Afternoon everyone,

Protected Species has some pretty loyal fans here on Mumsnet (if you don't believe us, check out this thread from last year), and now they're giving one lucky Mumsnetter the chance to win one of their practical but chic coats.

To enter, we asked Mumsnetters to let us know which jacket on the Protected Species site they'd choose if they were to win and why.

Thanks to everyone who entered - this competition is now closed.

If you missed out this time, never fear - Protected Species are giving Mumsnetters an exclusive discount of 40% off the Waterproof Mac, Waterproof Parka, or Waterproof Commuter. Just enter the code MUMSNET40 at checkout to redeem your discount. Enjoy Grin

Another one plumping for the waterproof parka in olive green. It's really stylish.

movinonup · 03/07/2019 20:18

Posted too quickly...The main reason I would love this coat is the length. I work from home and like to be comfortable so leggings are the order of the day, This jacket would be an acceptable length to wear over leggings in my opinion, Team with some lovely ankle boots or cool trainers and I'd feel confident going out.

QueenofLouisiana · 03/07/2019 20:26

I’d love the commuter in cobblestone grey. My smart coats aren’t waterproof and this looks like it would combine both needs marvellously!

Gorillaandme · 03/07/2019 20:30

Waterproof commuter in olive green 10/12 is lovely.

PinPon · 03/07/2019 20:42

I’d love a Waterproof Commuter in Cobblestone Grey size 10/12. It would be perfect for my commute to work as well as keeping me snug and dry on the weekends when running errands in the rain.

Badabingbadabum · 03/07/2019 21:05

The Waterproof Commuter in cobblestone grey, a 10-12 I think. Thanks to dh I now have a great waterproof and warm winter coat. I have a very 'practical' waterproof coat but as I don't drive, I often get rained on! The longer length of the commuter looks ideal.

These are beautiful coats and any one of them would be lovely, but my choice would be the Waterproof mac in size 10-12 in either Night Sky Navy or Burnt Horizon Red. If I were lucky enough to win, would allow me to look stylish and sorted in the rain for the first time ever!

sunrain · 03/07/2019 21:40

Love the waterproof mac in deep burgandy size 12. Great classic coat but love the colour being a bit more unusual and will go with lots of things

Bloody hell they are expensive! I'd pick the waterproof commuter in burgundy or olive green as it looks to be the most versatile. Gorgeous coats but depressingly out of my budget! Size 16-18 because I'm a porko. #nobodywillusethisquote

mummyeme · 03/07/2019 21:49

The waterproof parka in dark green would be my choice too. A perfect colour to compliment my wardrobe, looks a lovely shape and I know I'll need the roomy hood. Nice to have something stylish and functional.

Tigger83 · 03/07/2019 21:50

I'd love the waterproof Mac in either burnt red/grey or the fawn colour I can't decide!! I'm a size 10-12!!

Mindfulofmuddle · 03/07/2019 21:51

The Waterproof Winter Parka for me - hands down.
I would love this jacket. I feel the cold terribly, but find most winter coats that have a high warmth rating just too bulky, heavy and uncomfortable to wear.
I have been on the lookout for the perfect waterproof, warm winter coat for so long, and tried so many, but none of them have been quite right.
This one looks spot on!

BernardoTeashop · 03/07/2019 21:56

I would love the Waterproof Commuter. Would make me look really smart commuting to work rather than looking like I’ve been pulled through a hedge backwards 🤣

Julietee · 03/07/2019 21:58

The waterproof Mac in burgundy.

FromSussexWithLove · 03/07/2019 21:59

It would have to be the waterproof parka in cobblestone grey for me...
It's all about that neckline!

I live in coats and am relentlessly mocked and scolded about it at work, mostly because what I generally opt for is a vibrant patchwork snowboarding jacket Elma the elephant style. This would keep me and my cold neck warm but stop the far younger and less stylistically challenged of my colleagues constantly laughing at me!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 03/07/2019 22:00

Without a doubt the Waterproof parka.... looks like it would be great to walk the dogs in, look good with wellies and jeans and keep my big fat arse warm too - love the longer length.

JangoInTheFamilyWay · 03/07/2019 22:00

Waterproof mac in storm dark grey 12-14. It's so incredibly chic but actually practical, an almost unheard of combination!

NationMcKinley · 03/07/2019 22:03

Wow. They are bloody lovely aren’t they? Difficult decision: I like the commuter one best, in true black. It would definitely up my game on the school run! Buttock coverage is so important yet so overlooked by a lot of coat designers. No one likes a soggy arse, do they Wink

MrsWidgerysLodger · 03/07/2019 22:06

I keep looking at these every so often and lusting desperately after one. For me it would have to be the waterproof Mac. Colour is a tough one but I would opt for sandstone fawn (navy is a close second). So nice to find a hooded Mac which is also stylish!

TheSquatLobster · 03/07/2019 22:14

I just love the Waterproof Commuter. Such a stylish cut, it would take me to city meetings during the week and to pub lunches at the weekend. Never out of place and always dry and cosy! And the colour? Spoilt for choice but, if I can't have one of each, I'd be thrilled with the burnt horizon. Wearing it would make me smile on the greyest of days.

Anj123 · 03/07/2019 22:27

I’d choose the waterproof commuter because it looks so versatile, smart enough for work but would also look good with casual wear. Very practical! 😃

sheshootssheimplores · 03/07/2019 22:34

Waterproof parka in Cityscape blue. I spend far too long standing in the playground with the wind and rain whipping down. All my coats are unsuitable so it would be wonderful to actually own something waterproof!

Mammatron · 03/07/2019 22:44

The waterproof Mac. I need a smart waterproof for rainy work days and I love how the storm shield sits at the back - most storm shields sit higher on the back which can be very unflattering but the PS one gives added definition to the waist

Dontbestupidagain · 03/07/2019 23:14

The waterproof parka in black size 10-12. I'd already sent the link to my husband for my Christmas list. I ♥️ it.

goose1964 · 04/07/2019 00:10

I'd love the waterproof winter parka. My daughter is moving up to Scotland so I'll need a warm winter coat and this is an answer to anything the Scottish winter can throw at it
