Hi all, I've been following the tribe group on Facebook for a while but just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I can't seem to get to the bottom of what they advise, seasons etc. Is there something similar closer to London. And she keeps advising chunky trainers, is this a thing now?

Another sucker here who followed it when I lost a lot of weight a while back but it was a load of shit really.

I also tried Lookiero but wasn't happy with that either!! I didn't think the stylist had actually read even the basics of my brief.

A couple of fellow nurses have tried Stitchfix and were raving about it so I think I will use your £15 off code and give that a go @lockdownalli. Thanks for that.

QueenCT · 10/07/2020 21:54

@Plancina I guess the hourglass thing depends.. I'm a size 16 but a genuine hourglass - huge waist/hip difference but balanced between boobs/shoulders/hips. Tops that fit my chest are always huge on my waist
I have a stomach but I'm not an apple. If that makes sense!

ohmygiddiest · 11/07/2020 12:58

I am so grateful to everyone who has posted on this thread and warned against using this service. I joined the Facebook group because it was mentioned here and I am so shocked! So many people blatantly being analysed with the wrong shape and wearing the wrong colours or clothes for an entirely different age group.

The worst part of it as far as I am concerned are the comments telling people they look nice when they really don't, it would be so much kinder to give them some constructive feedback.

A shame really as it is a great concept, but I think it needs to be done by trained professionals rather than people who think they can.

SplatPancake · 11/07/2020 13:29

[quote lockdownalli]This does sound like it really doesn't suit everyone. I did my colours online and came out as a summer and I do think those are the colours that suit me best.

Have any of you tried Stitchfix or Lookiero as a less risky alternative to SBS? I hadn't heard of it but signed up to Stitchfix after reading about it on another thread. You give the stylist absolutely tonnes of info about your likes and dislikes, styles, neckslines, sleeves, colours, patterns, Whether you want party clothes (unlikely at the mo!) office wear etc, Whether you want skirts/dresses/tops.

You set the price point and say how adventurous you want to be. I set myself as wanting to be a bit stretched but not too far and I had a box of five bloody amazing items that I really love. I kept them all which means you get a 20% discount.

I have set it to receive another box early autumn but you can set it yourself. You get the £10 styling fee back if you keep one item. Also, you get £15 off by following a referral link. Here is mine - others are available! Free delivery and returns too.

Just used your code, thanks!!

mammaboo2 · 11/07/2020 16:10

@lockdownalli thank you. I have used your code. Hope you benefit from us using it in some way. Just wish I hadn't been drawn in by SBS and wasted my money on the services.

SplatPancake · 20/07/2020 13:40

Package turned up this morning, keeping 3/5. One of the returns I already own (!), the other just doesn’t sit right on my body, but I would have ordered myself too if I’d seen it. So she got me pretty much spot on!!

Thanks for the code!

lockdownalli · 20/07/2020 17:17

Oh that is brilliant! So pleased for you Smile

@mammaboo2

Hi. I am new to this site. I did a search for SBS reviews and could only really find things on here. Last year I paid for the online analysis. I was so excited to get it and was especially looking forward to all the positive and wonderful things that people had said they had in theirs. I think I had one line commenting on my hair colour or something. The rest did not feel perosnalised at all but I was really pleased ro know my shape and season. The recommendations for makeup etc were very welcomed though. I found that i really struggled to find anything that suited me using the tips in the analysis, so for a big birthday earlier this year, I treated myself to an online shop. Again, I was so excited as everyone kept posting about their shops and how they had loved everything in them and ordered them all.

I was so disappointed with mine, by this I mean I had hoped to see some items where I would go "oh my goodness yes...i love this but never imagined it would suit ME"... I tried to post on the page asking if anyone else had felt this but of course it was declined. I was told someone would contact me personally - the reply was one sentence.
I have struggled for years with my style, not knowing who I am anymore and needed a push in the right direction as I had become so comy in leggings and hoodie. I ordered a couple of things from the online shop and I LOOKED AWFUL.
I feel so let down. Is it just me? It must be as everyone else seems to have such positive experiences on the page. I feel like it is all just me.
Not having a pity party, i am just trying to understand.

It’s no surprise that your post was declined @mammaboo2 - SBS sees any comments which are effusive praise as being negative, bullying and/or aggressive. Honest feedback from my point of view is actively discouraged by the the SBS Admins.

The rebuttal that customers don’t need to like the stylists own sense of style is mostly rubbish - there should be an element of admiration, aspiration etc

weareyoung · 20/07/2020 20:55

I noted Susie's little dig at what I assume was MN on Instagram the other day. She made a comment along the lines of online forums which are moderated but still allow untrue and hurtful comments etc etc.

If honest and less-than-glowing feedback was allowed on the SBS Facebook page, or even via private email then people wouldn't need to flock to such 'forums' to get their voices heard.

MehMehMeow · 20/07/2020 22:07

SBS has their clients email addresses - if they’re convinced that customers love their services without reservation, perhaps they should do a survey? Go back 12 months or so

Parentinglark · 21/07/2020 14:41

This does annoy me quite a bit as her FB group is all about silencing honest opinions whether its reviewing her services, genuine feedback on peoples outfits or people genuinely asking for style advice regards certain hang ups they have (and not only that these people are then labelled as "negative" of having "a damaging body outlook". I think her comment just goes to show how tone death she is to actual feedback on her business & her clients who pay for the service. I did hope now that Sarah had been promoted that SBS attitude would change but seems not.

weareyoung · 21/07/2020 16:34

What has Sarah been promoted to?

peaceanddove · 21/07/2020 21:53

The title of her Facebook group is a misnomer because no one on there looks remotely stylish. The identikit Christmas cracker earings, ugly trainers and acid bright lipsticks just look so garish. Like you're a freakishly tall toddler.

Some of the outfits that people post look horrifically comical and yet everyone gushes about them.

Cluelessbeetroot · 21/07/2020 23:12

I have reluctantly paid for an analysis because my best friend really wanted us both to have one. Mine was completely pointless, copy pasted waffle with spelling mistakes, rubbish PDFs with pics of old polyester clothes from New Look.
I was analysed as a different shape and season to my friend, however said waffle was pretty much the same in both our cover emails. They did get our shapes and seasons right, but honestly the quality of those PDFs with clothes recommendations is a piss take. Surely one of the stylists can find a couple of hours to update them to at least show clothes which were in shops earlier than 4 seasons ago.
It did however help my friend find the confidence to get out of her uniform of black trainers, black jeans, frumpy top and I have even seen her for the first time ever wearing a dress.
All in all I think if you are completely lost, SBS does help you gain some confidence and feel better about yourself. However if you want a proper stylist experience it’s definitely not fit for purpose.

Cherrypie32 · 22/07/2020 06:55

Oh I think Susie def read this thread when it was in full swing, to the point of planting a few comments (either herself or via someone else) regarding the stylists and business model. SBS fills a gap in the sense that it’s clearly personal styling for the masses. The ‘tribe’ works for those that really have no creativity or confidence when it comes to dressing (or just need the boost of 93 platitudes saying ‘ you look amazing hun’ to get out the house every morning) That’s great and their ‘stylists’ are very relatable to the average woman, a very clever move on Susie’s behalf. But I find her Svengali like status unbearable, if you follow her on Insta it is almost like the ramblings of a cult leader. I feel that her business is mostly about massaging her ego than genuinely helping the girl next door.

WowStarsWow · 22/07/2020 13:18

I really wish Susie would stop telling autumns to wear MAC Heroine.

Styled by Susie - anyone done it?
TrashPandaTime · 22/07/2020 13:40

She recommends that lipstick for autumns?!

I’m an autumn and that colour would be hideous on me. Cool and clear vs what an autumn should wear of warm and muted.

I also spotted recently one poster who says she been analysed as one season but is so obviously another season. The analysis seems to have boosted the poster’s confidence which is good, but I cringe thinking off how much money she is spending on clothes from the wrong season.

MehMehMeow · 22/07/2020 13:42

I think she’s moved on to planting positive vibes elsewhere - I’ve seen two threads in Facebook groups lately talking about online stylists, swiftly followed by recommendations for SBS

Possiblywickedandlazy · 22/07/2020 14:13

Arghhhh, that lipstick is a WINTER colour! It’s so obviously cool toned. Why on earth would she recommend that to autumns??

Just had a look at her group and already spotted a few people who have definitely been told the wrong season and a few who may have been told the wrong body shape just through a quick scroll down for a few minutes.

EndlessUserName · 22/07/2020 14:22

A bit concerned that they've got my season wrong then! I had an analysis about a year ago. I have dark brown hair, dark dark brown eyebrows, dark brown eyes, quite pale skin, can get a few freckles. Winter or autumn?!

mammaboo2 · 22/07/2020 14:24

@MehMehMeow absolutely! It surprises me that no one else on the group is slightly concerned that there are no negatives allowed. Not everyone is going to love what she recommends.

mammaboo2 · 22/07/2020 14:28

@stopfundinghate I worry that she has my shape wrong! I have accepted the season as the colours suit me (I think). But the shape I am seriously doubting. I want to say something again but have a feeling it won't get me anywhere...again
WowStarsWow · 22/07/2020 14:44

Shape isn't even that important for what you should and shouldn't wear... house of colour talk about style personality. The awful advice about chunky shoes makes me cringe on SBS. Apparently all "curvy" shapes should wear them to balance out their figures. Yeah, an overweight apple is going to look a bit wrong in dainty stilettos, but I'm either an hourglass or pear and because I'm slim I can wear whatever shoes I like. Some posts in the group about "are these shoes chunky enough" beggar belief - how is anyone going to know?!

Mostly I feel sorry for the group members who aren't confident enough to tell whether something looks good on them or not (clue: try things on, lots of things, and look in the mirror/take pics and you'll start to learn what looks good).

TrashPandaTime · 22/07/2020 14:44

@stopfundinghate it’s near impossible to know. It’s far too subtle to be able to tell from a description or even a photo online.

If you look good in...

  • mustard then I’d say autumn
  • a cobalt blue then I’d say winter

But if you want a definitive answer go to house of colour or colour me beautiful. My consultant showed me all the autumn colours and demonstrated how they worked for me and I could totally see it. Yes it costs more but I’m very confident in my season as she helped me see why, rather than just telling me the answer.

EndlessUserName · 22/07/2020 14:51

@WowStarsWow I'm a pear (analysed as a pear by sbs but I'm so obviously a pear even dp could tell me that!) And my analysis went on about chunky shoes which I hate! I could tell they don't suit / I just really don't like them, so decided to ignore that...

@TrashPandaTime thanks! I think I look good in both Grin sbs said I'm an autumn, I always thought I was a winter... Now I have no idea!
