Is there a pair of stylish trainers on the face of this earth that is actually COMFORTABLE?

I'm really struggling to find the holy grail of trainers that are comfortable that are not sporty. I'm looking for fairly delicate fashion-type trainers to wear with leggings and dresses.

I've wasted loads of time and money this year with ones that turn out to be uncomfortable. I just bought VeJas for £££ and thought they might break in but 6 weeks later they are still like big clumpy bricks. I had Vionics last year which were great to wear but fell apart in 6 months, which for £100 was gutting.

Not converse - I need a bit of support or cushioning. Not Nike or anything because I don't want a sporty look. Sketchers? Are they not fashionable? At this stage I'm ready to try anything.

Size 5 or 5.5 with wide feet. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

Nike Internationalists.
So comfy and not sporty looking. I buy a pair every year.

PinPon, I added an insole but because they are really low-rise the insole makes my foot too high and they start to slip off. I really love that low-rise look though....

Which allbirds did you buy @Esto? I bought the tree runners and wore them today but am a bit worried the toe mesh area is going to break soon as I can see a little toe mountain peak at the end of my foot!
Thinking of returning them as £95 a lot to spend if they only last a few months.

I bought the tree skippers. Really comfy and soft and look quite nice. I know what you mean though, I sort of feel like I can see my feet through the shoes...

Try Golden goose, I have a very high instep & if wearing Stan Smiths/Superga's/Converse all day my arch starts to hurt.

There are some Nikes that have good instep support but they tend to be chunkier & have a higher rise which is why I love the low profile aspect of GG.

@MerryDeath sorry to revive this thread but how did you get on with the Cariumas?

MerryDeath · 21/09/2019 17:14

they are great! MUCH more comfortable than those stupid vejas that still sit in their box. they aren't soft and squishy but i think they will be.

I have a couple of pairs of Saucony Jazz and they are the most comfy trainers I've owned by a mile. You can get them quite cheaply on some sports shoe websites, or Anthropologie have some limited edition colourways atm that I have my eye on. Possibly not quite what you are looking for as they are quite sporty-ish but thought I'd throw it out there!

I wear Skechers. They're crazy comfortable and the least trainery.

rookiemere · 21/09/2019 17:28

I love Woden trainers - they're a Danish brand and are definitely not sports trainers.
I bought supergra and converse trainers before but ended up donating them to the charity shop as they are completely flat and not in the least bit comfortable.

Have a look at Camper and ECCO

Beware of Camper. I was a huge fan until I had a faulty pair of sandals and tried to return them. They will do everything they can to avoid honouring your consumer rights and they are rude with it. I was gobsmacked by their attitude, as a quality brand but, looking online, many other customers have had similar issues. I will never buy from them again.

Fitflop trainers.
I have a foot issue and these have been a godsend.
I’ve recently bought these:

Plus I have the hi-top version of these:

Gabor Helen.

I have to say sketchers. I'm always the only one who's feet do not hurt!

TileFloors · 22/09/2019 15:24

Sketchers wreck my ankles. I have quite rubbish ankles anyway (the tendons round the inside of my ankles get easily irritated) and I found that the memory foam soles were just forcing my ankles to work too hard to maintain stability, and I ended up injured just by walking around in them. I need something much more supportive.

Tanaqui · 22/09/2019 18:34

Me too Tile - I used to love the fitflop sneakers but the new ones seem much narrower and the sole less bouncy. All the superga/ white stuff/ sketchers type can be comfy, but don't give any support if you are on your feet all day.

Reebok leather trainers, super comfy and beautiful, especially in dark colours.

As you are less than size 6, you should be able to buy from their junior/teen range for a discount.

I'm at martyr to my feet but these are like walking on air!

I've had several pairs of skechers which were like walking on cushions.

Then I bought my current pair and my ankles hurt when wearing them Sad Interesting to see other people have had that problem.
