Hi all, I've been following the tribe group on Facebook for a while but just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I can't seem to get to the bottom of what they advise, seasons etc. Is there something similar closer to London. And she keeps advising chunky trainers, is this a thing now?

@ThousandsAreSailing

Where are you all seeing the transformations? On the FB page I see mainly just stylists. I can see the bra fitter with the badly fitting bra

There's a Facebook group as well as the page. The group is called styled by susie sisterhood.

I think most of the hair analysis is ok, but I'm baffled by why women are paying for it. Any good hairdresser should be able to discuss your hair and make style recommendations before cutting your hair. Most people with very long hair benefit from a few inches cut off because it improves the condition, and that's what a lot of the recommendations seem to be.

I've just seen the pictures of that very pretty girl with dark hair who has gone blonde. Poor girl, it doesn't suit her.

PimlicoJo · 10/08/2020 08:45

I've just looked at the bra fitting stylist mentioned on here. I'm speechless. I'm big busted and know what a difference the right bra shape and size can make - hers doesn't fit well at all. Again, I'm bewildered as to why people will pay for this. John Lewis, Bravissimo or any decent lingerie shop have people who can do it well.

pontiouspilates · 10/08/2020 08:47

I've just had a look at the hair analysis. The brunette was so much nicer on that girl. It's all a bit samey isn't it? I'm sure that SBS works for some but the lack of constructive criticism really grates.

Jdhshekr · 10/08/2020 08:53

Having looked back through the hair analysis posts there do seem to have been a lot of ‘lobs’ advised recently. In some ways it’s good because it’s a lovely fresh style that suits nearly all of the women who have had it done really well. But that can’t be the only haircut to recommend, surely? I’m sure a year or so ago she was recommending lots of different haircuts.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 10/08/2020 09:41

@MrsSchadenfreude you have a couple of sort options if you click the dots at the top of the feed, you can change it to most recent posts or posts with the most recent comments instead of 'most relevant' whatever that means.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/08/2020 10:27

@LivingDeadGirlUK - yes, I finally worked that out and had a look at the hair analysis thread. Virtually all recommended a long bob, with about two short styles.

Oliversmumsarmy · 10/08/2020 12:14

If you are only recommending what the latest fashion is then that isn’t styling someone that is just telling them to wear the latest fashion.

AncoraAmarena · 10/08/2020 14:36

Sigh, more censorship and blocking. I saw the comments she is referring to, they weren't unkind.

I think that just demonstrates in a nutshell the vacuum that SBS and in particular Susie has created. If you’ve just had a new hairstyle based on an analysis, you shouldn’t need empathy, you should be getting genuine compliments. If they have to censor opinions that badly, then that’s more to do with the hairstylist’s advice than the commenter. Seriously Susie get some cop on. You’re not creating a safe place, you’re creating a fake world of delusions. Misleading people is harmful and can set them up for ridicule.

Vauxhallvulva · 10/08/2020 15:17

The woman with the curls had hair to die for. She just needed a trim from someone who understands. Now she looks like all the rest. Whoever said Susie hates women is right. You have to really fear beauty to suggest what they do to womens beautiful hair.

Coffeeandbeans · 10/08/2020 15:56

I think the lady with the curls Now looks fantastic - if it’s the same one - she had the glasses and hair. She looks younger and fresher.

Notredamn · 10/08/2020 16:56

Is it kind to tell someone their hair looked better before? What are they meant to do about it? It's not like giving an opinion on a pair of trousers.

The woman with the curly hair was due a good chop. It had loads of old colour in it and damage.

Yes, ridicule on here apparently Hmm
EndlessUserName · 10/08/2020 17:33

So what were the comments on the haircut?

ohmygiddiest · 10/08/2020 19:36

I only saw one comment that said something like 'all that lovely hair gone'.

I don't think Styled by Susie have represented themselves well here, again.

TudorChimney · 10/08/2020 21:10

Saddened by so many comments on this thread. I have met Susie, and been styled by her, and I think she is terrific. She is very good at plucking something from a shelf/rail that you would never consider and it looks amazing on you. She is about making women feel good about themselves, and she is very good at it, as are her team. Why on earth would you be a member of a Facebook group then be horrible about it on here?

On balance I don't think it's ok to say someone's hair looked better before when they've had it cut and there's nothing they can do about it. But the censorship goes too far. I've had comments deleted when I pointed out that the colours in an outfit didn't suit an autumn (I've been analysed by HOC and am an autumn - one of the best things I've ever done). Sometimes people ask if they should keep outfits they've ordered and I don't think it's unreasonable to say not the best shape/colour. Constructive criticism is a good thing but it seems that 'being kind' just means telling people they look wonderful even when they don't and could look better.

YettaTessieMarmelstein · 10/08/2020 22:22

I have had a Stuled by Susie analysis and found it really helpful but I have three concerns...

  • I got a comment asking for tricks to disguise a large tummy deleted. Why? I really want to know.
  • their own stylists break the rules. Does that not devalue the advice?
  • I think they make mistakes which makes me doubt my analysis
CurlyHairedWoman · 10/08/2020 22:29

Hey all

I’m the curly haired woman from the post. I thought long and hard about posting here.

I DO follow the Curly Girl Method and have done for over a year. SOTC, STC, Plop, praying hands... if that’s enough proof?

I’ve also been to specialist curly hairdressers. Vicky Queen of Curls in Manchester is amazing.

My long, curly hair was taking over 90 minutes on wash day. I WANTED something shorter because it’s easier to maintain.

I know my hair needed a good chop, because I had just had a baby and getting to my curly hair specialist when heavily pregnant, post-partum, or during lock down just wasn’t happening. There are no curly hair specialists near me, apart from one salon that have just started!

I didn’t report any comments on the post, at all, because I, personally, am HAPPY with the service I have received. It did exactly what I needed it to do.

I shouldn’t have to justify my choices on a forum, but since some of you here are discussing my hair, I thought I’d at least give a response to some of the ‘well-intentioned’ but misinformed assumptions about what’s happened.

I guess until you’ve lived with my hair, or seen what I requested in the hair analysis, or understood my reasoning, it would be unfair to make a judgement because you don’t have all of the information?

eggofmantumbi · 10/08/2020 22:34

I'm actually impressed by the majority of the hair analysis. I think the recent brown to blonde one is the only one that didn't look loads better but on reading her post, she may well have asked for a change/ to go back to her original blonde etc.

The group isn't for everyone, but I imagine that would go for lots of other groups too.
