Oh, and while we were in Leeds, we went to Anthropologie. First time I’ve ever been in one, and I did fall in love with THE most gorgeous green silk wrap dress. It was a thing of beauty, (with a price to match). DH tried to talk me into having it with promises to ensure I got at least 6 occasions to wear it over the summer, but it was a dress that really deserved beautiful shoes, so I held back. Halo

I love Anthropologie - beautiful clothes and they do some really lovely homeware too.

GinandGingerBeer · 08/06/2019 23:52

How good was Killing Eve....... fabulous!

I've been watching riviera @whiskyremorse, love the clothes, wish I had that kinda budget
Anthropology is just brilliant isn't it? In fact that area of the Victoria quarter just outside JL has all my favourite shops. I have a week off at the end of June and will be popping over for a few hours. The jl is excellent.

Laska2Meryls · 09/06/2019 08:14

Loved Killing Eve, was thinking with new writer it may not be so good.. Usually we watch it when it airs on tv but as we are going on holiday in 3weeks we shall watch it all before we go.. No spoilers, promise....!

twosoups1972 · 09/06/2019 10:13

@miffy glad you are feeling better and hope the toothache eases soon. I LOVE the H&M culottes, so stylish.

Hope everyone is enjoying some sun this morning and having a good weekend. Had a good, if little exhausting, shopping trip yesterday. Found a gorgeous prom dress for dd1, she's got a lovely figure and looks great in most things so it was hard to choose. And after a slightly stressful trip with dd3 (I kept my patience just did a bit of inward eye-rolling Grin) we found some t-shirts and long shorts for her school trip next week. Of course most of it will probably be deemed 'ugly' by her and returned but fingers crossed!

GinandGingerBeer · 09/06/2019 10:13

I don't think it will take us long, watched two last night. Not long til your hols then @laska,you'll be the best dressed woman in Greece Smile

Laska2Meryls · 09/06/2019 10:55

Gin yes I am stupidly excited about it ! - watching killing Eve, that is , but of course the holiday as well (but at the moment KE more!!) .

Thanks for the compliment , I am never v confident about my looks , but since all the positive bikini comments am feeling quite good about myself , even though i have put on weight..
Twosoups, glad the dress hunt is over! and hope DD3 accepts her clothes also ..

whiskyremorse · 09/06/2019 11:07

I am casually Hushing today in dyed stripy aimes and a black loose t with white embroidered stars on it. I think it was called aries? Anyway it has faded to a scruffy level so it will go in the next dye wash, probably with my rouched skirt. It will lose the white star effect but as they are embroidered they will still show slightly I think. Dogs walked and fed, time for the hoover to come out I think!

miffy2 · 09/06/2019 14:02

Off to the airport soon to send my DS1 (17) to Valencia for 3 weeks! He is a good traveller, having been away with Scouts on many occasions. This time there is little to no supervision apart from set classes and meal times, so I hope he and his mates don't go too wild. He is part of a group of 7 going.
Wearing a lovely flower-patterned Boden skirt from last year with my relaxed T in white from M&S. It is warm here today but not sunny.

Laska2Meryls · 09/06/2019 14:42

Lovely day here warm and sunny but about more cloud coming over now. Just got back from a coastalwalk over the downs and beach. Wearing Hush green Chino shorts, khaki v vest top and my faded jersey shirt again over, and Hush Panama..time for a late lunch in the garden now Smile

Ellapaella · 09/06/2019 14:44

Wow @miffy2 lucky ds!
Also loved killing Eve last night, watched the first two episodes. Hoping Villanelles wardrobe improves though 😂
Carolyn is sooo stylish.. I loved everything she was wearing last night.

Huffthepuff · 09/06/2019 15:56

Saw this and thought of you

I’ve spent a pleasant couple of hours catching up with the thread (18 pages! You lovely ladies can chat! 🤣)

First day since arriving last Sunday eve that I can honestly say we are doing nothing at all. Just relaxing at home though may go and sunbathe in the terrace with the late evening sun (have not really done much sunbathing as I’m done with getting even older and wrinklier! Wink)

Also I had an incredibly long work day in Paris on Thursday which kind of cut the short hols in half.

Too much time has passed to comment on it all but the pics that stick on my mind are
@ella your dress is fantastic and Flowers re DS I know teenage boys are funny one minute cuddly bears and the next wanting their freedom. Never fear he will always come back to you (look at my two who after uni are happily ensconced keeping the GB home fires burning).

@laska loved the shorts on you and the Jigsaw kimono. Shame you returned the MV

@cherries looking fab!

@len I liked you in the OS dress, so pretty! But agree maybe it needed a lower neckline to be a keeper. Still even with high neck looked amazing on you

@each great Monaco’s and also liked the kimono

@whisky yes on all the dresses

@soups glad you found “the”Daniel trainers in the end

@not the Hush maxi and top! Perfection on You

@never beautiful happy pink Mac

Everyone else who shared their wisdom and challenges (specially @justi and @fuzzy) thank you for keeping me nodding my head in agreement
Loved all the links too!

I’m so totally happy here atm don’t want to return. I have a whole week of project work in Prague last week in June but I’ll worry about that when the time comes and there’s worse places to go away with work for many days right?

Not many fashion news this time, as I realised just how much I have and how little wear it’s had since last summer. I found the Greek widow dress here too which I wore yesterday when I went for a day of family long rice lunch and beach to an island off the coast of Alicante.
And instead I invested in an amazing huge cocoon cane swing chair for my living room/patio here. It’s very soothing.

SoyYo · 09/06/2019 17:13

I swam in the Med in this cove and a pic of me with some of my family and DH yesterday after an epic 3 hour lunch (post swimming) can you spot me in the Greek widow dress? Grin

Ellapaella · 09/06/2019 17:24

@SoyYo so jealous! That looks amazing! Especially from my cloud covered back garden 😁

ilovecherries · 09/06/2019 17:24

Aw, Boyd Tunnock. He’s so lovely.

Right, I’m the one needing a slap with a wet fish today, as I’m feeling ridiculously upset about how I’m going to look at this graduation. Which I do know is not at all about me, but I don’t want DD to feel embarrassed if I stick out like a sore thumb. All my friendship group seem to have graduating kids this year, and my bloody FB feed is full of women wearing fitted Phase 8 type dresses and showing off 5 inch heels and hats (Hats??? Really? FFS wigs and hats don’t go AT ALL). Then one of my RL friends (I need new friends) was beyond horrified I would be wearing trainers. She said really bluntly ‘you just cant. You need to find proper shoes and suck it up, you’ll look ridiculous and make a complete show of yourself’. I have asked DD and she said ‘oh, for heavens sake mum, we used to think you’d been in a wheelchair for all my big occasions, what do your shoes matter, just be happy’. Everyone wants to suggest shoes that I could suck up for a while, no one seems to believe that I have tried on 100s of pairs. It should be a happy occasion, and I’m dreading it now, I’m going to look NOTHING like the other mothers. I’m going to be forced into a floaty midi dress because of the trainers, and look far too casual amongst all these fitted Ascot-like numbers, and can’t even wear a fricking HAT. I want to cry (I have been crying), and then I’ve catastrophised it to WTF will I wear to her wedding (she isn’t planning to get married anytime soon!) It’s not just the graduation, it’s the prize-winners garden party thing after as well. I just feel really upset and can’t see a way to fix it. Weep.

@Cherries have a large glass of wine/gine whatever your poison and give yourself a talking to. Your daughter doesn't want an insta-mum at her graduation, she wants you. With your bald head, contrary feet and amazing sense of style and fun.

whiskyremorse · 09/06/2019 17:41

As someone whose mum didn't live long enough to do some life events with me, she really won't give a shit what you wear other than you being there. And get some new friends 🙄 if you don't mind me saying

ilovecherries · 09/06/2019 17:45

I know, I’m being a complete drama llama today. I just can’t believe how much it’s upset me - or why really.

OP posts:
GinandGingerBeer · 09/06/2019 18:05

Well your DD has obviously been brought up with better manners and a sounder view on life than your 'friend'
Why on earth does it matter to her what you wear on your feet! Shock Honestly what an incredibly rude insensitive thing to say.
I'm more than happy to send you this, I've only worn it once. Would look excellent with trainers imo, cool n funky xx

(I have a dear friend who has foot problems, she is VERY smart n clever (an assistant professor) and just delivered a speech to fellow pro's in Brazil..... wearing crocs. And bloody good for her. What her feet looked like didn't matter, it's her intelligence that does, your fabulous daughters intelligence and determination of which you are celebrating.
May their feet throb and their seams part when seated Grin

twosoups1972 · 09/06/2019 18:08

@cherries I am fuming at your ‘friend’. Pls listen to your lovely dd (and us). Right, have you decided on the dress yet?

twosoups1972 · 09/06/2019 18:09

And anyway trainers look fab with a dress. You will look great.
