Previous thread

And as promised, here's a guide to the acronyms we use on these threads:

HM - the Queen
DoE - Prince Philip
PM - Princess Margaret
QM - the Queen Mum
W&K - William and Kate
H&M - Harry and Meghan
C&C - Charles and Camilla
B&E - Beatrice and Eugenie
Max & Wax - Maxima and Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands
CPV - Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden
HCP - (Hot) Carl-Philip of Sweden
CPM - Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
Mar & Fre - CPM when she’s with her husband, Frederik of Denmark
SWFM - (Single White Female) Marie of Denmark, on account of resembling several other royal women!

I think that’s all of them??

Beatrice looks dreadful there; far too dark for such a nice day, and fun event.

I like the DoC dress, bar the hideous section at the bottom. Those sections always seem so weirdly flouncy and out of place.

I like Max's hat, though!

PinkieTuscadero · 20/05/2019 19:52

Oooh when I'm at home my mother and I often go for lunch to Powerscourt. 10/10 would recommend the Avoca Café there, especially on a sunny day when you can sit out on the terrace Grin

Wetdogloveshubert · 20/05/2019 19:54

@QueenOfTheAndals are we going to need a campaigning title for the next thread? Grin

TyraAllen · 20/05/2019 19:59

Apparently Kate was at Chelsea on Saturday, finishing the planting, according to the gardening guy on the BBC, who saw here there.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 20/05/2019 20:00

Yes totally agree we've got to focus on the fleeces and Erdem. I was getting ahead of myself after the giddy success with Edward's suit.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 20/05/2019 20:00

I quite like the Erdem dress.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 20/05/2019 20:02

Oh yes, the espadrilles are a bit of a horror.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 20:07

This is so cute. George gives the garden 20/10

Wrecking ball gives an ominous creak when William has a go!

itswinetime · 20/05/2019 20:10

That is very cute of George

AudacityOfHope · 20/05/2019 20:15

I think Kate's looked great today. Younger, fresher, bit more casual and modern. I can't really get into 'those culottes make her legs look short'

Sometimes fashion is just that - fashionable! I'd be bored shitless if I only ever dressed to make my legs look longer and my stomach smaller, etc.

I always like her in Erdem too. The yellow Erdem was one of my faves!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 20:15

The Queen at Chelsea over the years.
Looking back at her aged about 60; you realise how elderly she is Sad

Because she’s so ubiquitous; on stamps, money etc. You forget she’s a living person and not a monument eg Statue of Liberty iyswim....?

I was just about to write on this thread that C&C are in Ireland today and tomorrow.
That photo you posted is in Powerscourt, a magical place and well worth a visit if anyone is thinking of visiting Ireland.
Camilla's blue is lovely on her.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 20:20

I just wanted to post some pics of the Duchess of Kent

It’s so sad to see her decline. Does she have dementia? She is 85 now. Back in the day; she was like an English Grace Kelly

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2019 20:22

I don't know about dementia but she didn't look well at H&M's wedding. Lady Helen looks SO MUCH like her now

Sorry I'm not a fan of the Erdem dress at all (didn't like it on the duchess of Kent either). Sophie looked great, PMSL at Edward finally in a single breasted jacket 😄 Beatrice... why are you wearing a coat on a lovely mild evening in London 🙄

PinkieTuscadero · 20/05/2019 20:31

I really loved Kate's culottes and plimsoll look today. Great to see her trying new things fashion wise. I wouldn't describe her as having short legs. I think her legs and her hair are her best features.

TSSDNCOP · 20/05/2019 20:34

I loved that Kates culottes and plummy's matched her clearly suer-relaxed frame of mind. But the trousers made me see why she goes for her skinnies. I'm not a great fan of the Erdem dress. I really do think that it's a bit like Orla Kelly who I also didn't get.

Fair play to the DoW for shinning up the treehouse.

SlipperOrchid · 20/05/2019 20:55

I can pretty much guarantee Kate had numerous pairs of those culottes with her today. They crease like tissue paper and look crumpled very quickly.’ You certainly wouldn’t climb up a ladder and bend down to look at things without standing up looking like an uni toned mess! That makes me wonder if it’s the same for all her less formal events ie numerous items to remain looking fresh and ironed?

I liked the neckline on the floral dress. The rest of it was a bit Little House on the Prairie!

SenecaFalls · 20/05/2019 23:13

There's a picture of me as a child in the 70s as a bridesmaid wearing what could be taken for an Erdem dress now.

Same here except that I was not a child. That Little House on the Prairie vibe was a popular bridesmaid look in the 1970s.

But I did like that tweed Erdem she wore some months ago.

SenecaFalls · 20/05/2019 23:14

Cross post with Slipper. Wink

mathanxiety · 21/05/2019 05:16

Beatrice's outfit at Chelsea is like a man's dressing gown and slippers.

I may be in a minority of one here but I liked KM's dress.
