Is interesting - as we were saying before, Kate and W seem so reserved and “perfect”. They’re so well managed. But that works well when you have lip readers and paps everywhere and at all times. A constant act (not in a bad way).

Sadly for M and H, the more casual and relaxed approach is tricky when you’re up against a fairly vicious press. You can’t even whisper a fairly innocuous comment to Pharrell. That’s the lesson - it’s sad but true. They have no privacy.

Honestly I’m not sure H properly told M about how OTT this would be. There’s no way a grown woman - even one who’d been in the spotlight, in fact especially one who knows a bit of what that’s like - who choose to live that way

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2019 21:25

Oh sorry, I have a stray the there.

MotherofPearl · 16/07/2019 21:28

I must admit that what I've always enjoyed about these threads is the gentle gossip about clothes and knowledgeable chatter about royal history. I enjoy the tone which I've generally found witty, light-hearted and generous.

Of late I do think there have been times when the gossip side of things has tipped over into something a little harsher and it's made me feel less inclined to take part.

PCohle · 16/07/2019 21:28

Camilla does look lovely and a bit more modern than in some of the styles she usually favours.

I think Meghan's comment was pretty unfortunate. I assume with time and practice she'll, sadly, learn to be more guarded.

Bellasblankexpression · 16/07/2019 21:33

Camilla rarely puts a foot wrong in my opinion, since her glorious wedding outfit in fact.

Couldn’t be less interested in whether Meghan hugs or doesn’t hug, I’m here for the frocks!
Hoping there will be a good outfit from Kate for the regatta - when do they go on their tours is it next year?

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/07/2019 21:36

The regatta outfit will be something casual, probably navy and white stripes.

The tours are all happening from autumn, I think.

Bella I agree about Camilla, her wedding dress was beautiful and she rarely gets it wrong outfit wise.

Not much royal fashion on IG today so no pictures to nudge us back towards the style element of the thread. I have been pondering royal complexions today though (as I debate whether or not to buy the Elemis TSV) and I’d love to know what products they use both for skin care and make up. How they never seem to gets spots is most intriguing......I always seem to have one or two hormonal ones on the go, and they don’t always cover up well. Good job no one wants to take my picture on a daily basis, heaven only knows what you lot would have to say about me.......Grin

Wetdogloveshubert · 16/07/2019 21:44

@Laiste I know this was yesterday's conversation, but in relation to playdates with George, Michelle Obama's book covers this. Her children had to go through the craziness of friend's houses being scoped by the secret service, cars being checked out etc. It's not something the services will be unaware of fortunately.

On the style front, I saw this on Instagram and thought you'd all like Charlene in rather Madonna-esque accessories.

Also how does their makeup not sweat off?!? How?

Notmyrealname855 · 16/07/2019 21:45

Charlene seems lovely :) Looking great in red

JaimeBronde · 16/07/2019 21:48

Remember in that episode of The Crown where the Queen (Claire Foy) is at the couturier or the couturier comes to the Palace & HM is shown all the clothes suggested for her & Philip's upcoming Commonwealth Tour? Does something like that happen now or in real life for the RF today?
Or do they peruse a look book, shop online (their stylists/themselves)?
Does Kate for example ever get the urge to pop into (in disguise) M&S for her undies or Space NK for her cosmetics?
Diana was a fan of disguises but she did go dressed normally (along with her security detail) to the Brompton Road WHSmith. My friend who lived near that area at said she was incredibly tall & was usually buying magazines/comics/kids stationery.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/07/2019 21:49

@frugalkitty I remember reading an interview with an actress years ago saying if she got a bad spot just before a big event then she'd get her dermatologist to give her an injection in them that would bring the inflammation down - maybe cortisone?

ElspethFlashman · 16/07/2019 21:54

Apparently HM is all about the Clarins.

Kate was once spotted buying Nivea face cream in Boots (not the Q10 one, the other one, Natural something? ) but this was back in 2012 when her tastes were a bit more High Street so I wouldn't bet on her still being a Nivea girl, tbh.

Loveislandaddict · 16/07/2019 22:04

Brining it back to fashion, did anyone watch Royal Wardrobes with Lucy (girl-crush) Worsley recently?

I didn't but will add it to my list!

I love that Daisy is fully tiaraed-up for her TV interview! (and a tiara I don't recognise...)

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/07/2019 22:19

Charlene looks fabulous in the red lip stick. She really suits short hair as wel l.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/07/2019 22:23

some fab photos from James Middleton 's Instagram. Dm link.
I think he lived a Zara Tindall type life. Has money; benefits from the game association but is not scrutinised too heavily.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 16/07/2019 22:24

Autocorrect. 😣😬

DontFearTheReaper · 16/07/2019 22:28

I think being American she may have not realised what all of the royal family stuff entails over here - the history, the press, the headlines and coverage etc - Rob Lowe made a comment on prince william recently when promoting his new show, something to do with baldness (can’t remember exactly what) and he was taken aback at the headlines and coverage it generated - a Brit had to explain to him how it worked. This is not a slight on Americans btw, but it’s definitely a weird thing if you haven’t grown up with it.

Bellasblankexpression · 16/07/2019 22:28

I would love to know their skin secrets too - I yearn to look that fresh and smooth and glowy of complexion.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2019 22:33

I remember reading something about Camilla using some bee venom cream and getting Kate into it too.

But it would have been in Grazia, so chances if the story being actually true are pretty slim.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/07/2019 22:36

@Bellasblankexpression I believe the secret is called money!

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 16/07/2019 22:39

Yes, quite...If i had huge amounts of money I’d look like a 1000x better version of myself, for sure!

Rich people always seem to have a perfect year round tan.
