Hi all, I've been following the tribe group on Facebook for a while but just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I can't seem to get to the bottom of what they advise, seasons etc. Is there something similar closer to London. And she keeps advising chunky trainers, is this a thing now?

I think sometimes while the BeKind sentiment is honourable, there’s times to be diplomatically cruel to be kind To reuse a previous posters example, telling someone they look hideous cos they’ve got camel toe isn’t kind, but but suggesting a fitted top might be a better option to show off their legs and that the tuck isn’t really suited, is kind. Also as has been mentioned before, Susie can hide behind the BeKind ethos when it suits her

ohmygiddiest · 11/08/2020 15:54

Yep. There is nothing kind about this business and I stand by everything I said earlier. The sooner Susie and her 'stylists' get some customer service and proper fashion training the better.

Marsis · 11/08/2020 16:36

One of the stylists has posted a ‘be kind or be quiet’ message on instagram. Completely shutting down any sort of feedback, I can’t tell whether she’s using it to avoid criticism or they are totally blinkered and genuinely think that the ‘positive vibes only’ thing is a good business model. The threads should give her pause for thought but they are just going on the defensive. Also by drawing attention to these threads they will just open more of their customers eyes to the flaws of the business, I joined the group and had niggling doubts but was (still am) a bit clueless about clothes and found this thread which firmly put me off .

WowStarsWow · 11/08/2020 16:53

Who even decides what is “kind”? 🙄 Obvious in this case I guess, but that’s the problem. As many people have said, is it kinder to say
“Wow you look fab in your clingy jumpsuit with clashing belt and chunky white trainers”
Or
“I think you could do better, try a size up in the jumpsuit and a plain belt, also this is not an autumn colour”

Essentially “be kind” is meaningless when you think about it. “If you can be anything, be kind” er no thanks, some people don’t deserve kindness (NOT talking about the group now 😂). But it is still bullshit.

Styledbyserpents · 11/08/2020 16:55

I consider myself pretty clued up about clothes, style etc. I adore clothes, I knowy shape, colours and what suits. I'm good at seeing that in others too. Some of what they advise is jarring. The over bright lipsticks suit very few people. Ditto bright, busy patterns. I've always French tucked but it suits my shape and the more expensive fabrics and better cuts I wear. Tucking in to a straining pair of cheap, thin jeans to reveal a big tummy and flap lips will never ever be a good look. The bottom line for me is most of it is cheap, MSN made, poorly cut and unflattering, especially on SBS average demographic.

Styledbyserpents · 11/08/2020 16:57

I'll also add, and I, am aware this is contraversial, but they don't allow any discussion of body size and many of the women could do with toning up and shedding a few pounds. That group does demonstrate how large we are now as a nation.

Marsis this?

I think we’ve come full circle on this thread.

WowStarsWow · 11/08/2020 17:15

Pic not showing for me...

Styledbyserpents · 11/08/2020 17:21

Except that being overweight is absolutely bad for health. Never before have we had the younger generation fatter than the older. I'm in my 50's and I'm the oldest amongst my colleagues and the fittest and slimmest. That's a scary situation.

Styledbyserpents · 11/08/2020 17:23

Wowstars. What a silly, melodramatic little foot stamp. This thread has been surprisingly gentle for such a nest of vipers.

weareyoung · 11/08/2020 17:23

Just jumping in with another reminder to the BE KIND OR BE QUIET brigade that if Susie and the cult hadn't consistently silenced perfectly reasonable and gentle feedback, this and the Tattle thread wouldn't exist.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 11/08/2020 17:24

I agree with all the people who say constructive criticism is kinder than positive sounding lies.

Parentinglark · 11/08/2020 17:26

You had some fair points until your last comment which is just unnecessary. 99% of people on this thread have been respectful even when commenting on others appearance & your last comment was just a really low blow

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 11/08/2020 17:28

@Styledbyserpents controversial and nasty.

Parentinglark · 11/08/2020 17:34

I quite liked this stylist out of them all but oh my gosh what a childish dummy throwing tantrum. "People who call others names are awful people" next line "trolls are scumbags" 🙃 the professionalism from these people are non existent. I hope this just highlights to everyone who was claiming dissatisfied customers should just "reach & share your upset with sbs" that this is the attitude they are faced with.& fiona do yourself a favour and undertake some self reflection. Can you truly say you have never commented or criticised someone not to their face?

Yes that was what I was referring to!

Styledbyserpents · 11/08/2020 17:40

We will need to agree to disagree. 2/3 of adults are obese or seriously overweight. Refusing to acknowledge that some of the women on that site are considerably fat is disingenuous. Being fat is also a significant Covid risk. Anyway, I shall leave it there. I accept this is not the place for that particular discussion.

MulberryPeony · 11/08/2020 17:41

The original point of the thread that sometimes the stylists get it wrong and we (customers and Facebook group members) aren’t allowed or don’t feel like we can comment that does certainly get lost when some posters start making personal remarks about people’s appearance.

When the hair stylist posts the message that @WowStarsWow screen shot about how vile mumsnet is everyone jumps on that instead.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 11/08/2020 17:43

There is a woman who posted an outfit in the last few minutes saying she is a winter. I am exactly the same colouring as her - and I am a spring. It’s very confusing. My friend is a winter - had her colours done by Red Leopard - and she has black hair and very pale skin.

Parentinglark · 11/08/2020 17:43

Also the phrases "start a war" & using the death of Brienne Taylor to bolster her argument is inflammatory & disgusting. I am actually so angry by that last line.

Jdhshekr · 11/08/2020 17:48

Nope, no need for body snark ever. Nobody ‘needs’ to do anything to their body. Their body, their business. Susie and co are stylists, not diet and exercise advisers and are there to style clothes on people regardless of their size. And it is possible to be perfectly healthy and overweight. Look up the health at every size movement. There are many many other causes of poor health and to assume that someone is unhealthy because they are larger is unfair and often incorrect.

I suspect this person was discussed earlier in the thread. She’s so not a winter.
