What neon shade will HM wear? Will the DoE attend? Will Kate have a new coat dress? Will Meghan make an appearance? And which of us will be able to identify every random Windsor on the balcony?

All will be revealed tomorrow...

Kedgeree · 12/06/2019 08:32

For those asking whether the royals travelled by train to the Lakes, they didn't, they came in the big burgundy helicopter. Someone on my FB has posted a pic of herself and her DS standing next to it. Sorry if that's already been answered.

Laiste · 12/06/2019 08:32

Oh You-jin-ee.

Good job i don't find i have to say it Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/06/2019 08:34

I knew how she pronounced Eugenie but I always thought it was Helena with the stress on the first syllable rather than the second. I'm pretty sure that's how Bonham Carter pronounces it and she's vair posh.

Fergie said to get the correct pronunciation and emphasis think "Use Your Knee".

Charlotte is equal emphasis on both syllables in my world.

I also say JOO-bilee and JOO-liet not Joo-bi-LEE and Julie-ETTE.

SlipperOrchid · 12/06/2019 09:05

In Ireland Charlotte is a very difficult name to pronounce. We tend to say Sharlet! When people think they are pronouncing it correctly, they have to adjust their mouths and it comes out very unnaturally and quite contorted. Irish people trying to sound posh is never a good effect. 😀 It is still quite a popular name but I have yet to hear it being pronounced in the ‘royal’ way even by the parents of the Charlotte’s I know! It is a name best avoided!

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/06/2019 09:12

I've heard William speak about his children, pretty sure he didn't say Char-LOT.

When she was born we had experts on the telly confidently telling us it was pronounced U-jayne-ie with a soft J. I remember because it was all anyone was talking about. We’d only just got over Beatrice and how to pronounce that!

Laiste · 12/06/2019 09:28

Yes. Here too. shar-lot. Equal. Like robot. Not sha'LOT.

Ooh it's hard writing pronunciations Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/06/2019 09:31

I'm glad there aren't too many Wilhelminas around, that one had me foxed for years!

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 12/06/2019 09:35

I don't trust the BBC for pronunciations. For a while they decided Coventry would be pronounced Cuvventry. This was news to its residents. Sanity was restored before long, about the time they stopped mucking around with CON-troversy/con-TROV-ersy.

DevonUkelele · 12/06/2019 09:41

Me too, @Bertrand ... now I find both pretty, in an old-fashioned kind of way. How times (and tastes) change!

Char-lot seems weird to me. I'm more Char-lit. Oops ... clearly common Grin

Laiste · 12/06/2019 09:43

Cholmondeley pronounced Chumley makes me smile.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/06/2019 09:45

And the less said about Featherstonehaugh (Fanshaw) the better!

I agree with previous posters - if William had an affair, Kate has completely missed her calling and should be in hollywood. She has looked extremely happy and glowing since Louis was born and I just don't think that can be faked. I also think the reason the UK press hasn't printed it is because they can't find a single source who will actually confirm it and they've been warned that without proper sources the full weight of the law will come down on them. And let's not forget that the Mail and Express etc will take pretty much ANYTHING as a source....

pinkladyapples · 12/06/2019 10:00

Kate looked great yesterday. Predictable but great. Love her Chloe boots and her skinny jeans, something I would wear every day.

CPV and Sofia look amazing!

Leti in Massimo Dutti

I don’t know Blung but the falling out with Rose (which has been widely reported), Rose not wearing her wedding ring and there is usually no smoke without fire. I’m old and remember the affair rumours between the generations and it was all brushed off by everyone.. the other thing is affairs are accepted in the RF as long as they are discreet. I think Kate like many mothers would put it behind her for the sake of her children and her own family life. But.... I hope it is untrue.

EarClipper · 12/06/2019 10:26

The British press are cautious of printing unflattering stories about the RF. I don't think that's much of an indication as to whether something is true or not. They need to keep on their good side. They've kept schtum on Andrew's dodgy friendships and the sordid rumours that surround him.

MoonstoneMagic · 12/06/2019 10:40

I say Char Lot . I don’t think it’s posh.

escapade1234 · 12/06/2019 10:41

But where did the rumour come from? Charles and Diana was much more believable once the rumours were our because they seemed so miserable in each other’s company. Kate and William look happy together.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 12/06/2019 10:42

No, all it is is Chardonnay shortened.

PinkieTuscadero · 12/06/2019 10:46

Yes when I say Charlotte it rhymes with scarlet. I worked with a very elegant French Charlotte and she said my pronunciation of her name was the loveliest she’d heard. So that’s good enough for me Grin

I’d feel like a twit trying to make an approximation of a posh English pronunciation of the name.

QueenOfTheAndals · 12/06/2019 11:11

I've just had a semi-royal encounter! In a queue at the checkout and realised the woman in front of me was HM!

Well, almost. It was Claire Foy...
