Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

(Code not valid for use on the Rain Bomber, Waterproof City Walker or Waterproof Winter Parka. Code expires 18 August 2019.)

Protected Species haven’t paid for this thread, but they are supplying the prize.

Mumsnet carries some affiliate marketing links, so if you buy something through our posts, we may get a small share of the sale (more details here).

Winter parka, I haven't found the perfect winter coat and it looks this could be it! Warm, waterproof and stylish, what else do you need!

Miisukka1976 · 02/07/2019 23:31

I'd love the Waterproof Commuter coat - burnt horizon sixe UK12-14. What a beautiful coat with a stunning colour.

BikeRunSki · 02/07/2019 23:38

Waterproof Parka 16-18 in either shade of grey. Love the style! I work in Leeds, where it rains a lot! I’d like to arrive at work dry, and not looking like I am about to go and climb a mountain

russams · 02/07/2019 23:52

Waterproof Parka for me, stylish and practical.

SquatBetty · 03/07/2019 06:04

Would love the waterproof winter parka (if it comes back in stock) in a size 14. It would go with everything my wardrobe and I'm a big fan of its clean, fluid, paired down design. Tres chic!

arktis · 03/07/2019 06:04

Waterproof Commuter is super stylish, and would work for work and play:-)

Yelloyello · 03/07/2019 06:06

I’d like the waterproof Parker in black 10-12, I’m moving imminently to a country where I’ll be cycling every day and where the weather is also often rainy, so it would be really useful! Plus it’s my birthday next week 🥳

AntennaReborn · 03/07/2019 06:13

The waterproof commuter in black would be perfect for me!
I wear smart business dress to work, but I have a long commute and have to walk part of the way. Having a coat keeping me dry and comfortable while still looking smart would be a real plus!

Chartreuser · 03/07/2019 06:14

The Waterproof Parka in Storm Grey. When I rule the World umbrellas will be banned, and thus hoods a necessity (and people will have evolved indicators so they can't suddenly turn in front of you in supermarkets, busy pavements etc but that's a different thread . . .). The colour means when my children want me for the nth time for no real reason I can stand outside and magically blend into this season's grey and torrid summer sky thus achieving a blessed five minutes peace.

Plus it would be a coat that I haven't actually stolen borrowed from 14yo DS. And I don't think he'd dare borrow from me.

MilkLady02 · 03/07/2019 06:24

I love the length and cut of the waterproof commuter. It’s so difficult to find a coat that’s practical as well as stylish but this looks like it would be both. (So many waterproof coats don’t have hoods!) I really like the deep burgundy colour too, I’ve not seen a waterproof coat in this colour.

ShouldHaveListenedInBiology · 03/07/2019 06:35

They are all so nice! I think my favourite is the Waterproof Commuter in Dark Olive Green, size 12-14.

I love the Winter Parka too, so hopefully they’ll bring it back for this A/W.

StoneofDestiny · 03/07/2019 06:37

The Waterproof Mac is my choice In Sandstone Fawn. Waterproof because it rains rather a lot in the UK and it would be easy to pack for travel, and Sandstone Fawn to bring a touch of brightness into a dull wet day.

smeerf · 03/07/2019 06:41

I'm lusting after the Mac in Storm Grey (size 10-12) - I bought my mum the Commuter in Cobblestone Grey for her 60th and I keep find any excuse to swish around in it! She keeps walking in on me wearing it and staring in the mirror, and it's getting a bit awkward now! It would be perfect to cycle to work in - I have this mint green Dutch bike and it would just look spot on.

wishingchair1 · 03/07/2019 06:43

The waterproof city walket in atmosphere white. Looks lovely and crisp.

driggle · 03/07/2019 06:47

I'd go for the Waterproof Parka in Sandstone Fawn in a 10-12. I've been in need of something just like that for the school run.

visitorthedog · 03/07/2019 06:51

I’d choose the Waterproof Parka in Cityscape Blue. I love the cool toned colour combined with the minimalist, but enough detail to be interesting, design.

In my head I’d look like a cool mum striding through the rain, vs drowned maternal rat on the school run, doing an Andi McDowell in Four Weddings impression (‘is it raining? I hadn’t noticed’) 😀

Anyway, I’d love it!

tomatoplantproject · 03/07/2019 06:54

Waterproof commuter in dark olive green to keep me stylish and dry on my commute. Please.

ThanosSavedMe · 03/07/2019 06:57

Ooh not seen these before. Look lovely.

I’d go for the commuter in navy or olive green. I’d like to say 12/14 but think I’d better say 16/18. Any chance of a 14/16!

OneTownsVeryLikeAnother · 03/07/2019 07:00

Waterproof parka, dark olive green 16-18
It looks a great length to keep most of the body dry. I hate carrying umbrellas so prefer longer length waterproofs, and I love the neck design.
The dark olive green seems really versatile, I think it would be a year-round colour, and would look great with jeans.

ZazieTheCat · 03/07/2019 07:02

Waterproof Parka in black (12-14). Roomy enough to fit a few cosy layers under, versatile enough to take me between town and country, watertight enough to take me through the four seasons-in-one-day temperamental Scottish weather and bonnie enough to go with most of my clothes!

ShowerOfShite · 03/07/2019 07:03

I'd go for the Winter parka. Longer length to keep my backside warm Smile

DonPablo · 03/07/2019 07:05

Waaaaah! No plus sizes! Because that water proof bomber looks like just what I need for my commute when it's raining!

What a great competition... But don't pick me, because none of them will fit! Sad

Sam0228 · 03/07/2019 07:05

The winter waterproof parka - looks a great length & perfect for winter days 👌

LoveVelo · 03/07/2019 07:13

Waterproof commuter in cobblestone grey (10/12). Manages to look stylish whilst still practical. Would be a great colour for the rain bomber as well.

kagglen · 03/07/2019 07:36

How can I have not known about this brand before. I would choose the Waterproof winter parka. It would be so useful in the cold wet winter months.
