Is there a pair of stylish trainers on the face of this earth that is actually COMFORTABLE?

I'm really struggling to find the holy grail of trainers that are comfortable that are not sporty. I'm looking for fairly delicate fashion-type trainers to wear with leggings and dresses.

I've wasted loads of time and money this year with ones that turn out to be uncomfortable. I just bought VeJas for £££ and thought they might break in but 6 weeks later they are still like big clumpy bricks. I had Vionics last year which were great to wear but fell apart in 6 months, which for £100 was gutting.

Not converse - I need a bit of support or cushioning. Not Nike or anything because I don't want a sporty look. Sketchers? Are they not fashionable? At this stage I'm ready to try anything.

Size 5 or 5.5 with wide feet. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Golden Goose - I know they are £££ but the wedge makes them so comfortable.

I've also tried Veja, Superga and Converse, all so so uncomfortable. My go to are Stan Smiths, don't rub at all, insoles so supportive too and don't break the bank.

I can’t wear converse (too narrow) but I like superga and I’ve had vans I’ve loved - they were leather and less clumpy than classic vans. They were so soft and comfy.

In terms of Nike’s, if you want less sporty ones but still comfortable then the internationalist style is good & lots of colour options.

Oh no, now I want these.

Just to add another Adidas option to the mix, I'd really recommend Supercourts. Very comfy I say that as a wide-footed person who can't wear converse (not enough support) and whose Vejas have never worked out due to how painful they are to wear!

MotherOfSoupDragons · 10/08/2019 21:36

Sketchers.

kidsdoingmyheadin · 10/08/2019 21:37

ALittleBitAlexis I’ve just bought my 3rd pair but I have a very high instep so it’s practically a medical need!

Definitely Nike Internationalist. They are the most comfortable trainers I have ever worn, and I have tried on a lot! Yes, I guess they are sporty, but they look good with skirts and dresses too.

MidnightMystery · 10/08/2019 21:45

River island

itsnotmyparty · 10/08/2019 21:46

You said no to Nike, however Nike Air Force ones are the comfiest I've had. They are wide, and aren't typical sporty looking running trainers

raisinsraisinsraisins · 10/08/2019 21:50

New Balance 574 are also comfortable

BenWillbondsPants · 10/08/2019 21:54

I bought these a few weeks ago and they're v comfy. I wear them with jeans, dresses, skirts etc.

If Vionic shoes suited you last time but didn't last, just buy them in the sales. Loads of trainers on Legend footwear, simply feet or Amazon in the sales now. I have similar feet and have given up buying any other shoes as I find them too uncomfortable and just don't wear them.
I bought mine from Tk Maxx online .

historysock · 11/08/2019 06:02

I have worn Superga for years. Usually have to wear a new pair about three times with socks before they are fine and non blister causing without. I have narrow feet but even so they are fine (as they are quite wide fitting I think-but still fine for me). They also do a seamless pair now which would be god for anyone who has issues with shoes rubbing.

Sauvignonblanket · 11/08/2019 06:16

I've always wanted to try the furoshiki shoes that wrap - good for wide feet.

bookgirl1982 · 11/08/2019 06:20

ASICS tigers, thin sole and not heavy looking

Cloverpositivesattitude · 11/08/2019 08:06

Stan smiths here too.

goose1964 · 11/08/2019 21:24

They may be too sporty but my reebok classics are comfy, but a bit on the big side.

Update - I've bought some Allbirds which are comfortable but not super supportive under my arches - I'm beginning to wonder if I need to see someone about my feet. I'm also not sure they tick the 'stylish' box Grin but I have been wearing them non-stop since I got them and they are like wearing slippers. Got grey so they go with most things.

Going to continue the search for 'cooler' trainers as well. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Allbirds aren’t the most structured. Would it work to add an insole for better support?
