Previous thread

Now that the Orange One has gone, it's almost time for a visit from the Oranje One! Yes, Queen Max will be attending next Monday's Garter ceremony. It'll be a triplicate fashion face-off between her, Letizia and Kate - who will emerge victorious?

She doesn't need to dtd with Albert to gain children!

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/06/2019 22:17

I'm not entirely convinced she did for the twins! I mean, I don't think they're not his but I wouldn't be surprised if it was all done without DTD.

When rich and famous people have twins it always makes IVF more likely, dontcha think?

MotherofPearl · 16/06/2019 22:21

Very true. I just didn't imagine she'd risk it. There really seems to be no chemistry between them at all, and she looks miserable whenever she's near him.

Mrsmadevans · 16/06/2019 22:29

Lovely picture of Fergie's brother Andrew's wedding I don't know any details though

Fergie has a few younger half-siblings doesn't she? I think the dirty Major's second wife was several years his junior.

I live near Belvoir Castle (home of the Manners girls) and they have quite the reputation. Their younger brother (the Heir) ran into the back of someone I know. She asked him for his car insurance details and he said “I’m the Marquis of Granby” to which she replied “No you’re not. That’s a pub.” She still doesn’t believe that he’s called that.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/06/2019 22:48

Belvoir pronounced Beaver, of course!

Order of the Garter ceremony tomorrow , taken this from the Express.
'Kate to attend Order of the Garter with Queen Letizia and Queen Maxima
KATE, the Duchess of Cambridge, will reunite with Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands at this year’s Order of the Garter ceremony taking place at Windsor Castle.' So we should have a good day tomorrow Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 16/06/2019 23:28

Rhubarb Grin
Apparently Marquis of Granby is popular pub name.
We always used to have our works Christmas dinner in one.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 17/06/2019 00:28

Can anyone explain the history of Charlene and Albert, I don’t know much about them apart from it was rumoured she ran off before her wedding day and has been living in misery ever since apparently. Why on earth did she marry him if she was so unhappy? and what I find even stranger is why did he want to marry her knowing she allegedly did not want to marry him? It all seems really bizarre.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 17/06/2019 00:31

I do realise no one can answer my questions unless they are a Grimaldi! Just find it all very odd, more so than Charles and Diana, at least Diana was a teenager and was naively hopeful of a happy marriage despite her doubts, so can understand why she went through with it.

spellingtest · 17/06/2019 06:15

Ascot this week too. Prettt dresses In abundance I hope

IHeartArya · 17/06/2019 06:45

We went to Belvoir Castle last summer. Lots of family photos everywhere!

Rhubarbisevil · 17/06/2019 06:49

family photos everywhere. - probably of the girls with a fag in their mouth Grin

A Manners ancestor was lost at sea so the family set up a chain of pubs called The Marquis of Granby to provide work for destitute working sailors. True story.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 17/06/2019 07:02

Just read that the Queen won't be attending the christening due to prior engagements. Seems odd not to work it around her diary.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 17/06/2019 07:14

She didn't attend Louis' either. Maybe she's decided to step back from a few family events.

hopeishere · 17/06/2019 07:29

The Queen probably has loads of engagements booked in way in advance so getting a date must be tricky.

Wonder if Kate or Wills will be a godparent. Massive snub if they're not.

QueenOfTheAndals · 17/06/2019 07:39

Why would it be such a snub @hopeishere? Harry isn't godparent to any of the Cambridge children.

Why on earth did she marry him if she was so unhappy?

He's worth around $4 billion for starters. Charlene hung around Monaco for years waiting for him to marry her. I don't think she looks sad at all, she clearly adores being a Princess and all the attention and privilege it brings.

I wonder if that's the life Meghan was anticipating?

and what I find even stranger is why did he want to marry her knowing she allegedly did not want to marry him

He was well into middle age and needed a legitimate heir or two. He already has at least two kids from flings.

frugalkitty · 17/06/2019 07:53

Yes, Albert needed a legitimate heir because without one Monaco reverts to French control. I watched the wedding and the poor girl cried loads, and not happy tears by the look of things.

hopeishere · 17/06/2019 08:28

I stand corrected @QueenOfTheAndals!! I though he was.

UrsulaPandress · 17/06/2019 08:59

What on earth is Eleanor Tomlinson wearing on her feet? Anyone old enough to remember patent leather shoes worn with matching long socks to look like boots? Thought it was those for a moment.

But the peep toe! Just why?

JuneSpencer100 · 17/06/2019 09:11

Yes, Albert needed a legitimate heir because without one Monaco reverts to French control

Wasn't that changed some time ago so that Caroline and her kids could take over (or whatever the legal term is!)
