And I think we all can agree that it's much more fun if we stick to critiquing the clothes rather than the women!

CurlyWurlyTwirly thank you for the photos of the Cambridge christenings. Great style in them.
Probably reading too much into it but Harry's not smiling in the photo at Louis's christening.

beanaseireann · 07/07/2019 07:58

I've just noticed he wasn't photographed at Charlotte's christening. He may have been abroad ?

Daisypie · 07/07/2019 08:04

Archie looks very like Meghan's dad. Awkward.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 08:08

Hah he does a bit @Daisypie. But tbh most babies look like fat old men at the start!

The Spencer ladies are better women than me for agreeing to be in the same photo as Camilla. They must be very fond of H&M.

desertgirl · 07/07/2019 08:21

Mycat, it isn’t Camilla who cheated on Diana. I am sure this (widely held) tendency to blame the other woman, who isn’t part of the marriage in question, for an affair arises out of internalized misogyny; it’s depressing.

(possibly different story if it was APB’s sisters, though who ever knows what is going on in someone else’s marriage?)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 07/07/2019 08:28

Of course it was Charles who cheated, but let's face it, Camilla was complicit.

desertgirl · 07/07/2019 08:30

But you don’t mention them being in the same room as Charles..... yet he was the one with the (by far) greater share of the culpability.

beanaseireann · 07/07/2019 08:30

Personally I think it's basic decency to not have an affair with a still married man.
If he is separated or divorced that's fine.

Notmyrealname855 · 07/07/2019 08:31

Think part of the problem with the photo looking tense is the sheer lack of people - W&K just naturally had a lot more they could invite, the Queen seems to love babies, everyone was beaming.

This pic does look a bit murder mystery - who begrudges who (D’s sisters and Camilla; the brothers between themselves). It’s a very divided family, when you’ve already taxied in two women who don’t look happy there, and you already have tensions. Basically... not a success of a family.

Feels like H’s having a tantrum with the press. Totally get why. But in making announcements about non-announcements, completely agree that he’s making more drama and confusion... just a mess of it. A happy time now seems Hmm for lots of people. And it’s not in Archie’s best interests - I’d be trusting MM, not H, to handle this. It’s like H is using A as a pawn, whether he realises it or not.

To be doubly unkind (sorry!) I don’t love those b&w photos, all “unstaged, spontaneous emotions”. They only appeal to a smaller audience, when H and MM need to be a bit more boring and appeal to as many as possible at this point.

Issue with all this is they’re undoubtedly losing support from fans. In our Co-Op a joyous and lovely cashier had dressed up for the wedding, celebrated the tour, celebrated the pregnancy... now she says she can’t be arsed. She had celebrated the wedding that eve with a bunch of women in our area, totally loving the love story and the fact we’re finally getting a mixed race person in that pretty awful family. She said none of those women give a toss now, she thinks H is being very rude. Dealing with the press seems to be more his focus than just communicating with the public.

Smokeonthewater · 07/07/2019 08:32

@desertgirl
Do you actually know the facts about the affair? Charles and Camilla were having an affair virtually the whole way through the marriage! Camilla knee how upset Diana was by it because Diana confronted her at one point. Any woman with any decency would have walked away.
I think she’s been a good wife to Charles and the boys seem to accept her , so things have moved on. However she made Diana’s life a misery.

desertgirl · 07/07/2019 08:34

beanaseireann what I don’t get is why that is worse than the married man, who is the one who made the promises that are being broken, having the affair. I think it’s far worse to cheat on your spouse than to have an affair with a married person, which doesn’t mean I am suggesting that the latter is to be recommended.

But it is always the woman who cops the flack.

desertgirl · 07/07/2019 08:36

The facts are irrelevant. Charles chested. He is more culpable than Camilla. He had made solemn promises, in church, to Diana. Camilla hadn’t. So sure, she wasn’t an angel - but he was worse.

desertgirl · 07/07/2019 08:36

Cheated not chested.

Paradyning · 07/07/2019 08:37

I reckon the sisters are old school - as in - heir and spare in place, what did you expect your husband to be doing?!

Interesting to see how the Epstein story develops...

AppleKatie · 07/07/2019 08:38

I agree but it’s also pretty basic decency not to cheat on your wife! I’ve never understood why she gets a harder time than him. Except well misogyny.

hopeishere · 07/07/2019 08:40

I think the rack Kate and Camilla are perched on those spindly chairs makes the composition of the photo look awkward.

EleanorReally · 07/07/2019 08:40

Plenty of water under the bridge - plus they are doing it for their Queen and country!

Smokeonthewater · 07/07/2019 08:42

Of course Charles was worse ! But the pair of them behaved disgracefully.
The contrast between the Cambridge christening photos and the Sussex ones is massive. A whole different dynamic. If the Cambridge’s did only stay an hour that’s pretty telling. What on earth is going on between those brothers?

FiveTwoFaster · 07/07/2019 08:44

Diana had about five or six affairs herself mind you!

They’re all being grown ups for Harry who they all love and they probably get on with each other quite well - it’s pointless harbouring grudges for 30 years that aren’t even your own.

I love the colours Kate’s wearing. And wish we could have seen a bit more of Meghan. She must have told Harry what to wear?!

frugalkitty · 07/07/2019 08:44

I'm sure I saw a pic on IG yesterday that showed Kate's hat, not headband.....I'll see if I can find it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 08:44

If their PRs have any sense they'll get a joint Duchess appearance at the Wimbledon ladies' final next weekend. But then again, that's a lot of pressure on them as everyone will be looking for signs that all is not well.

beanaseireann · 07/07/2019 08:45

Desertgirl
I absolutely agree re Charles being culpable as he was married to Diana.
I don't like Charles. Or Camilla.
All the good PR / spin in the world won't change my mind.

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/07/2019 08:47

I think the way they behaved was disgraceful but it's been 20 years and is probably water under the bridge now.

Had Diana lived, she and Charles would've probably settled into amicability by now. There were signs of that already happening by the time she died.

I doubt he'd have married Camilla though!

Smokeonthewater · 07/07/2019 08:48

Diana only had affairs once it was clear Charles was done with her.
