Is there a pair of stylish trainers on the face of this earth that is actually COMFORTABLE?

I'm really struggling to find the holy grail of trainers that are comfortable that are not sporty. I'm looking for fairly delicate fashion-type trainers to wear with leggings and dresses.

I've wasted loads of time and money this year with ones that turn out to be uncomfortable. I just bought VeJas for £££ and thought they might break in but 6 weeks later they are still like big clumpy bricks. I had Vionics last year which were great to wear but fell apart in 6 months, which for £100 was gutting.

Not converse - I need a bit of support or cushioning. Not Nike or anything because I don't want a sporty look. Sketchers? Are they not fashionable? At this stage I'm ready to try anything.

Size 5 or 5.5 with wide feet. Any suggestions would be very gratefully received.

@growlingbear
You are very welcome! I'm glad to be able to share the joy

@Esto you may be able to find some to try on in Sports Direct as they sometimes stock them.

Stan Smith's

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/08/2019 16:01

I have small wide feet, so can often get bargain kids’ trainers, but my faves are:

Adidas Stan Smith - I have black and white pairs, and tend to buy a new black pair every year because I wear them so often.
Adidas Continental 80s - I have these in black and grey, the grey leather is much stiffer than the black but softened up okay. I got the grey for £24 in the children’s sale at Christmas!
Nike Air Max - I have gold leather ones which were a sale buy and are probably my favourite ever pair
Nike Roshe - leopard print. Nice, v comfy, but no use in the rain.

I got some Vejas the other week and am persevering with them!

I have several pairs of superga trainers, I really like them but I wouldn't class them as any more comfortable than converse.

New Balance are unbelievably comfy but not sure they have any in the style you like.

Ugg do some cute trainers.

Leather Reeboks. The black leather reebok trainers look really good with smart black trousers and all kinds of bottoms. My pair also have a foamy ortho sole (part of the design) and are the comfiest shoes I've ever owned.

K-Swiss Court Frasco - it's like walking on clouds!

Propertyofhood · 10/08/2019 16:22

Have you tried Kurt Geiger or Carvela? I prefer fashion trainers rather than sporty and I really like these, they have all sorts of metallics and embellishments as well la's plainer styles. I get mine from Shoeaholics as they are much cheaper (I love Shoeaholics in general!)

Not going to lie, they do take a few wears to break in (like most shoes to be honest) but really not very long and I have found mine really comfy.

WowOoo · 10/08/2019 16:23

Have you tried Vivo Barefoot?
££ but so comfy and have done well for wear. I got some trainer/shoe for work and would love to replace with another colour. Love their sales.

ALittleBitAlexis · 10/08/2019 16:24

I've got some Kurt Geiger ones that are really comfortable - I walked miles in them on holiday with no issues. Adidas Stan Smiths always work for me, too.

Have a look at Jigsaw. Their trainers are ££, but sooooo comfortable and last really well. The often have good deals in the sale.

Just discovered Victoria a Spanish trainer and casual shoe brand and I love them. I have their suede flatform trainers in two colours and they are beautiful and insanely comfortable

Just a warning - if you have wide feet, definitely try on Jigsaw before buying! I got some plimsoll-type trainers from them and absolutely wrecked my feet on a city break, I ended up walking barefoot at times Blush My feet are really wide though, but def. try before you buy.

@toomuchlikemyusername Thank you!

MrDarcysMa · 10/08/2019 16:37

I have the same problem, threw out my Vejas after 6 months as they were just SO heavy and the sole came away!
Try superego sport club s, the leather ones. Smart looking, wipe clean and much lighter than Vejas, i've popped a couple of gel arch supports in them and god I walk miles and miles in them!

I think Sketchers look very dated.

Electra195 · 10/08/2019 16:40

Try allbirds they are a New Zealand invention using recycled components and the most comfortable trainers I have

dollybird · 10/08/2019 16:58

I recently got some Adidas Stan Smith's too, and they're so comfortable. A bit like converse but you don't feel like your feet are slapping on the floor, much more supportive

WrongKindOfFace · 10/08/2019 17:15

Skechers fans... are there any you can wear with no socks and your feet don't stink? With a breathable insole?

They do some breathable mesh ones,, but I’ve always just stuck my Skechers in the washing machine to freshen them up.

hettie · 10/08/2019 17:24

Pozu trainers are excellent as are crime London, very cool, but so so comfy

I ordered these in navy for the same purpose. They've sold out very fast on qvc but John Lewis has some too. I'm not sure if they're trendy or middle age version of trendy but if they fit and are comfy they'll do me.

TawnyPippit · 10/08/2019 17:41

Another vote for Allbirds. Slipper levels of comfortableness. I haven’t needed to wash yet but like the idea you can just sling them in the machine which will really freshen them up nicely.

Verite1 · 10/08/2019 19:44

I love my Stan smiths. Have 4 pairs in different colours.
