it. Still, can look

twosoups1972 · 17/09/2019 09:02

@soover I like it! What coats do you have already? I find wool coats to be not that warm when the weather is freezing.

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 09:23

Soover that’s a great coat! Love a check with pink thrown in.
I find my wool coats are fine throughout the winter except for very very cold weather which is unusual in East Anglia where I live.
The shape of the M&S is so on trend too, but if you’re bordering on petite height like me try it first as I always worry the oversized very long coat look will totally swamp me.

Sooverthemill · 17/09/2019 09:28

@twosoups interesting as I do find lined wool so warm!

I have an old Hobbs wool fitted red coat which was my 'best' coat;
a waterproof Merril coat in heather grey which has quilted lining and a hood ( dull but so practical);
a horrid Boden showerproof Mac which I really should sell;
a French Connection chocolate puffer coat full length and belted which is so warm and cosy and has umpteen pockets and the best coat ever for ambulance runs!;
a hip length navy puffer jacket but very thin but still quite warm;
A Pure leather jacket which isn't biker;
a Hush military jacket;
A Kew ( jigsaw) navy cashmere and wool pea jacket which is so soft and beautiful; denim jacket;
a soft blue cord 'denim' jacket which I think is 19 years old this year.

My favourite Hobbs big check wool jacket got trashed and I threw it out but I miss it. I also have various black jackets that people call blazers now.

I would love a Hobbs leather jacket in navy
I've ordered the hush cord ecru jacket
I look at eBay frequently for Hobbs etc good quality coats and I would love a boyfriend slouchy big check one, & often look on Boden but as I actually leave the house only about once a month it is hard to justify outdoor clothing. Probably hard to justify most clothes but I enjoy clothes and looking like I care as I think it helps my MH health. I look after my very sick DD now age 20 24/7 and have done for the last 6 years

Sooverthemill · 17/09/2019 09:29

@SoyYo I'm in East Anglia too! And am 5'1 and a half. So stuff is often too long....

twosoups1972 · 17/09/2019 10:04

@soover sounds like you should replace the old Hobbs coat. And definitely sell the Boden mac, I used to have one and got quite a bit for it on Ebay.

Ellapaella · 17/09/2019 10:08

@Sooverthemill love that coat!
I have so many coats:
Black wool coat
New Boden blue wool coat
Leopard print coat
Red faux fur jacket
Black biker jacket
Ox blood biker jacket
Denim jacket
Black trench coat
Seasalt rain coat
Mustard rain coat
Big warm long puffa coat
Light weight (but so warm) puffa jacket
Khaki summer jacket
Teddy coat

Possibly more... Blush

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 10:25

Soover ooh what county? I’m in north Cambs but also often in North Norfolk coast as we go there for weekends a lot. I agree making an effort to look your best is so important for MH specially if you’re housebound caring for DD Flowers.
Sounds like you and Ella have quite a collection!
I’m not even going to start counting jackets Blush but yes coats alone I have a few Hmm...I just remembered a Boden bright red corderoy one which I’ve worn so little over the last few years I really ought to sell but it’s the perfect shade of tomato red...and I also have a deep purple silk velvet Boden jacket from many seasons ago which is my favourite evening jacket. I don’t think Boden do the lux velvet long jacket look anymore...their velvet coats these days tend to look quite ordinary compared to 8/10 years ago.
Another surprising favourite is last winters Hush velvet short puffa jacket that laska persuaded me to try and ended up getting in the sale.
Super warm and so easy to throw on...I think they do it in green this year?

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 10:27

Sorry the silk velvet purple Boden jacket is a long coat not a jacket.
This is a good exercise to take stock and not rush in to buy yet more winter coats!!

twosoups1972 · 17/09/2019 10:28

Oooh I love a coat inventory, very necessary at this time of year Grin

I have -

-Grey wool tailored coat from Jigsaw (I hardly ever wear it but it's lovely)
-Dark green velvet puffa from Whistles (bought last year and wore loads, my new favourite)
-Navy blue Hush Fitzgerald jacket
-White Stuff denim jacket
-Navy blue wool coat with hood from Mint Velvet (I wear this when cold but not freezing)
-Brown leather jacket from Mint Velvet (bought from Ebay for £50 Smile)
-Black leather biker jacket from Massimo Dutti (just bought recently, love it)
-Black faux fur coat from Zara
-Protected Species waterproof commuter coat

Think that's it!

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 10:45

Ooh I found my Boden red corduroy coat on eBay. Mine is exactly the same and it’s really well made, warm thick corduroy:
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boden-Ladies-Coat-Red-thick-Corduroy-Blue-Lining-UK-Size-16-But-Fits-14-/153636564132?_trksid=p2385738.m4383.l4275.c10
Again not an “on trend” shape for AW19/20 but is it me or has Boden quality in general gone badly down in the last 2/3 years?
These days it’s rare I get to keep anything I order from them (and I only bother at sale time and rarely due to returning entire orders) Hmm
You can still find the odd great buy like the leopard fur coat I bought last year but it’s really hit and miss...and Hush is becoming more like that too.

Anyway I don’t think I need a new coat this winter!

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 11:00

Yes soups it is sobering to do the inventory. I’m not going to include leather/suede/tweed or other jackets as I’m ashamed at how many I own Blush
But My AW coats:
Boden red corduroy as per eBay link
Boden Leopard fur (barely worn which is a shame but I always feel like I’m shouting “look at me” in not a good way when I wear it)
Uniglo IdelaF long navy plain coat
Barbour tartan as per earlier post
Ness dogtooth check purple as per earlier post
Boden deep violet evening silk velvet coat (it’s fab!)
Boden black hooded rain coat with fleece purple lining (used for winter beach walks mainly)
Boden collarless bright pink tweedy coat worn lots so now looking a bit shabby if I’m honest
Hush black velvet puffa
Hobbs chocolate quilted coat which is too big for me now so must get rid but in perfect condition
My only White Company Mac is looking old and tired now but if I should replace anything that should be it...except I’m not much of a Mac wearer even if I love the look on others...

I think that’s it as far as coats go 🤔

Sooverthemill · 17/09/2019 11:36

@SoyYo we are basically Southwold, Suffolk. It gets cold next to the sea but we are a mile in ( but if I was able to, it's a half hour walk to the harbour from our house over the fields). I am now looking on eBay...

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 11:41

Love Southwald Soover!
I’m now gripped by the Supreme Court hearing on Parliament prorogation live on BBC Parliament (off work at the moment recovering from recent op). I’m keeping everything crossed 🤞 that the Supreme Court judges put Johnson and his sinister cohorts in their place!

mumtoadancer · 17/09/2019 11:45

My Hush Friends next day delivery option is back, anyone else?

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 11:48

Sorry live on BBC News channel

Sooverthemill · 17/09/2019 11:59

@mumtoadancer yes I've just checked! I have 2 things in my basket and waiting for DHs pay day next week to click pay.

Sooverthemill · 17/09/2019 12:00

@SoyYo I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch.

dontcallmelen · 17/09/2019 13:23

Some lovely coats, Soover yy taking care of yourself & being interested in what you are wearing is really helpful in maintains good MH💐
Ok coats I have
Hobbs pale pink wool boyfriend coat, which I bought three years ago & never worn😳
Coast cream coat, which is beautiful but only comes out for occasional wear.
Long superdry puffa coat which is toasty.
M&S short navy puffa jacket.
Topshop pink raincoat.
LA floral long lightweight coat
Jackets not even going to begin to count😂

SoyYo · 17/09/2019 15:40

len the unworn Hobbs pale pink boyfriend coat sounds lovely. Make it your mission to give it a few outings this winter!
I’ve often been tempted by the Superdry long puffa coats but having just done the inventory probably best not to look 🙈

dontcallmelen · 17/09/2019 16:11

Soy yes I Will daft having it unworn, I have a couple of really nice scarves that would go with it as well, yy the superdry coat it’s very warm I got in the sale last year was about ninety pounds so not silly money it replaced a monsoon one I had for quite a few years, the similar one monsoon did last year wasn’t nearly as good quality.
