I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

Aw look at those teeth! Cute

GrumbleBumble · 21/07/2019 20:17

One of my favourite photos of DS is him aged about two lying on his back laughing like crazy wearing an England (rugby) shirt. Kate has obviously recreated it with George!

itswinetime · 21/07/2019 20:20

Well my guess is they have to be given to the press the day before so they can make the papers then someone leaks it, it would be almost impossible to trace which paper let alone which person.

The only thing the Cambridge's could do is stop letting the press have them early and just posting them On social media but I doubt that is really worth the bad PR and feelings it's would cause it's not like they are extra photos just early.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/07/2019 20:32

Really cute photos. So lovely to see him laughing.

LifeOfBox · 21/07/2019 20:36

George has George VI's eyes in the middle shot.

SlipperOrchid · 21/07/2019 20:37

Ah they are fab! Esp the one if him lying on the grass.

It’s easy to get natural photos esp if his mum is the person taking them. You just keep the camera with you and keep snapping all the time. Just like these photos.

My child is currently in bed with a tooth that fell out today under her pillow. The photos of happy smiles are so cute (on children only! 😀)

Oh gosh I love that one of him lying on his back ,laughing .

FruitcakeAndCheese · 21/07/2019 20:47

Thanks for the pics! He looks like a proper, lovely little boy.

AppleKatie · 21/07/2019 21:00

How do you parent a future king- do you think he has any concept that one day he will be king? Did someone tell him age 2 so it’s just a fact like any other. Or do they let the realisation slowly dawn over the next five years or so?

Psychological nightmare I don’t envy Kate that aspect of motherhood.

itswinetime · 21/07/2019 21:03

I'm not sure how things currently stand I imagine school changed things a bit but a few years ago I'm sure there was a comment from William saying George had no idea. I guess the good thing is the only other person who knows how it feels is your parent so I guess william will take the lead there he should know what does doesn't help 🤷🏻‍♀️

AppleKatie · 21/07/2019 21:06

Yes I suppose William has some idea. Nothing will ramn it home like the next coronation though which will likely be before George reaches his majority. (Obviously hopefully not!).

I’d imagine you’d want him to know what to say when little lord X from 1B mentions something in the playground though Grin

Today I visited Roskilde Cathedral, where loads of Danish Monarchs are buried. There’s a tomb under a plastic cover (until the tomb is required) which was commissioned for Queen Margrethe and her husband. Apparently he then decided he didn’t want to be buried there and had his ashes scattered elsewhere. When I had a google it turned out he was really peeved that for 50 years he was Prince Consort rather than King (although, apparently, didn’t blame his wife for this). It does seem a bit daft in this day and age. Now that the law has been changed in the UK to allow females to inherit ahead of their younger brothers, would their male spouses be King or Prince. It must be galling for Prince Phillip too.

itswinetime · 21/07/2019 21:09

There is an interview with Sophie and Edward in one of the documentaries where they say there kids had no idea granny was the queen till they were at school and someone told them. They are obviously a bit further removed from it all. I don't remember ever hearing about William talking about how he found out 🤔

JohnandMary · 21/07/2019 21:09

Here’s the tomb and cover.

I couldn’t imagine letting my DC be blindsided by that information but I guess it works for them 😂

You’d think they’d figure it out what with the big balcony they appear on every year? I mean if not ‘the queen’ what do they think is going on? 😂

threadneedle · 21/07/2019 21:16

Dh is just back from a weekend away which included a house warming party at a relatives new house. We were talking about it a dinner and he casually mentions that the previous owner was a member of the Dutch Royal Family 😵 Dammit I knew I should have gone with him, at least I would have extracted more information about who exactly it was!

threadneedle · 21/07/2019 21:18

George looks lovely in his birthday photos, nothing cuter that a gap toothed smile

JaimeBronde · 21/07/2019 21:21

Ah great photos of George!
Love the England t shirt.
I also read that W&K aren't telling George about the King stuff till he is older & are going to explain it as a type of job in the family firm which everyone in the family usually works for.
Somehow can't see that discussion going down that well as apparently George is quite stubborn but gentle too.
Anyway I last heard that he wants to be a policeman or a helicopter pilot when he grows up.

AliasGrape · 21/07/2019 21:24

Gorgeous pictures of George!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/07/2019 21:29

Apparently George doesn’t know he’s going to be King

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/07/2019 21:30

Sorry x-post

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/07/2019 21:34

Harry Once said no one wants the top job.
I do wonder what parts of being Monarch people do not like.
Thé lack of privacy extends to quite a few of the senior royals.
As does the forward planning of your life for months ahead.
I think the red boxes would be tedious.
However, you can meet anyone you want, life of unparalleled luxury.
I guess the complaint is; they can’t do “ rich men jobs” but surely Monarch beats working a 12 hour shift in a factory or down a mine etc.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 21/07/2019 21:35

Lovely photos of George.

AppleKatie · 21/07/2019 21:39

When the top job can’t be applied for, involves your parent/grandparent dying, is very prestigious, comes with power and is destined for someone very close to you then you are left with no other option than to say ‘nope I don’t want it not me’

Because really what else is there. Can you imagine a scenario where Harry says ‘well yes actually I would love to be king, quite fancy doing that one!’

In a monarchy surely you have to make peace with ‘your place’ or go mad?
