Fat is indeed a descriptor...for fat people, which Meghan patently is not. Hmm

Kate has nannies, a school age child, a pre-school age child and a toddler. She’s not running around after triplet toddlers is she.

So no, I don’t buy that she looks as she does because she’s “running around after the kids” but rather because of good genes and because she chooses to look that way.

Ninkaninus · 13/07/2019 17:18

Haven’t got the energy or inclination to properly comment on feminism and pregnancy/weight gain/weight loss/judgement on women for either, as that’s quite a complex subject, but just wanted to say let’s not forget that Kate suffered very badly with HG throughout each of her pregnancies. She would likely not have had to work at or try not to gain weight, it would have been almost impossible for her to do so even if she’d wanted to. I was very severely sick for over half my first pregnancy, being sick multiple times daily (in fact I might have been diagnosed with HG had I known it was a thing and to look into it). I weighed less when I had given birth to my first daughter than I did before I got pregnant.

thatone · 13/07/2019 17:22

Kate's dress just looks to heavy - fabric and colour-wise - for the occasion. Meghan's skirt would look better with a different top. The skirt does look familiar though, I think it's a re-wear.

thatone · 13/07/2019 17:23

or just very similar to a previous one

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/07/2019 17:29

I wonder if anyone actually read my post. My whole point was they they are the shape they are through current circumstance, which is likely to change, and therefore neither of them ought to be judged negatively for it.

EleanorReally · 13/07/2019 17:30

are they there again tomorrow?, anyone know?

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/07/2019 17:33

Kate is back tomorrow, with William.

Kate and Pippa stayed on for the doubles matches too.

William and Kate are there again tomorrow! Would surprise me pippa was to

I doubt Meghan will be as her and Harry have the lion king premiere in the evening and I don't know if she's back from maternity leave or not at this point but 2 events in a day seems unlikely to me

LenoVentura · 13/07/2019 17:37

Pippa wins by a country mile. As to her wearing £8900 earrings, she will do, won't she, being married to a billionaire and all. She's in the lucky position of not being able to be criticised for her spending (or anything really) because it's not public money (or what is believed to be public money). Nor is she subject to any rules about gifts, so it's likely that she is given stuff to wear, or gets a heavy discount because she's in the public eye.

I wouldn't change places with either of the duchesses, but would swap with Pippa in a heartbeat.

frugalkitty · 13/07/2019 17:38

Years ago I read an article about celebrity mums in Hollywood getting back into shape quickly because apparently it was common to book an elective c-section at eight months, the theory being that the baby doesn't put the last big weight gain on so neither does the mother. Due dates would be fiddled accordingly to make it seem that the baby was full term. Now I don't know how true that story is, but I remember feeling rather depressed that it could even be considered an option. Even in an industry which relies on looks/figure etc etc how depressing that it could be seen as an ok thing to do.

Looking at pictures of Pippa's dress, it looks rather like Laura Ashley summer palace wallpaper......I still like it though!!! And goodness, what a lot to spend on earrings.....what if she loses one?

ElspethFlashman · 13/07/2019 17:39

God Wimbledon gets a hell of a lot of Royal attention in comparison to other sports.

It's a bit messed up when you think about it. Is it true cricket has no Royal patron at all?!

If I was a Royal I'd beg for a Murderball patronage. That'd be awesome.

PCohle · 13/07/2019 17:39

So does horse racing as well mind Grin

latedecember1963 · 13/07/2019 17:43

"If I had Meghan's post baby body, I'd have probably turned up to Wimbledon in a bikini". Brilliant comment, Captain Brickbeard! 😂

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/07/2019 17:44

@frugalkitty I remember reading that some slebs used to have tummy tucks immediately after c-sections but I'm not sure if that's actually medically possible or advisable!

Pippa looks great! The best of the bunch.

Does anyone else think P and MM look like sisters? Wonder if H was tempted back in the day! They look so alike!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/07/2019 17:50

It's called the Mummy Tuck, Queen.

BertrandRussell · 13/07/2019 17:53

I hate all those extr bits on Kate’s dress- the tie and the frilly bits on the shoulders. And it looks like crimplene! Her dresses often look as if they are made of synthetic stuff.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/07/2019 17:55

I think having Pippa there was a stroke of genius. She's got bags of charm and personality by all accounts, so very easy company to be with, plus a bridge between Kate and Meghan if one were needed. Sitting her in the middle made sure there were no "two plus one" pap shots. I bet they all thoroughly enjoyed the match, and it was a very short one!

AppleKatie · 13/07/2019 17:55

A green skin, seriously. I just realised that's an outy belly button Shock

I know this was a few pages ago (just catching up!) but I think it looks more like a piercing than an outie. Did she reportedly have one as a student or did I make that up?

BertrandRussell · 13/07/2019 17:56

Like those plain coloured Emelia Wickstead things she likes. Like a 1970s mother of the bride.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/07/2019 18:00

Oh wait, did I get that wrong, was M in the middle? Well anyway, whatever they did seemed to work. I don't buy the duelling duchesses story anyway. It's very much at odds with what H&M said in the engagement interview.

Horsemad · 13/07/2019 18:00

Meghan's weight is fine. Yes she's heavier than pre pregnancy but she is still fine.

The only thing she did 'wrong' today was to not dress to flatter her figure and she had the same problem when on her overseas tour whilst pregnant - not many of her outfits then flattered her iirc.

BertrandRussell · 13/07/2019 18:01

I thought the white shirt was perfect. I was surprised when I saw what she was wearing on her bottom half.

Notmyrealname855 · 13/07/2019 18:03

They were both boring but fine outfits - Pippa has the best outfit (and the best life!)
