Well my Hush parcel today was ok. The cropped animal print trousers are nice exactly the same as the pink flowered ones last year. Two slub tshirts which I needed and a pair od cropped Hareem trousers. Im not really a fan i dont get what they are really, pedal pushers? The cuff is tight on the leg as well. Ill keep because for Glasto they will work quite well as there no chance of them touching the toilet floor!

bingowingsandthings · 05/06/2019 22:41

If anyone can bear posting pictures I'd love to see the monaco trousers, the cropped trousers and the broderie shirt being modelled pretty please!

justilou1 · 05/06/2019 22:43

@miffy - a little trick from when I was a flight attendant (millions of years ago...) A squirt of decongestant nasal spray up each nostril will help a bit with ear pain before flying as it helps clear out the Eustachian tubes. (Nothing else will.) If you use it in the departure lounge and again when you are about 45-30mins prior to landing (most likely to be painful as this is when all the cells and tubes get smaller and air is being forced out of your little ear holes) it will give it enough time to kick in and work properly. Obviously not something you want to use all the time as they wreck your nasal mucosal lining with long-term usage but for flights, they’re a god-send. (And for little kids with colds, too!!!)

GinandGingerBeer · 05/06/2019 22:48

Evening all, knackered so lights out for me but just wanted a quick catch up
Enjoy Spain @Soy. Very jealous Envy it's been soooo cold here today!
@justilou1 I thought your top tip was going to be for @EachandEveryone for when she went to the toilets at glasto..... a bit of decongestant up the nose..... but then again that's probably the worse thing to do from my experience Grin @miffy probably better if you stick with that one, I do hope they're feeling better.

justilou1 · 06/06/2019 04:00

It’s for flights and ear pain, but NOT public toilets!!! Can’t imagine much worse, @Gin! (My tip for that would be sanitizing wipes, gel & a really big peg!)

justilou1 · 06/06/2019 04:36

Hair Issues!!! I went to a different GP today, because the one I went to for the last couple of appointments kept fobbing me off by saying that the reason my head is becoming increasingly bald at such a rapid rate is stress. I disagreed. So did today’s GP. (Found one who agreed that it is male-pattern, AKA androgenic alopaecia and I have a referral to a dermatologist who can see me on Tuesday - a miracle!!! The GP even told me what prescription to ask for!!!) Have any of you ladies with hair issues tried oral minoxidil and/or spironolactone? Can you give me the low-down? I’m kind of barely holding it together. (Along with the news that menopause has kicked in. Yay team hormones!!! Can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m not thrilled either!)

ilovecherries · 06/06/2019 08:32

I have over the years tried most things for baldness and hair loss. I HAVE had spontaneous remissions - for some reason, had a full head of my own hair on my wedding day - but essentially have been bald off and on since 19. At about 40 my remissions started to look very different, both in the amount, pattern, and quality of the hair, so I guess AGA was added into the mix then as well. Minoxidil worked for me while I was using it (I believe the evidence for topical is better than oral, and with fewer side effects), but the hair quality was poor, it gave me a hairy face, and the moment you stop it, the hair falls out again. Spirolcatone you need to take for at least 6 months to see if it works for you, I abandoned it after three as I hated the side effects. I decided if it was a choice between libido and hair, I’d rather have bald sex than no sex Blush. There is a lot of expensive snake oil out there for hair loss, none of it works, but thyroid, B12, Vit D and ferritin levels should all be checked as it can be down to a deficiency in any of those. Biotin supplements will sometimes help a little. I do nothing now. I now keep my head buzzed. Some months it’s shiny bald, others it has a 5 o’clock shadow. I wear faux hair if I feel like it, otherwise the world can go kiss my bald head 😂. I know it’s tough, but there IS a happy life after hair loss. I have always found the process of the hair actually falling out quite distressing, I am MUCH happier now I don’t see that any more.

HRT might also help of course. When I was that age, we were in the middle of the ‘HRT causes breast cancer’ debate, and GPs stopped prescribing it overnight. By the time they started again, the worst of the menopause was over for me, so I never tried it.

All my bloods are in the “excellent” range of normal. My thyroid gland is dead, so monitored closely. I am using oestrogen -snot- gel which I am suspicious may have kicked this delightful journey off... I take hair, skin & nails supplements galore with biotin, 7000 units of vitamin D per day (I don’t absorb it very well hence massive dose - it’s brought range up and improved bone density to osteopenia.) I’m basically 90 already. I have no libido, so oral minoxidil isn’t going to work. Unfortunately sensitive scalp and seborrheic dermatitis rule out topical use. (I have tried - was like napalm) Sigh....

EachandEveryone · 06/06/2019 10:27

My thyroxine levels are all over the place my doctors arent bothered they just keep changing my tablets. The HRT patches have been good for me but its been terrible for my boobs i hate looking at them they are so big and just make me look fatter than i am.

dontcallmelen · 06/06/2019 11:38

@SoyYo have a brilliant time, wafting around looking fabulous 😍

justilou1 · 06/06/2019 13:16

@each -luckily for me, I never had milk ducts, (Mum smoked heavily during her pregnancy with me. Will probably be a syndrome one day. Surprisingly common for people who can’t breastfeed to find this out, but you don’t read this in any of the hype, so you don’t find out until you’re an exhausted, guilt-ridden wreck with a tiny, hungry, screaming baby! ) Anyway.... Hasn’t affected boobages or caused any other symptoms apart from lifting the black cloud a bit. Maybe I should increase the dosage! Hormones are so weird and so bloody mean to us!!!

NotAnActualSheep · 06/06/2019 13:19

Oh laska - you're being very sensible sending all the stuff back Halo . Shame but, yes, if you're not going to wear more than a few times it is probably the right thing to do. You can think of the money "saved" to put towards something else! Sorry you're still having difficulty getting in the diet mindset. It annoys me when people say you really have to want to do it...sometimes you do want to, but other things conspire against you! (DS's snack cupboard mostly for me...) I would say something inspiring and uplifting about loving yourself the way you are - but I'm not very good at that.

cherries - lol at the doll bikinis! Glad you're happy with this year's version!

nink - bum about the marked espadrilles. I agree that QA seems to be very hit and miss these days. Hope the new ones are better - especially as they are so comfy. But sorry yours weren't so successful len.

Waves to soy! Hope you're having a lovely time! And what a nice surprise to find a fully stocked wardrobe! I keep getting catalogues for Aspiga and having a bit of a drool, but my lifestyle is REALLY not lovely beachy- summery dresses (even in the summer). Like laska I just wouldn't get a chance to wear them. Booooo Sad .

Also hello never - I was wondering how you were. Sorry to hear work is being stressful. Friends who are teachers always say this time of year is a pain...still a few weeks to go and a lot to get through - plus end of year stuff - but all the children are knackered and not in the mood for it! Sympathies... Flowers . I know what you mean about the t shirt sale. Even with the discounts I'm not really tempted. and I have far too many t shirts already I did wear the rainbow one from BA to pilates last night (my t shirt choice has become a bit of a running joke...) as it really wasn't rainbow weather yesterday...just torrential rain... And it did get complimented, which is always nice.

each - I keep thinking some cropped harems would be nice, but then having the same thoughts as you TBH... not quite sure how I'd style them, and also not sure how the cuff would work mid-calf. Though i agree, super-practical for avoiding floor touching and for keeping your peg on your nose Grin

just - sympathies with the hair issues...at least you have some idea about what to try now, and a doctor who isn't just blaming you for being a stressed woman.. Hmm . Hormones are pesky little things...just when you think you've got them sussed, they change and do something totally different. (Mine currently think I want inch long hairs to pop out of my chin at some point in the afternoon, that i swear were not there at all in the morning...Thanks for that, then...).

bingowings - I tried the monaco trousers earlier in the week - there's a photo of me at the top of page 6. My arse is a substantial size 14, and those are a 12 (I took hush's advice to size down, and they aren't as relaxed as on the model, but were not tight at all). I sent them back - but only because I didn't really need them - they are nice enough. I also have the cropped easy trousers, in black which are a much thinner material. They are much looser on me, but I do have those in a 14 - I could probably have got away with a 12 but my wobbly legs probably appreciate the bigger size as the fabric is very light. Afraid they are (literally) in the wash at the moment so don't have a photo of them.

NotAnActualSheep · 06/06/2019 13:26

Crikey just - i have never heard of that being common as a side effect of maternal smoking. That should be made more widely known, as you get all the "well, my mum smoked and i'm fine" anecdata - when it can only show up later in life in something like that. Boobs, hey....

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 14:07

I am no so good not... as have actually reordered the Monaco, as the reason I returned was that they didn't feel loose enough in the leg when I knelt down in them, (not stretchy fabric ) and they had a 12 in blueberry today . Its whether the12 will be too big in the bum though! ( who knows with hush these days ? ). I have also ordered the v vest in black as really like these and the cropped leopard leggings both of which I wanted .. as I had a £20 voucher. The green Chino shorts I had on back order with 10% off have finally dispatched as well,

I am also waiting another bargainous Fantasie bikini top I found also from these people, who also look good for cheap swimwear , if anyone interested ..

ilovecherries · 06/06/2019 14:26

I’m doing the silver look today. Hopefully not too cougar-like!

Looking good @cherries :) Love the denim jacket and the silver hair! You look brilliant.
That's exactly it @not. The children have 'lost it' now!!! Well there is only 3wks to go!
@laska, gorgeous bikini top.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 14:38

I did two fast days this week but my exercise has kind of fallen this week mostly due to the stress of work and feeling a bit emotional about my SIL. Just couldn't face it. Im trying to tell myself not to be hard on myself because sometimes life does get in the way of things. I agree @not.

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 15:10

Some days it just doesnt work( and its not working for me at all at the moment , but I am eating healthily and staying about the same rather than gaining, (but I am also drinking, - not huge amounts but a glass or two about 3 evenings out of the 7 ) - which is why I am not losing although I have just had cheese on toast as I really fancied it , but this is a first for some time Bum to it all.

I really shouldn't be letting the ongoing family dispute/ inheritance stress stuff get to me , but sadly it really is ..

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 15:11

I wish I could say more here , but cant really, but it really is a shit situation..

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 15:12

never Flowers.. I really shouldn't moan , compared to what your poor SIL and afmily are going through right now.. sorry

Laska2Meryls · 06/06/2019 15:13

Cherries I hear you Roar!! ( you look fab!)

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 15:46

@Laska, we all have things in our lives. Moan away! :)
I thought i would fess up to my sweet tooth. Just eaten about 4 pieces of tablet OMG the calories must surely be more than wine!!

neveradullmoment99 · 06/06/2019 15:47

...wish i could say i have been eating healthily..well actually i have, its all the other shit i eat!!

FuzzyPuffling · 06/06/2019 16:48

LOOK I BOUGHT SOMETHING!!!!
Ok, not a wonderful summery outfit or something floaty for a night out, but a cosy padded jacket for next winter. I have a habit of buying out of season to save money and this was reduced from £125 to£25. Billy Bargain!
