I look forward to September and the change in weather move to autumny clothes.... I don't know why but I really, really fancy some super leather cowboy boots... plus pinafore dresses :)

I've had an overhaul this year as I had a bit of an unexpected windfall.
I've got some cocoon/tapered/80s style jeans, I have a giraffe print beret.
I've bought some dunlop green flash trainers.
I have a 1980s batwing sleeved tartan baggy coat arriving from ebay. I am very pleased with this.
I don't feel happy unless I am wearing something vintage. I just don't feel right.

Leftiefterson · 02/09/2019 11:07

I haven’t bought clothes for myself really in about 2 years - piece here and there due to pregnancy and motherhood so I’m due a splurge.

@championquartz - we should do Friday twinning! 😂😂😂 I’m glad someone irl has it and loves it. I’m hoping the sizing will be ok on the Zara dress because I do find their sizing odd. Normally I’m a small in jackets/coats but can sometimes go up to a medium if it’s a particularly tight fit. I’ve ordered two sizes and will return one.

@JMAngel1 and @cathyandclare not to be a clothes pusher but really, can you afford not to get it? It’s a great piece for work and smart/casual.

I’m after some decent maxi dresses that I can wear with trainers.

I’ve woken up to a tonne of email notifications telling me my deliveries are due this week. I can’t even bear to tot up the total. May have also bought yet more Bella Freud cashmere (in my defence they were on sale).

@happytobemrsg - I may send it back if I don’t love it because I agree it’s eye wateringly expensive.

cathyandclare · 02/09/2019 11:38

May have caved in!! Blush

It is beautiful though Grin

JMAngel1 · 02/09/2019 11:45

Oh god don't tempt me - the problem is I've set a £300 budget between now and Jan and I need a new coat, boots, probably 2 jumpers, 2 pairs of trousers and a couple of shirts. The jacket would eat a good cbunk of it - I have a fairly modest budget as my skincare/beauty spend is high!

CtrlAltDelight · 02/09/2019 12:29

'm delurking to tell you all that you are all terrible enablers. I'm sworn off fast-fashion and I am only buying things I consider classics and that will complement items already in my wardrobe but Autumn is my absolute favourite season.

I've coveted a cape for ages so all the talk a few pages back led me to finding the navy J Crew one from Asos - just my size and was the very last one. It's absolutely beautiful and I feel very swishy wearing it.

My Sparks offers were 20% off trousers or skirts from M&S so got the checked/tartan skirt I've been eyeing up for a while. I've got berry, navy and mustard jumpers to go with it already, as well as navy or berry tights. Most sizes now OOS: www.marksandspencer.com/jersey-checked-pencil-skirt/p/p60264657

I've also jumped and ordered this midi dress from M&S before it goes OOS. Not sure about the length or where the waist will fall so this might be going back but it looks such good value for something that will last me for years: www.marksandspencer.com/belted-herringbone-fit-and-flare-midi-dress/p/p60272884

And it occurred to me the other day that my trusty black Debenhams trench coat is at least 15 years old and is starting to look a little past its best! I'm unsure about the length but ordered a sand-coloured trench from Warehouse with the 20% discount at the top of the page: www.warehouse.co.uk/gb/clothing/jackets-and-coats/check-lined-trench-coat/035309.html?dwvar_035309_color=05&cgid=coats-casual-jackets

I LOVE THAT CAPE. And yes I am sorry for shouting, but I love it that much!

happytobemrsg · 02/09/2019 13:38

You have fabulous taste @CtrlAltDelight!

CtrlAltDelight · 02/09/2019 14:02

@Atalune - it's past-season J Crew from what I can work out and it's BACK IN STOCK in S/M!

www.asos.com/jcrew-mercantile/jcrew-mercantile-wool-cape/prd/10735165

@happytobemrsg - why, thank you blushes.

I haven't got a massive budget to play with but I find the right pieces last me absolutely years. I'm fairly hour-glass and I've come to the conclusion that contemporary fashion doesn't flatter me so I have to look for more vintage-esqe shapes to suit.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 02/09/2019 15:43

Beautiful cape, I bet it looks fabulous. I like a slightly dramatic look in the colder months if you know what I mean?

SuddenBeetE · 02/09/2019 16:13

I’ve bought a couple of cream/beige jumpers knitted. One other stories and one ASOS. To wear under an as yet not purchased tan faux fur coat with my high waisted mom jeans.

Really need boots but can’t find anything I love. I’ve got a topshop order coming with a couple of pairs in.

Leftiefterson · 02/09/2019 16:57

@cathyandclare I’m celebrating for you! Hope we love it.

@CtrlAltDelight - what a beautiful cape. I don’t need any more costs/jacket but a cape is something different in itself isn’t it? I eek like I need this. I have the perfect pair of ankle boots that would go with it.

happytobemrsg · 02/09/2019 17:38

I’ve just been shopping my wardrobe... I found an off white cropped cable knit jumper I’ve had for years from Topshop & it looks fab over my flowy maxi dresses- win! I’ve added a few new looks new to my Stylebook app.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 02/09/2019 18:49

I’ve been shopping my wardrobe too and found a forgotten pair of leather gloves, and a really nice red bag plus a short quilted black jacket which could be good for this current weather, there’s a chill in the air. I need to get a bit more organised.

tentative3 · 02/09/2019 19:13

@CtrlAltDelight what's the fit like on the cape? It's utterly gorgeous and I want one but not sure on sizing!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/09/2019 19:32

Some lovely things here. I especially like the saddle bags and the cape.

I'm on the look-out for a lightweight grey cape-jacket thing, if anybody happens to come across one!

LuxuryWoman2018 · 02/09/2019 19:38

It will be the season of capes! I’m rather fancying some kind of hat too, a peaked beret. I have that same Saddlebag @Steviestamborine really pleased with it.

In the spirit of being organised I’m going to polish boots and get a pair reheeled.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/09/2019 19:52

I need a plain jumper of some variety, all of mine are striped or cardies. Shame we can't link up apps and swap recommendations 😂

Miseryisabutterfly · 02/09/2019 19:59

@happytobemrsg still haven’t received those jumpers but will post pictures when I do! I need your help 🙏 So I have about 2 days left to return this dress... I’ve just tried on with tights, trainers and a cardigan (very much my style once the weather gets cooler, I’m a bit of a slob). Anyway is it awful or worth keeping? I know I will get nightgown/armish/Mormon comments 😂

happytobemrsg · 02/09/2019 20:20

I think the dress looks fab on you @Miseryisabutterfly! It’s the sort of dress which needs a slouchy cardigan like that. I think it looks great (reminds me why I love mine so much!). Have you tried a belt with it? It’s a different look but still pretty. I use belts/other accessories to get more outfits out of my dresses.

happytobemrsg · 02/09/2019 20:22

@BarrenFieldofFucks a few of us are considering the “mock neck sweater” from &Other Stories - just waiting for Misery to receive her delivery!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/09/2019 20:53

barren and happy I have those jumpers from last year. They are really lovely, cosy, and a good length - on the cropped side so perfect with high waisted things. I’m a size 10 and got S. However, they did not wash particularly well, and are relegated to “house wear” this year.

Atalune · 02/09/2019 20:57

misery I love that dress. I wonder if it would look good with a grey crew neck sweater worn over. Or a longer cardigan that comes below the hip?

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/09/2019 21:05

I'm a bit bigger than you ladies, not sure they'd suit me, lovely as they are.

Have ordered a plain black merino jumper from m&s as a warm basic. Some of the burgundy buckled boots jumped in at 20% off too. 😬

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/09/2019 21:09

Misery - I like the dress but personally not loving the black tights and black trainers with it. Whilst the weather is still quite mild, I think it would look nice with bare legs and white trainers. Or maybe try fishnets with the black trainers to break up the black a bit?

Also this uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_11.3/7494127908?skipRedirection=true

From monsoon. Think the teal would suit my summer colouring.
