I love this dress, think she looks good! Am I the only one?

Or a sapphire

Teddybear45 · 16/07/2019 13:39

She is beautiful and a genuine trendsetter / fashion role model, similar in vein to Amal Clooney, for higher earning women of colour in a way that Kate and the other Royals just can’t be. I love her clothes and often find myself googling similar (but cheaper!) styles.

I think she’s suffering from the same thing many of us do as our shape, size and lifestyle changes.

She had the celebrity wardrobe sorted but perhaps it is not suitable for her new role as a British royal (probably not in the public’s mind but in the establishments old fashioned rule book).

I don’t think she’s found a comfortable “uniform” for the big engagements yet...for example on her wedding day and prior she dressed in a way that really suited her, but probably had more autonomy. I think she will look great once she gets in her stride, the weight is a non issue IMO but she will of course look very matronly next to Kate as the Middletons just have different body shapes.

anon812 · 16/07/2019 13:47

Yeah Kate is a natural beanpole. A goddess beanpole, but a beanpole nonetheless. I certainly wouldn't want to be photographed next to her 😂

Nikhedonia · 16/07/2019 13:59

Kate wasn't that much of a beanpole before, was she? Didn't she have that horrible nickname "weighty-Katie" at Uni? I think her figure is perfect and in my opinion she has the ideal body shape.

I think MM just needs some time and a decent stylist.

BertrandRussell · 16/07/2019 14:04

It was Waity-Katie, not Weighty-Katie!

Nikhedonia · 16/07/2019 14:11

Oh right, yes! Wasn't it the same jibe? That she was perceived as being chubby then?

LookWhosInTheRejectBin · 16/07/2019 14:22

No, wasn't it because of how long she waited for William to propose to her? That's what I always thought it meant...

SemperIdem · 16/07/2019 14:33

Meghan is beautiful and I particularly liked her pre-pregnancy style, unfussy clean lines etc. That black dress was too tight but she looked lovely overall.

“Waity- Katy” referred the general belief she was sat on her arse waiting for a proposal doing nothing particularly productive with her life.

It was never to do with her weight.

PatchworkElmer · 16/07/2019 14:33

I think she’s a very attractive woman, and I’m sure she’s a lovely person, but her choice clothing is very rarely to my taste- not that she would care what I think!! I remember her wearing a lovely soft pink, off the shoulder dress once, which I really liked.

She certainly looks a lot better than I did at 2 months PP!!

anon812 · 16/07/2019 14:44

It was waity katy not weighty Katy. Nothing to do with her weight. It was because she waited 8 years or something until William proposed. But tbh they started dating at 20 or something like that so it's not as if he would pop the question at 23. So always thought it was a bit of a weird jibe. Who knows, maybe it was waity wills waiting till she was ready! Either way he bagged himself a winner she will be a great queen and their marriage will go the distance.

NoTheresa · 16/07/2019 14:47

Kate has never been “weighty”! It was a snide reference to her apparent willingness to hang around waiting for PW to make an honest woman of her!!

BertrandRussell · 16/07/2019 14:50

“it was waity wills waiting till she was ready”

Except if the gossip is to be believed, he dumped her and went out with other people while she did not very much at all.

Nikhedonia · 16/07/2019 15:22

Grin No idea where I got that from then! Must have just seen the headline and not read the detail. Oops! Blush ignore me!

anon812 · 16/07/2019 15:43

@BertrandRussell haha maybe, although #longgame she will be queen of England one day, reckon I would stay quiet for that (if I could actually deal with being a member of the royal fam, which I probs couldn't). Wish I looked like Kate tho 😂😂

LaMarschallin · 16/07/2019 16:29

I wonder what stone it was, looked too light to be an emerald.

Aquamarine, I think.

anon812 · 16/07/2019 17:22

@LaMarschallin makes sense. Lovely ring!

Beachcountrysidetown · 16/07/2019 20:19

She is absolutely gorgeous but those very tight buns look painful, and that dress does too. I’d like to see her looking more comfortable

MediocreOmens · 16/07/2019 20:48

I think she is beautiful but that dress just doesn't do it for me. I don't think the dress going straight across like that is flattering on anyone with a hint of boob and I say that as a bigger busted woman. I think it had the makings of a beautiful classic dress but didn't quite hit the mark.

Kudos to her stepping out in front of billions of people last night though, at two months postpartum I think I'd struggle to attend a BBQ.

thisenglishlife · 16/07/2019 22:51

Good points @SamanthaBrique

"Obligations like royal tours, taking on charity patronages, attending various events? She's done all those! She's also worn her share of British fashion, both high street and designer"

BertrandRussell · 16/07/2019 23:10

There are always dark mutterings about “obligations” she doesn’t fulfil. But there is never any proper explanation. She goes bare legged sometimes and wears dark nail polish. Well colour me shocked!

.....
An enviable pair of buns, I wouldn't mind them (not full of milk though).

HernameisGio · 17/07/2019 02:09

She suits a more relaxed look. Nothing wrong at all with her figure etc but it’s a poorly fitting dress and her hair is severe. She is very stylish in her day looks.

Peakypolly · 17/07/2019 02:20

I give her a full pass for the weight, she’s only two months postpartum
How gracious of you Hmm What weight?
I think she looks beautiful.
