The dress of the summer, apparently. It’s a no from me, I’m afraid.Confused

It's not to my taste but I know two people with it who look good wearing it, it seems to sit much nicer than the model shots.

tomtom1999xx · 14/07/2019 10:27

I think you have to be fairly tall & slim to really carry it off.

Moondancer73 · 14/07/2019 10:28

Hideous 🤮

nitgel · 14/07/2019 10:31

It looks nice on misery. I like it in a retro Laura ashley way but would look crap on me. Would prefer it with a v neck too. Is it cotton?

NoCureForLove · 14/07/2019 10:34

I've seen it in rl. The fabric is horrid. You'd be a very sweaty fashionista in it.

NoCureForLove · 14/07/2019 10:35

100% NOT cotton.

Marmelised · 14/07/2019 10:35

I saw this for the first time yesterday. A young woman was wearing it on the tube. She was well groomed, slim, blonde, pretty, very self collected. Despite all that I thought it looked awful and guessed it must be a fashion moment. Cool on a hot day though so at least practical.

ElspethFlashman · 14/07/2019 10:43

There's an Instagram account called @clothesmyboyfriendhates or something and she bought the dress. It looked nice on her (but she's a size 8) and she wears it to death but she got so sick of seeing everyone else wearing it that she dyed it pink in the washing machine.

Other people are doing the same, one dyed theirs blue and one khaki (the best one, imo)

Ellapaella · 14/07/2019 10:46

@Miseryisabutterfly that looks lovely. Really suits you.

Floisme · 14/07/2019 11:13

I'm surprised they can dye it - what's the fabric?

AgnesNutterWitch · 14/07/2019 11:32

I don't love it but I don't hate it. I'm a bit puzzled as to how it's gone viral. Is it super comfortable maybe?

RickOShay · 14/07/2019 11:41

I think it’s lovely. I would wear it, but I am tall (5 8) and think I would look too big in it.

dontgobaconmyheart · 14/07/2019 12:03

It looked truly, really great on the people I've seen it on in real life but they both were very slim and had that Sienna's Miller, cool boho vibe (and matching hair). I think you also need to be fairly tall and have a tan for it to work tbh. A friend has it and was telling me it was her most worn summer dress, this was before it went viral. She gave the rationale that it hid any bloating so was great for going for food, was comfy and airy, made her feel cool, and went with any colour shoes/bag so could be dressed up or down.

I briefly wanted it after seeing it on other people and them looking so on trend and summery but I don't think I'm cool enough to pull it off and definitely wouldn't want it now it's become so comically ubiquitous anyway.

GrabbyMcGrabby · 14/07/2019 12:35

It's made out of viscose which is a natural fabric. Viscose is made from wood pulp. So the dress can be dyed.

GrabbyMcGrabby · 14/07/2019 12:36

Saw several out and about yesterday. Looks ok.

Pipandmum · 14/07/2019 12:38

@Miseryisabutterfly it looks so much better on you than the model! I haven’t seen it in real life but how can they call it a maxi - it’s a midi.

SemperIdem · 14/07/2019 12:40

Misery it looks great on you, really like how you have styled it with the boots.

I’m the wrong shape for it currently, I’ve put on weight and it all goes to my boobs, so anything floaty ends up looking like a mumu.

EdWinchester · 14/07/2019 12:41

If you look on its Insta page, there is not ONE person that looks good in it. Most of them look like a ship in full sale.

Mamaslave18 · 14/07/2019 12:45

I have this but would only wear it with a belt otherwise it’s too sacklike. I’ve only worn it twice and have had to stop ad it’s everywhere!

SwedishEdith · 14/07/2019 12:45

It's very Railway Children. I don't think many people suit white and, being viscose, it'll be hot.

MayFayner · 14/07/2019 12:47

@AndromedaPerseus Shock my mother had that pattern!

And yes I had several versions of this dress as a small child. Mine were all in Liberty prints though (not even nice ones).

I couldn’t wear it now. Well I might wear it on holiday or in the garden. But not into work or out, I’m far too old.

workhelp1 · 14/07/2019 12:48

I like it and would wear it. I think it suits a willowy figure best.

PuppyMonkey · 14/07/2019 12:54

Lordy, if I was willowy, I’m sure I wouldn’t want to wear something that made me look like a 101 Dalmatians tribute act.Grin

BusterGonad · 14/07/2019 12:56

It's got zero sex appeal which is fine, but I personally like to wear things which give me a waist. Without a hint of a waist I look like a sack of spuds. I think it looks best on figures that are straight up and down as with anyone else it adds pounds, which may not be a good thing.

Supergirlthesecond · 14/07/2019 12:56

@slipperywhensparticus since when have we been catered for?!!!
