Previous thread

What neon shade will HM wear? Will the DoE attend? Will Kate have a new coat dress? Will Meghan make an appearance? And which of us will be able to identify every random Windsor on the balcony?

All will be revealed tomorrow...

Also, who knew there was more than one way to park your divider at the checkout?? I shall be watching from now!

Look at that smile on the Irish presidents face! No matter what the weather, Max seems to be a ray of sunshine. Even the Duke of Kent was grinning from ear to ear when she visited here last year, and he always comes across as a rather sombre man.

To be fair, he's usually smiling like that. Usually has his two big Bernese mountain dogs with him too.

StCharlotte · 12/06/2019 16:59

Oh bless Michael D!

I can't see him without thinking of this (didn't he teach one of them geography?)

Has Max met the current pope? I imagine they'd charm the pants off each other (not literally of course, that would never do!).

AnneEyhtMeyer · 12/06/2019 17:08

If I were going to be photographed by the world's press at the same event every year I'd be buying a new coat. I have multiple black and navy coats and people couldn't give a toss about me so I can totally understand why she buys a new green coat every year.

AdaColeman · 12/06/2019 17:09

Sabina Coyne (Mrs Higgins) has clearly decided that she isn't going to be upstaged by anyone, not even Max! Grin

SlipperOrchid · 12/06/2019 17:17

Pink, blue, purple and orange are favourites of Mrs Higgins 😀. Maybe she took a leaf out of the Queen’s book 😀

The proportions of Kate’s first khaki jacket - the fjallrven one- make her look faintly ridiculous I think, it’s the skinny legs and primly buttoned up jacket. I wear skinny jeans a lot and have a similar raincoat that hits at the same place on the hip and always think I look a bit stupid, and ... staid. The second barber one is a more relaxed fit that makes her look like someone who actually might need a coat to go outside instead of being driven everywhere. Don’t know why she would take two jackets on that day out though, makes her seem like a right townie.

Also I like Kate and her work looks but she is sooooo prim these days I’m waiting for another cheeky marylin skirt moment or something

IHeartArya · 12/06/2019 17:49

William in today’s & yesterday’s pictures is beaming. Difference to when the Trumps visited methinks. Or maybe it’s the relief they’ve gone.

Thedarklady · 12/06/2019 17:52

It's definitely two different sets of boots - the See by Chloe ones and some by Berghaus apparently.

I also remember that she wore two different paris of red suede court shoes heels (Gianvito Rossi and Russel & Bromley) on the Canada trip.

She also has multiple pairs of the same heels too - they have immaculate new soles when worn months or years apart.

escapade1234 · 12/06/2019 18:01

What would actually happen if Kate (or any royal, male or female!) turned up to one of these events wearing, say, a £40 waterproof jacket from Mountain Warehouse? I say that because I recently bought my son a ski jacket from there for £40 and was amazed by the quality.

I mean, does Kate have to wear a £400 jacket in Cumbria because she’s a princess? Is that the only reason? What would be said if she wore a serviceable cheapo one? Anything?

She always look gorgeous, no denying, she’s the most consistently best-dressed royal I can think of. But must it always be so lavish and expensive? Is it to boost brands she does it? Wouldn’t she like to boost M&S? They could do with the help.

Just wondered. Maybe she thinks it’s what people expect. Maybe she just loves splashing the cash.

TyraAllen · 12/06/2019 18:01

Slipper of course there is also the possibility that the photos were touched up to remove creases?

Maybe the two jackets thing is as simple as one is warmer than the other. She probably took both in case it chucked it down with rain, too.

escapade1234 · 12/06/2019 18:03

My only gripe would be those black skinnies. They don’t seem very decent to me, far too tight. She looks like a cat burglar.

escapade1234 · 12/06/2019 18:04

She does have sensational legs, I’ll admit, but must she show us just how sensational at all times????

frugalkitty · 12/06/2019 18:06

Ok, someone needs to explain MN divider etiquette to me please......vertical? Diagonal? Eh???? Confused

queenofarles · 12/06/2019 18:12

I mean, does Kate have to wear a £400 jacket in Cumbria because she’s a princess? Is that the only reason? What would be said if she wore a serviceable cheapo one? Anything? so should dress in cheap clothes because she is visiting Farmers and country folks Confused.
She looked great, her hair was really pretty and her clothes were perfect.
Splashing out even something £40 for just one visit to me is pointless, also isn’t Barbour a British brand too?

escapade1234 · 12/06/2019 18:14

Nope, nothing at all to do “farmers and country folk” !! My point is purely about the cost of everything.

escapade1234 · 12/06/2019 18:16

They turn up to small community charities dressed in clothes that could fund said charity for a month. It’s hypocrisy.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/06/2019 18:17

Kate's done her bit for the High Street In the past. We've seen her in everything from Reiss to Top Shop. I would imagine she has to rely quite heavily on shoppers and so she'll only see what they bring in. She can't exactly pop into TK Maxx for a rummage through the bargains!

Wildorchidz · 12/06/2019 18:19

They turn up to small community charities dressed in clothes that could fund said charity for a month. It’s hypocrisy.

I think the donations that accrue to those charities following a royal visit must be huge - way more than £400.

SlipperOrchid · 12/06/2019 18:20

Quuenofarles You come across as her number one fan which is all very well but it is ok for others to be more objective.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 12/06/2019 18:27

Frugal & Queen there was a thread a few years ago about how you place your shopping divider on the checkout conveyor belt. I can't remember whether it was because someone had seen the shopper in front of them place the divider vertically like this
|

Cake
Gin
Bear

rather than the usual

Cake
Gin
Bear

or whether it was suggested that we should start placing our dividers vertically or even diagonally as a secret MNet sign. (whilst also wearing the MNet scarf)

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/06/2019 18:38

Wait - the MN scarf?

frugalkitty · 12/06/2019 18:39

Thanks Tracy I missed that debate! I like the idea of a secret MN code though, like the masons handshaking but more subtle.

queenofarles · 12/06/2019 18:39

Grin at me being her fan slipper ,em no.
