Previous thread

What neon shade will HM wear? Will the DoE attend? Will Kate have a new coat dress? Will Meghan make an appearance? And which of us will be able to identify every random Windsor on the balcony?

All will be revealed tomorrow...

@EarClipper googled Ed Mili .... and 'bacon sandwich' came up right at the top Grin V.funny Grin

(i'll shut up about food now)

Hairydilemma · 11/06/2019 21:53

Did anyone else notice that she pronounced Charlotte ‘Char-lot’ rather than ‘Charlut’ when she was talking to that little girl?

I know someone whose DD is a definite and deliberate ‘Char-lot’ - is it just a posh way of pronouncing it?

Notmyrealname855 · 11/06/2019 22:05

Let me tell you this (as a country bumpkin!), Kate’s clothes were very appropriate and very practical. Plus her hair wasn’t too formal, but formal enough to seem like she politely made effort. Hope they visit us farmers again soon :) Would be lovely to have them holiday in the UK - James Middleton spent quite a while chilling out in the Lakes, hope he could give them good recommendations :)

StCharlotte · 11/06/2019 22:15

I feel I should be looking away out of respect

That's exactly it!

Stravapalava · 11/06/2019 22:39

CPV! I love it!

pastaparadise · 11/06/2019 22:46

Interesting that they spent a recent holiday in the Lakes - i didnt see any news/ pics. Nice they can holiday under the radar, but surprising. I wonder if they just hole up somewhere with supplies smuggled in? Cant imagine them in queues for Beatrix potter world or the boat trips...!

myrtleWilson · 11/06/2019 22:54

notmyrealname - in the video Kate talks about taking the children up to the lakes at half term - either she's a fan or a clever organiser to curry favour at future engagements Wink

I thought so too. They'd blend in easily.

EnidButton · 11/06/2019 23:11

Sid Vicious boots Grin

Well I liked them.

queenofarles · 11/06/2019 23:41

Kate ate the cake.Grin . On the DM video , the lovely lady was sweeping the crumbs away from the table with her hand,

escapade1234 · 11/06/2019 23:46

That twitter video of Kate, she sounds much more normal talking to those girls, doesn’t she? Very different from when she’s interviewed.

The CharlLOT thing is bonkers. I never knew that was a posh thing. I had a teacher who called my friend CharLOT way back, I thought he just didn’t know how to pronounce it.

escapade1234 · 11/06/2019 23:47

God but she must cringe to hear adults saying “ooh, look, it’s a princess - she loves princesses”. Makes it all seem a bit daft when you think about it. 😂

pastaparadise · 11/06/2019 23:58

In scrolling through one of the links before, i thought this dress at Wimbledon was lovely. And couldnt help but notice TM - after all the flak about her recent outfits i thought this looked much better (at least from the waist up!). Also reminded me that i liked meghans Wimbledon outfit too (wide palazzo pants and striped shirt). Would be nice to see them go together this year

pastaparadise · 11/06/2019 23:59

oops forgot the pic!

I couldn’t agree more. People curtseying must be very embarrassing too for someone who didn’t grow up thinking it was normal like the Windsor bros.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 12/06/2019 06:02

Kate is actually wearing a different jacket in the countryside compared to Keswick. ( as well as hiking boots)

RhubarbIsEvil · 12/06/2019 06:42

The Queens’s home in Malta is for sale. I still can’t get over the fact that she left Charles and Anne in BP when they were so young and then says the Malta day’s were the best of her life.

TSSDNCOP · 12/06/2019 07:03

I pronounce Charlotte as CharLOT.

I am not posh.

Hairydilemma · 12/06/2019 07:23

TSSDNCOP i just found it interesting as in my head it’s always ‘CHAR-lut’ and that’s how Princess C is pronounced by the media (when I’ve heard it) so it must be a bit annoying if you’re W&K and just hear your daughter’s name said ‘incorrectly’ all the time.

I have one of those names (think Claudia like cloudier vs Claudia like Claw-dia) so maybe I’m just a bit over-exposed to that sort of thing!

IHeartArya · 12/06/2019 07:33

Also has occurred to me that most of us haven’t been pronouncing Princess Eugenie’s name the way she does either.

Mind you I have a very difficult first name & I get it pronounced all sorts of ways so things like that don’t bother me.

I sort of understand the Queen saying her happiest days were in Malta. Mine were most likely university- pre marriage & dcs, but most importantly pre responsibility. I think that’s what the Queen could be implying. Apart from Malta she always put duty first. I get it. Completely.

DevonUkelele · 12/06/2019 08:15

Looks like two jackets. I imagine having a back up was essential if she was sheep wrangling.

^^yes, of course. But what I don't get @Myimaginarycathasfleas is why have two jackets, and two pairs of boots, so broadly similar?

Why not have a khaki jacket, and one in navy or forest or berry or ... anything really? It's all a bit like the St Patrick's day green coats to me Confused

Also, I don't understand the Charlotte/Char-LOT thing. Perhaps it's because I'm in Australia and we only have Charlotte (at least, as far as I know).

When I try to say Char-LOT in my accent, I get something more like shallot - which I don't feel is a great name for anyone!

Laiste · 12/06/2019 08:21

CharLOT here too.

How does she pronounce Eugenie? You-Jane-eee isn't it?

BertrandRussell · 12/06/2019 08:23

“When I try to say Char-LOT in my accent, I get something more like shallot - which I don't feel is a great name for anyone!”
I get Shallot too- and I am vair’ posh. I thought she said Charlotte- with an equal stress in all syllables but definitely pronouncing the Ts. I’ll go back and listen again.

DevonUkelele · 12/06/2019 08:29

Phew! Feeling in better company now - and I am definitely not at all posh!

@Laiste, I think it's You-jin-ee... with the emphasis on the "you". Not You-jean-ee, which is how I would say it.

(Very happy to be corrected by anyone better spoken though 😁)

Laiste · 12/06/2019 08:30

DevonUkelele - ''I'm in Australia ... When I try to say Char-LOT in my accent, I get something more like shallot''

Interesting. It's the A isn't it. Australian A is like in glad. My A (in Charlotte) is more 'aarrrr'.
