I look forward to September and the change in weather move to autumny clothes.... I don't know why but I really, really fancy some super leather cowboy boots... plus pinafore dresses :)

Live the belt! I have a driving lesson tomorrow so maybe not the best thing to wear but def this week I will!

Dora26 · 01/09/2019 18:32

Fly London chelsea boots in “camel” - have them already in purple and they are a wardrobe staple. Doubly sweet as I saved €40 buying them on Amazon!

EnidButton · 01/09/2019 20:13

What do people wear with maxi or midi dresses? I really like them but not sure which boots or shoes would go for everyday?

Also, black tights or not? I love them with shorter dresses but not sure about longer ones.

Sigh81 · 01/09/2019 20:24

I wear mine with sandals, brogues or knee high boots, Enid. Depends on how floaty or woollen or close fitting the dress is. And what the colours are! What the shoes are dictate what tights I wear.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/09/2019 20:27

misery I have those “mock neck sweaters” from Stories from last year. They are lovely but a word of warning that they have gone pretty ratty with washing - mine are now for wearing with joggers round the house.

That Zara dress is fab. Is it the sister dress of the polka dot one?

happytobemrsg · 01/09/2019 20:35

I’ll be wearing mine with black or tan Chelsea boots @EnidButton. I’m 5ft 6” so you see ankle. If it’s super chilly I’ll wear them with thick tights & long boots (so you don’t see the tights).

Miseryisabutterfly · 01/09/2019 21:44

Oh no @Judystilldreamsofhorses thanks for the warning! They really are a lovely shape and a good price. The Zara dress does indeed look like the sister of the polka dot one.

@happytobemrsg I’ve not got the jumpers delivered yet, hopefully tomorrow... so will let you know! I’m an 8-10 and ordered the small. I love the pistachio too! Was very tempted! The rust is gorgeous, maybe you can find in store? I have a jumper from there I bought last year in the same colour and it’s one of my most worn. I love your new belt and glad you got the dress! Sadly I look silly in belts. I have a very high waist and they just look wrong.

EnidButton · 01/09/2019 21:44

We're the same height MrsG Smile I have skinny ankles so maybe a lace up ankle boot would be good. (Like the All Saints ones). Sigh For colder weather here Up North Knee boots sound good. I really want to get some new ones anyway so this'll be a good excuse. Thank you both.

EnidButton · 01/09/2019 21:48

Or Chelsea boots, like you have MrsG, always look good when I'm people watching for outfit ideas... I need a trying on shopping trip. I'll end up buying all the boots! I love them.

happytobemrsg · 01/09/2019 22:06

Please do let me know what you think of them Misery, perhaps a photo if you can? I had DS2 12 days ago so doing all my shopping online atm - don’t fancy dragging everyone to the shops! Will just have to keep checking the website. I’m not too worried about the washing as they would be in rotation with a lot of other outfits (thanks to the Stylebook app)

@Judystilldreamsofhorses I have the white Zara dress (I also bought a couple more which I dyed) so I have high hopes for the red one! I hope I can carry it off - it looks very bright.

happytobemrsg · 01/09/2019 22:15

I have such awkward feet @EnidButton but I ordered those boots in one size, two different colours & they fit perfectly! My mum couldn’t believe it (she’s had 30 years of despairing over getting shoes that fit me 😂)

Girlinajumpsuit · 01/09/2019 22:53

@Miseryisabutterfly love that red dress. And the leather trousers - are they Zara too? I'm desperately trying to branch out from jeans and jumpers this Autumn so these are my recent purchases..

Think I'll start buying things tomorrow. Feeling inspired now. Plus a bit irritable so could do with the retail therapy Grin

I like your purchases Girl. Especially that first skirt. Haven't looked at Topshop yet.

Leftiefterson · 02/09/2019 00:13

I’m so excited that autumn is here. I was trying for a baby last autumn and got pregnant fairly quickly so I didn’t update my wardrobe as I knew I’d be getting fat so have decided I need to completely update my autumn wardrobe. Tomorrow I’m going to have a sort out and be absolutely ruthless.

I need some cashmere and fancied a roll neck from the white company, anyone got one? Is the quality decent?

www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/search?text=cashmere+roll+neck

I’ve ordered a jacket from Zara which looks lovely

m.zara.com/uk/en/tweed-jacket-with-poplin-p07950795.html?v1=20853902&v2=773004

And I’ve also ordered a houndstooth coat from Zara - such a good price

m.zara.com/uk/en/houndstooth-coat-p07897519.html?v1=20587999&v2=1281662

I need a new black coat so fancying this one from Maje, pricey but they are long lasting

uk.maje.com/en/ready-to-wear/collection/coats-and-jackets/119galar/MFPOU00304.html?dwvar_MFPOU00304_color=2517#start=15

I’m in the market for maxi/midi dresses and probably a new pair of boots but not the stiletto style - really don’t like them. I want to find a chunky heel.

JMAngel1 · 02/09/2019 09:32

Leftie, you have great taste - the Zara jacket is gorgeous - Trinny tried it on in a vlog last week, it's beautuful on. I would love it but it's super pricey.
I'm v jealous of your budget - the Maje is perfection.
I currently have two virtual baskets - one from M&S! with £95 worth in ( leopard print v cut kitten heels, 2 cornflower blue v neck jumpers, a strapless bra and a dark denim shirt) and one from Boohoo for around £80 (a navy wrap belted coat, a light blue denim shirt, a white denim shirt, black high waisted cigerette pants and a black ribbed long sleeved square neck body). All basic boring stuff really - nothing on trend or cutting edge. Not quite ready to bite the bullet yet as experience has told me that the earlier I buy for autumn, the more I buy so going to get all my clothes down from the attic and have a play first to see what I really need/want. Going to try to hold off until October - sits on hands!
I really want some pleather cigarette pants and something in the new millenial purple colour - not seen much of it yet. I also need to replace my beloved high heel biker boots - lord knows where. I got 3 years out of my old pair but they they have officially split across the toes - gutted as they were high but super wearable.

BarrenFieldofFucks · 02/09/2019 09:41

I think I need another cross body bag. I have the Joules one pictured here, but it is quite structured/old fashioned perhaps?

JMAngel1 · 02/09/2019 09:51

Barren , no that's on trend still - it's a bit Chloe-esque and saddle bags are huge so crack on!

championquartz · 02/09/2019 10:10

I have the black boucle Zara jacket too. It really is gorgeous on. When I tried it on it was one of those 'I have to buy this' moments. I rarely have those moments, but this was one. Love it. I love the shape, the fabric, the removable white cuffs, the diamante buttons, the puff sleeves, the length. There isn't anything I don't love.
Can you tell I like it?Grin

JMAngel1 · 02/09/2019 10:15

Wait it's boucle!!!! So is it warm? Please say no ( give me reasons not to buy it!!) I bloody love those shoulders.

JMAngel1 · 02/09/2019 10:16

Oh god no, the cuffs are part of it!!! Please stop!

championquartz · 02/09/2019 10:21

@JMAngel Grin

Is it warm? I don't know yet, but it is cotton and the lining is viscose so at least it's breathable. I was planning to wear if over t-shirts, shirts and blouses, and over sweaters in the winter.

And yes the cuffs are part of it and are removable! I know. Could it be more perfectGrin

cathyandclare · 02/09/2019 10:24

Noooo, I was meant to be doing second hand September but I LOVE that jacket. @championquartz and @Leftiefterson- what's the sizing like? I'm sometimes and XS and sometimes a S in Zara jackets.

championquartz · 02/09/2019 10:31

Sizing? I am a small 10 on top, and usually buy a XS or S in Zara. They didn't have either in stock so I tried on the M and it's ok. I will order the S for comparison but I think I'll probably stick with the M - it's v comfortable. I would like it to be a little more fitted around the waist but it's worn open, there are no buttons to close it, so it doesn't matter, iykwim.

In short, it probably comes up a bit neat/small.

happytobemrsg · 02/09/2019 10:42

LOVE the coat from Maje @Leftiefterson - unfortunately WAY out of my budget 😢

Steviestamborine · 02/09/2019 10:42

Jumping on to say I also love the jacket, I bought some wrist warmers as I have reynauds syndrome and also need very warm, soft socks.
Barrenfield I bought this on a recommendation from her and I’m really pleased with it, trend or not it’s practical and I think looks nice
