Hi all, I've been following the tribe group on Facebook for a while but just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I can't seem to get to the bottom of what they advise, seasons etc. Is there something similar closer to London. And she keeps advising chunky trainers, is this a thing now?

Oh goodness the irony on this thread! Someone points out that obesity is a Covid risk and a serious health problem and you jump down her throat saying it's not allowed YET you've all been talking about telling the truth is kinder, even if it's harsh! We should not let someone wear something that doesn't suit them, etc. BUT talking about obesity is NOT OK apparently. It seems that there are triggers for everyone. It sounds like the serpent feels her styling skills are superior to Susie's and this is where her venom is coming from and the plus size lady feels conscious about her size and this is where her beef is coming from. There is a real contradiction here. Maybe you should apply the same rules as the SBS Facebook group?!

As for the stylist, she is defending her job, her friends, her tribe. Yes, she's wrong to do it from a business perspective but social media is a beast and can be hard to handle. Trolls are part of the day job when you're out there. Plus these women are working in the contentious area of women's looks and style - can there be a more prickly area to work in! They need better business advice and someone to act as a shield to protect them from the wrath AND they need to up their customer service game!

Hopefully tomorrow will not be a slow work day so I'll be less tempted by threads like these!

WowStarsWow · 11/08/2020 17:56

Hi Mhairi. You’re obviously reading here. Have you read the entire thread? What do you think about the people who say that they weren’t happy with the service provided by SBS and have no recourse?

Sorry, but just being more vehement about something doesn’t make it true, no matter how much you want it to be. People putting themselves out there on the internet are fair game for fair critique. Imagine saying that about Donald Trump or Kim Kardashian, what’s the difference?

“Nothing gives anybody the right to criticise someone’s appearance” - so it’s fine for me to tattoo racist slurs and swastikas all over my body and no one else can say anything about it? Extreme example, but one that exposes your hyperbole.

And when you claim to provide a service, but your clients clearly demonstrate that the service is sub standard (a “summer” person told to get warm blonde hair, an “autumn” person told to wear a bright purple lipstick) then it is 100% definitely ok to critique that. Do you and the other stylists even understand basic colour theory I wonder?

(Oh yeah - the lipstick/Breonna Taylor thing? Such a tired old “argument” but I’ll bite. You must have a low opinion of posters on this thread if you think we can only focus on one thing at once. You have no idea what anyone on this thread does for charity/BLM causes/a day job. But I guess we’re just nasty trolls and couldn’t possibly care about any of that stuff?)

For the avoidance of doubt, Mhairi is not the hair stylist, she is one of susie’s new stylists.

That was quite a rant. Maybe i’ve misread but no ones called anyone fat or criticised the condition of their skin, that post is quite misrepresentative of this conversation. This thread has been about appalling customer service, an inability to give constructive feedback that means some paying customers wear clothes that don’t suit them and, and a service whereby some people are given incorrect analyses that they have paid for.

By having a tantrum the stylists are just alerting people to this thread and tattle.

I think I originally posted on this thread months ago and had forgotten about it but keep coming back when the stylists keep talking about people being ‘unkind’. I’m getting quite angry that we would be considered unkind for trying to prevent someone going out with camel toe.

Jdhshekr · 11/08/2020 18:05

I think throughout this whole thread almost nobody has been unkind about the way anyone looks. There are maybe about 3 comments that everyone else then said were wrong to make for that reason. People have criticised the styling advice but not the people who have been styled - not their bodies, and not their looks. What has been said is that it is unfortunate that they have been given paid for advice that has not allowed them to make the best of themselves.

Styledbyserpents · 11/08/2020 18:20

I think the issue is that all of the women paying for the service are, by default, lacking in confidence and self style knowledge. To then be told they look, amazing in overtight flap reveung clothing is actually unkind.

HumousWhereTheHeartIs · 11/08/2020 18:37

I posted towards the start of this thread that I was happy with my analysis, and whilst I do believe women who are a little lost get a boost, I am becoming increasingly irritated.

I just don't really believe what they say any more. Not everyone suits Next boy shorts, chunky shoes, slogan tees or TUCKED IN TOPS yet every poster raves about each other. I just don't think it is helpful to people at all. It is sanctimonious.
There is only one stylist who seems to follow their own rules. But I can't remember her name which isn't helpful!
And the curly haired lady mentioned above is not a winter...I am and there is no way. That said, I think their analysis of me is correct and I have found it useful - especially make up colours. I could just do without the self-righteous bits.

WowStarsWow · 11/08/2020 18:44

I want to message the curly haired spring girl and enlighten her but of course i can’t 😭 I just feel so bad for her though!

Parentinglark · 11/08/2020 18:45

Whether intentionally or not SBSs post about these threads have deflected away from the factual feedback & experience of their bad business and customer service practices & instead has painted genuine feedback & criticism as trolling and has inevitable pitted woman against each other. Instead of taking the genuine feedback & at times business advice & suggestions on here they have fueled this fire of people allegedly tearing others down.

@Oopsadaisydoddle
I have read your comments here and on Tattle and I really do sympathise. Obesity is a trigger word and even though I agree with serpent above about it being one of the biggest health problems we face today, this thread is supposed to be about the lack of feedback for the SBS service.

If the stylists are reading I would like them to think about the feedback here. Take a deep breath and a step back. Acknowledging that someone isn’t happy with a service is IMPORTANT.

Imagine if you told your husband that you weren’t happy about something he did and he gives you a terse response and says that 10 ex girlfriends didn’t complain, how would you feel? Ignored, disrespected, frustrated? You might even start a thread about your “shit husband” ...

Instead stylists, acknowledge feedback, even when it’s not positive. Business isn’t about being kind. You can DO business in a kind way but it’s about profit. You’re not volunteering here! If it’s too hard to hear negative feedback because too close to who you are as well as your business, delegate to someone who can deal with the negative feedback.
Also ignore the haters and the trolls.

To those still in the Facebook group commenting negatively like you hate it, leave the group and get a bloody life!

FlasknTea · 11/08/2020 19:19

@Oopsadaisydoddle not sure the point you’re making with the screenshot? She tells you, albeit curtly, that she didn’t remove you from the group?

KatieGilbert · 11/08/2020 19:31

@Oopsadaisydoddle don't take bait ... Flask is obviously having some issues herself. Probably sitting on her keyboard in her Primark dungarees and Superga sneakers feeling very pleased with herself as she knows it all.

@Oopsadaisydoddle

Off topic but it really annoys me when people pretend that being fat isn't unhealthy. It is. People who are fat are at significantly more risk of developing a huge number of diseases. Being overweight IS linked to covid, even with the image you shared - as being overweight is associated with many other diseases as I said. It's a fact.

Fair enough be fat positive for yourself, be happy in your own body, but don't go trying to spread the message that being overweight is ok, or even healthy!! It isn't. At all.

And note that I haven't said once that losing weight is easy. That's not my point.

I also disagree with whoever compared Susie to Kim Kardashian and the like. Susie is not some mega star with a million trolls. She is a normal person and is allowed to be upset by this thread.

And that all being said this thread has lost the point that SBS desperately needs a way to feedback. Or maybe encourage posters to either 1 - share their look to show how happy they are or 2 - specifically ask for advice - eg do you think this belt goes? Then people can comment with advice. But only if the poster has actually asked for it.

EndlessUserName · 11/08/2020 19:44

@Oopsadaisydoddle that was a cross post (takes me ages to type!!!) But I still don't agree with all this fat positivity. Fair enough for yourself with your own personal experience but not generally. I don't see why we're talking about it on here anyway as it's nothing to do with SBS?! I actually like that they can't use fat shaming words etc

stopfundinghate that was me who compared susie to KK.

At what point does someone stop being a “normal person” and start being an Internet personality? So you’ve got susie, apparently a normal person, what about Mrs hinch? Gemma Collins? Priti Patel? Where do you draw the line? I’d argue that if you’re putting yourself out there you have to take the bad with the good.

The weight issue is irrelevant. Susie and her stylists aren’t diet advisors and your body shape and season are the same no matter what your weight is.

EndlessUserName · 11/08/2020 19:55

@Oopsadaisydoddle yes let's move on now. Us autumn/winter crossovers need to stick together! Wink

Yes sorry it was a response wasn't it. I agree that SBS is not the place for toning up advice. I think for many people having an analysis would hopefully boost your confidence. Even if someone wants to / needs to lose weight or whatever, you don't encourage that by being mean about them!

@WowStarsWow I totally disagree as I said. I don't know where the line is. But clearly Susie isn't a mega star! And actually I don't think anyone should be trolled but there we go.
