Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

Waterproof Mac in night sky navy, 6-8. It looks like a grey coat for wearing to the office on rainy days

fascinated · 05/07/2019 21:08

The Waterproof Commuter in True Black. Size 14.

Please ! ;-)

Givemecoffeeplease · 06/07/2019 06:32

The waterproof Mac because it has a hood! Genius addition to a stylish coat. Anyway what’s the point of waterproof if your hair gets wet? Why do no other Mac makers realise this?!?! Also impressed by pockets for storage of kids conkers, snotty tissues and raisins. Colour - storm dark grey, might as well dress for the weather. Size - 14-16. X

Bloatstoat · 06/07/2019 06:35

I love the look of the Mac in storm grey - classic and stylish but very practical being completely waterproof with a lovely hood - just the work of thing I need out and about with the buggy.

LivingTrigonometryMnemonic · 06/07/2019 06:46

I would choose the waterproof Mac in black, size 12-14. The coat is appealing on lots of levels. Obviously it has great technical functionality in terms of keeping you dry and warm, and also careful attention to detail, such as the good collar shape and deep zip pockets. But it also looks like a coat you could throw on to do the school run when you realise you have to immediately emerge from the drudgery-carnage of housework/ working from home- and suddenly and spontaneously look put together/ competent. I think the black gives an added versatility to the overall look.

FuzzyPuffling · 06/07/2019 07:01

I'd choose the winter parka in 16. I'm outside a lot!

OccasionalNachos · 06/07/2019 07:09

Has to be the Commuter - looks perfect for my walk/train/walk every day, whatever the weather!

Zyxwvu · 06/07/2019 07:10

I’d love the Waterproof Winter Parka: perfect for Saturday mornings watching the under-9s play football!

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/07/2019 07:24

Waterproof Mac, storm grey size 10-12.
I discovered my current Mac is no longer waterproof when I was doing my 2.5 walking commute to work in the rain.
This would be perfect, thank you

redbook · 06/07/2019 07:28

I like the waterproof commuter. I'm not sure which colour. I think the burnt horizon red, but as you can order swatches, I might sample the dark olive green and deep burgundy too.

I've never heard of this brand before. The coats look practical and a good range of colours.

Thesuzle · 06/07/2019 07:33

Any one of them in any colour IF they don’t bunch and grab your trousers and try to disappear into your crotch !! Like my Seasalt rain mac does. Bloody thing. (Size 18-20) pls don’t know how they fit

Floralhousecoat · 06/07/2019 07:37

I adore the waterproof mac, and the colour storm dark grey looks as good as it sounds - mysterious and sexy!! I'll be praying for rainy days with this little baby to show off.

monkeysox · 06/07/2019 08:10

I like the waterproof commuter. I love the design and it's a bonus it is waterproof too. ❤️ (size 12-14 please, 😊)

RadishesAndLentils · 06/07/2019 08:12

Waterproof Mac in true black in size 16-18.

Would be nice if the styles ran to bigger sizes.

ifigoup · 06/07/2019 08:13

Definitely the waterproof winter parka (which I think comes in black, black or black!)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/07/2019 08:14

I'd go for the commuter in red - anything to brighten up the journey to work!

Vulpine · 06/07/2019 08:28

The water proof parker in olive green. Perfect for cycling to work in all weathers.

BlueCookieMonster · 06/07/2019 08:59

The waterproof mac in burnt horizon red. I live next to the coast, waterproof coats are a necessity round here.

HildaWazzo · 06/07/2019 09:18

I’d like the Waterproof Parka in Dark Olive Green, size 12-14, please. I like the parka style and this version looks modern and lightweight.

bairnk · 06/07/2019 09:26

Soo hard to choose one, my friend has the waterproof city walker in white which is gorgeous on but I think if I could just choose one it would have to be the waterproof commuter in cobblestone grey or olive as I am about to go on maternity leave and think the longer length would be better suited to being out with the pram keeping dry!!

BristolMum96 · 06/07/2019 09:28

Definitely waterproof winter parka (black size 10!). Yet to find a warm and practical, yet stylish, coat for winter

MeakTiger · 06/07/2019 09:35

The Waterproof Commuter in olive green.

I really like the length of this and combining the walk both ends of my train journey have an hours walk each day as part of my commute along the coast where it’s often impossible to use an umbrella. Something a bit longer is ideal and I like the neckline.

Helen18 · 06/07/2019 09:41

Waterproof Parka in a dark olive green ( size 16) would be perfect for taking my Scout Troop out for hikes in all weather's.

Lottie2shoes · 06/07/2019 09:46

Waterproof commuter in burnt horizon red or black. In fact I'm liking all the colours. In size 10/12

DowntonCrabby · 06/07/2019 09:53

The waterproof Mac in storm dark grey would be perfect for the school run and smart enough for work.
It would cope with the Scottish showers of the Autumn months and the colour would bring cheer to dull days.
