And I think we all can agree that it's much more fun if we stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women!

I agree with the PP who said Diana's sisters are probably 'stiff upper lip, heir n spare, now shag who you want but just don't get caught' types. Perhaps they are fairly sanguine about it all.

I think Camilla not going to Eugenie's wedding was a bigger indicator of who really dislikes who in the royal family. Fergie and Diana were close and apparently she has never forgiven Camilla for what happened!

Here we are, but I'm wrong, I read the info with it which says she wore a headband based on the hat. I'm still not a headband fan, not sure I'll ever be persuaded that they're a good thing to be honest.

Queen I think Fergie not forgiving Diana is the pot calling the kettle black!

Notmyrealname855 · 07/07/2019 08:55

Oh so true about Fergie and Diana! Interesting!!

I would say... 10,000%... the royals will always pit outsiders against each other. Part of why we (I) focus on Camilla and not Charles is because that’s how they’ve played the PR. The royals would always prioritise one of their own. That’s why I feel nervous for K and M, this stupid implication that they’ve fallen out - they’re totally targets to keep W and H out of the firing line. And if there were ever another separation, I don’t think the royals would be kind to them. Example of royals very extremely protecting their own... Prince Andrew

frugalkitty · 07/07/2019 08:56

Oh crap, that should be 'not forgiving Camilla' (we really need an edit button on here!!!!!!!)

Spudlet · 07/07/2019 09:01

Agreed, notmyrealname. Anyone marrying into the family seems liable to be used as a human shield / cannon fodder if push comes to shove.

I hope Harry managed to find a balance soon - I maintain that this is possibly partly due to new fatherhood bringing back the trauma of what happened to Diana. Hopefully as Archie gets bigger some of the interest will subside anyway - at least until the next big milestone, his first birthday I suppose. And I really hope any rift is patched up. Negotiating that life without the support of your family around you would just seem unbearable to me!

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 09:05

I see your point @frugalkitty but there was something very odd about Fergie and Andrew's marriage. Her biggest sin was getting caught, as Andrew didn't seem too bothered about her infidelity. Diana, however, was very much bothered by Charles and Camilla!

Had Diana been wearing a seatbelt, we'd all been having different conversations. And the photos would be very interesting - for different reasons.

Rhubarbisevil · 07/07/2019 09:15

It looks like HMQ and Prince Charles are very fond of Harry and will protect him, whatever. I think that when Charles becomes King then H&M will still be protected. It will be interesting to see how things pan out in twenty years or so once William becomes King.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 07/07/2019 09:15

The Aristocracy have always had affairs. So I doubt Diana’s sisters will be shocked. House parties were notorious for this. Guests rooms who were having affairs were placed near each other. My source is a good friend who’s dad is a grandson of second/third son of an Earl or duke- can’t remember which!

desertgirl · 07/07/2019 09:20

Camilla’s great grandmother and Charles’ great great grandfather had a long standing and very well known affair... times do seem to change more slowly in those circles than for the rest of us.

(I blame Edward VII for that one more than Alice Keppel, too. .... and pretty sure Queen Alexandra wasn’t thrilled by it)

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 09:25

Poor Alexandra was the queen of putting up and shutting up.

The family tension in that photograph is palpable. I assume that was the best of a bad lot? Blimey.
Interesting that the only 3 people who weren’t involved in the “history” - Doria, DofS and DofC are the only ones who can muster a decent smile....

megletthesecond · 07/07/2019 09:44

Can I discuss royal gardens for a moment?

We went to Hampton Court flower show yesterday. The DofC's Back to nature garden was the only show garden I actually liked. I can't be doing with outdoor structures and architectural planting anymore. Her team put together a fab little wildlife garden.

EleanorReally · 07/07/2019 10:07

Family tension palpable?
I dont see that.
you see what you want to see imo

Daisypie · 07/07/2019 10:17

I don't like the black and white photo. It is very manipulative and looks like a luxury perfume ad. I also don't like the way Harry is clutching her arm. Looks like his finders are digging in.

Daisypie · 07/07/2019 10:18

*fingers.

EleanorReally · 07/07/2019 10:21

i noticed that daisypie

EleanorReally · 07/07/2019 10:22

he is just holding her arm though

SouthWestmom · 07/07/2019 10:22

Why does Harry have those beads round his wrist? He's beginning to look like the office accountant whose been to a couple of festivals

BertrandRussell · 07/07/2019 10:27

I think the black and white one is charming.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 10:27

I agree @EleanorReally, I think there's a certain degree of overanalysing going on. I don't have an issue with a B&W photo. They don't have to be carbon copies of the Cambridges!

@megletthesecond I thought Kate's garden had moved to Wisley?

OP posts:
AdaColeman · 07/07/2019 10:27

Those beads on his wrist show what a royal rebel Harry is, like, cool 'n down with the kidz, innit! Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 10:34

Harry's been wearing bracelets for years, they pre-date Meghan.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 07/07/2019 10:38

Fergie & Andrew seem to have a good friendship though whatever you think of them as individuals & are great divorce role models, putting their dcs before acrimony.
