I wonder if other society couples look down on Pippa and her husband for neither of them coming from aristocratic stock.

AhoyDelBoy · 20/05/2019 15:15

Pippa's husband isn't handsome but he isn't particularly unattractive either. But a definite case of "what first attracted you to multi-millionaire James Matthews"! Her ex was very good-looking but in a "cad and a bounder" kind of way, IYKWIM.

Agree. He’s very ordinary looking. Plain I suppose he’d be called if he was female Hmm. What is ‘cad and a bouncer’?

Has anyone commented on Pippa’s pink evening gown? (Still haven’t caught up with the thread. It didn’t do much for me tbh. Just goes to show that money can’t buy taste.

Papellino · 20/05/2019 15:17

'cad and a bounder' is a polite way of referring to a posh man who shags around.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2019 15:18

Yes, the sort that would usually be found in a Jilly Cooper novel!

queenofarles the reason I say that Kate has short legs is because I have the Jigsaw trousers that she wore with that pussy bow blouse. I'm at least 4 or 5 inches shorter than she is and didn't have them taken up. I wear them with a mid-heel, not a high heel as she does. Her height is above her hips - she doesn't have long legs.

AhoyDelBoy · 20/05/2019 15:31

Oh! Blush haha I like that! Will remember it for future use Grin

Papellino · 20/05/2019 15:35

I would describe Kate as being long legged.

PinkSun9 · 20/05/2019 15:36

Both Kate and Pippa have short legs in comparison to their torsos.

AhoyDelBoy · 20/05/2019 15:51

Wasn’t going to weigh in on the Kate leg length debate but I’ve just seen this picture on instagram, which I think confirms she has short legs.

Is the queen definitely going to Chelsea today? Seems a little late in the day for her.... unless it's is not a public visit??

Papergirl1968 · 20/05/2019 15:57

Just jumping on to say I think James Matthews has a weak face. A chinless wonder.
He is probably a nice guy though. I imagine pippa wears the trousers in that household...

queenofarles · 20/05/2019 15:58

'cad and a bounder' is a polite way of referring to a posh man who shags around. Ive known a few of themWink but I don’t think Nico is Posh.

Papergirl1968 · 20/05/2019 16:01

Oh, and while the bride’s dresses, or at least the two I’ve seen were nice enough, some of the guests looked appalling, including Amelia Windsor. Frocky horror indeed...

mumdom · 20/05/2019 16:16

I always think James Matthews (Pippa’s husband and brother of the more famous Spencer) just looks like a really nice guy. I love that he goes to work on his pushbike or with his dog despite being extremely rich, and the son of someone even richer. BTW, aristos don’t despise their friends for not being aristos. It tends to be what I call the ‘bankers’ daughters brigade’ - rich but not as rich as they’d like to be, on the outer fringes of these super-rich circles but finally dating a provincial baronet - who tend to be arses to newcomers.

myrtleWilson · 20/05/2019 16:30

itswinetime Kensington Palace twitter feed says it is an evening visit

itswinetime · 20/05/2019 16:33

Ahh I see thank you I just assumed it would be in the day.

beanaseireann · 20/05/2019 16:46

" What attracted you to your multi millionaire husband, who was a family friend for quite a while?"

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 20/05/2019 16:46

I thought it was so strange that Kate wasn't anywhere at the wedding, her whole family was there.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 16:55

I suspect she was pretty busy with Chelsea. They probably have to get the plants in at an optimal time. I think she does put her money where her mouth is. Also William was effectively at work; so despite the nanny perhaps she was just with her kids.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 20/05/2019 17:02

Letizia in a gorgeous frock and shoes also sported by CP Victoria. ( but not quite as well accessorised/)

I thought it was so strange that Kate wasn't anywhere at the wedding, her whole family was there.

I think there are probably issues of protocol that are complicated when William isnt there and even if no one in the family cares the press would. I also wonder if they are aware of the optics around Kate attending a family event while William was at the football (I know he was there officially) in light of recent speculation. Or maybe Kate just isn't close to her husbands second cousin. I didn't see either of Anne's children. Eugenie (in fact was Andrew there?) Sophie Wessex, Charles and Camillia there were quiet a few missing if you think about it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/05/2019 17:14

Andrew was at the wedding, I'm pretty sure I saw him standing with Fergie and Beatrice. More surprised to see Fergie there tbh, as I didn't think she was particularly close to the Michaels of Kent.

Or maybe Kate just isn't close to her husbands second cousin.

Then how come her whole family are close to them? Pippa, her brother, her parents?

Anyway, she must have had good reasons not to attend. I was just looking forward to more frocks.
