I don't think that look flatters her at all - makes her look very rectangular shaped, imo.

I'd look perfectly ginormous next to Kate Grin

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 13/07/2019 15:59

On my own with that one then!I still love it though,it’s a very Sarah Jessica Parker look I think.

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/07/2019 15:59

Meghan is carrying a bit more weight than she normally would but she's still far from fat. I've always thought Kate had a great figure but I don't think it comes from running after her kids!

"....... Kate's skinny because she is running around after three active young children....."
Hmm
Doesnt she have nannies etc for that ?

Labrodite · 13/07/2019 16:02

Meghan is nowhere near fat. And it’s laughable to think Kate’s figure comes from running after her kids! She has two nannies for a start Confused

Housewife2010 · 13/07/2019 16:03

Kate's figure definitely doesn't come from running around after her children or most of Mumsnet would have supermodel figures. It's a combination of genetics, a love of exercise and self discipline.

itswinetime · 13/07/2019 16:06

Queen I agree Meghan is still bigger than pre baby but she isn't fat or tubby along way from and I don't think people are commenting on her size as much as it is nice to see someone not return instantly to pre baby size! I do agree with the poster that say the shape given by a tight shirt floaty dress combo isn't the best for Meghan but I think that pre and post baby 🤷🏻‍♀️

Kate is tinny she always had been the tone she has on her arms is not from running around with three children she works hard to be that size and shape fair enough if that's where she is happy!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/07/2019 16:07

Ironically; i think Kate would look fab in the tucked in shirt and midi pleated skirt combo as she has a long torso and narrow hips. It would really work with her proportions and balance her out.

Meghan should go for silk as opposed to cotton shirts as they drape beautifully and stick to them for daywear. She looks fantastic in this outfit.

If running round after kids makes you slim then every mother in the UK would be a size 6.

PCohle · 13/07/2019 16:11

You can't really blame Kate for working hard to stay slim when Meghan get slagged off for being about 5 pounds heavier than usual 2 months after having a baby.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/07/2019 16:11

I like Pippa’s ponytail here, with the back combing on the crown.

I think of all the feminist stances Meghan has made; taking her time to lose the baby weight is the best. And she’s probably still only a size 12.
Being short waisted, and having a few extra baby pounds just shows more.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 13/07/2019 16:18

I am the same shape and size as Kate, I do 0 exercise. I have 5 children. I'm 41 and have always been slim. Genetics I assume, but lay off Kate, because some women are actually naturally slim.

SemperIdem · 13/07/2019 16:18

I don’t think taking time to lose the baby weight is necessarily a conscious choice, never mind a feminist one. It might just actually be taking a while Confused

Hilarious that someone thinks Meghan is “fat”. Stand her next to the average size 16 British woman and see if you still hold that opinion.

Thedarklady · 13/07/2019 16:19

Who is this tubby Meghan you speak of? Here's two recent photos. The average woman in the UK is at least size 16 (and there are plenty of women who are size 20 or more) and weighs at least 11 stones. Meghan is no where near that.

I don't think Meghan is making a feminist stand personally she just has different genetics priorities or whatever!

I agree that she is no where near fat but a compare and contrast of her 2 Wimbledon outfits alone show how outfits can compliment or not a body shape the jeans and a top very flattering a strong look for Meghan today's whole nothing was wrong with it as such it was boxy and didn't flatter.

Be interesting to see what she wears to the premier tomorrow I think part of Meghan's issue when dressing formally is that her most suited style isn't seen as appropriate in royal boxes ect.

CaptainBrickbeard · 13/07/2019 16:41

I don’t know how the myth of ‘running after children’ making mums skinny just keeps getting perpetuated. Firstly, my kids have never run that fast or for sustained periods of time. More often than not, I’ve walked a lot slower - at toddler pace, stopping to look at every stick on the path as we go. Or I have sat and watched at the sidelines whilst they do their activities and actually burn off some energy. Or watched them in the playground. I have two energetic boys between 5 and 8 and very little of motherhood so far has involved me running! Lack of sleep is shown to be a contributing factor in weight gain, however, and heaven knows they have given me plenty of that! I lived on caffeine and sugar in the darkest days of interrupted nights. And I probably weigh the same as Kate and Meghan put together, if not more now. Looking around the school gates, I’m definitely not the only mum who has found that having children has not turned me into a sylph like willowy supermodel type. And if I had Meghan’s post-baby body I’d have probably turned up to Wimbledon in a bikini.

I don’t like Meghan’s hair pulled back tightly; I think she looks lovely with it soft around her face.

I am a fan of big skirts and shirts but I tie my shirts at the waist rather than tucking them in which looks a bit more casual. Not that I think that would have worked on Meghan’s outfit today though.

I really feel like the green dress creates too much of a nipple illusion but I love the style.

FiveTwoFaster · 13/07/2019 16:58

Pippa is wearing £8900 earrings! Puts Kate AND Meghan’s expenditure right to shame. I like that they are all three giving the finger to the press. It was a good idea to bring Pippa along - she just smiles and looks nice and fun and the Mail has to reference that they had each other to their weddings!

ElspethFlashman · 13/07/2019 17:01

I think Meghan looks absolutely perfect at this dress size. She's stunning. And yeah, I hate the outfit but that doesnt mean anything. I'm another who's relieved she's not "snapping back". I love her new bosom and her wonderful glowy cheeks. She's never looked better.

Just burn those bloody mens shirts!!!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 13/07/2019 17:02

Whoops, I started something I didn't meant to. Apparently I used a word that isn't allowed, didn't realise that so apologies all round, it's just a descriptive term to me, not a judgey one.

I was at my slimmest when running around after three children, and I think Kate is a very involved and active parent, so I can well believe it contributes a lot to her staying slim.

I'm not going to comment on their relative sizes because (a) it's subjective and (b) my whole point was that it shouldn't be a topic of discussion.

But it does strike me that people get very excited about "defending" weight gain and less so about weight loss, that's all.

PCohle · 13/07/2019 17:12

It always seems incredibly disingenuous to me to pretend we don't live in a society that views slenderness as being more attractive.

Calling someone fat and then going "oh wow I just don't think of being fat as a bad thing" is blatantly goady and ridiculous.
