Kate looks great in skinnies but today's look almost like leggings! Still, she has the figure for it and clearly feels comfortable in them.

I think Kate looks great, I love the jacket and the Sloaney frill collar! Agree with Rhubarb would have preferred knee length boots.

I imagine Charles is a reader with a large library of classics and first editions and I can see Meghan reading a lot of books like The Secret or "empowering biographies". The rest of them? Not so sure.

Now I've seen the pictures, yes to the jumper, collar & jeans, no to the jacket & boots!

I was reading an article on Queen Mary the other day and it said it was her who insisted HM and PM were given a decent education, as their parents didn't think it was very important.

Anyone read Marion Crawford's book The Little Princesses? It's utterly charming. It does tell you quite a lot about the Royal childhood, and their education, which was quite broad. The then Duke and Duchess wanted a young governess who would be playful with the princesses.

@Myimaginarycathasfleas I've heard of it but not read it. Apparently poor "Crawfie" was frozen out by the royals after it was published even though, especially by today's standards, it was pretty tame.

No strong views on DoC's outfit today from me. It's okay is the most I can say about it.

The skinnies are OK when they’re blue. It’s the black ones that look like tights.

@QueenOfTheAndals It was very tame, sycophantic even, but highly descriptive of the little girls and their temperaments. More exposing in a way than a few pap shots. Jennie Bond's preface suggests Crawfie was persuaded to write it by her husband. She must have bitterly regretted it but it's a wonderful insight that we might otherwise not have had.

Nooooooo, skinnies are not naff! They are marvellous and practical and comfy with my wellies! Not sure about the piecrust collar, but I am fearful that it may grow on me 😬

Was it Sue Townsend who wrote a book in which they all end up living in council houses? Have been meaning to read that for ages.

Kate has a lot of Khakhi jackets. Today’s one is new £275 from Troy London. I don’t like it too much; buttons too shiny and pockets too bulky.

I love that Dubarry tweed one - have been coveting it for ages. I also like her wax one (and in fact have a very similar one, albeit about a tenth of the price no doubt!). But agree that today's is a bit meh, somehow - i think it's a bit too sticky-out at the bottom [technical knowledge face]?
