Would you wear these trainers? Please also say roughly what age you are.

I'm mid thirties and I wear them a lot with jeans but my DH thinks they are for grannies

My mil was trying these on in Ecco the other day . She is 76 .

eurochick · 11/05/2019 15:23

I think if you are a teenage hipster you could look fine but for anyone a bit older you are in danger of looking really frumpy.

elQuintoConyo · 11/05/2019 15:23

Does anyone know how to stop eyes vomiting?

Razzlefrazzle · 11/05/2019 15:24

I'm worryingly close to sixty and would not wear those. They look like the shoes in my (90 year old) Mum's Damart catalogue. I do love comfortable but look at Vans for something less frumpy

BikeRunSki · 11/05/2019 15:25

No

They are virtually identical to the shoes my dad used to wear once his Parkinson’s got so bad he could only shuffle.

I’m 48

Stiffasaboard · 11/05/2019 15:26

Fabulous shoes

For doing brain surgery or carpet bowls

Socksontheradiator · 11/05/2019 15:26

I'm in my fifties and I would wear them with jeans. They'd look old largish paired with a a skirt imho.

fancynancyclancy · 11/05/2019 15:26

I wore these in my early 30s. Stay away from beige & perforated holes.

I just showed my 17yr old who hangs out in places where there's hipsters.
She said, "oh yeah, I've seen hipsters wearing them, they just look like they've borrowed their Grandads shoes, whilst cultivating fleas in their stupid beards"

Erm....

I've just shown them to my nearly 86 year old Nan

She said no

For the record I'm 34 and I'm with my Nan on this one

donquixotedelamancha · 11/05/2019 15:36

Found a picture now of the correct colour.

Oh that's much better. Yes those pale fawn coloured trainers are completely different from the beige granny slippers in your OP. Perfect for clubbing.

snowdrop6 · 11/05/2019 15:36

Old men trainers with socks

KooMoo · 11/05/2019 15:57

No sorry op. Ageing style & colour.

OccidentalPurist · 11/05/2019 16:19

I'm sorry but another no. They look like you're nursing giant corns!

TuppenceTwo · 11/05/2019 16:31

They are pretty grannyish in that colour! A lot of my friends wear these from New Look - they’re in their 20s.

Cherylshaw · 11/05/2019 16:36

Haha I'm in the minority here but I like them I'm early 30s and only wear that style of trainer, mostly vans tho. Super comfortable

TooMinty · 11/05/2019 16:39

I'm 40 and I wouldn't wear them. My MIL has a pair just like that, she is 67 and yes she is a granny...

MaryBoBary · 11/05/2019 16:58

29 and no.

They look like something my FIL would wear.

drquin · 11/05/2019 17:12

I wonder if OP is local to me ..... or someone else reading this is .... there's an identical pair just gone up for sale on my local FB Buy & Sell 😳

In fairness, they're Dune ... and look better than any of the photos on here! So maybe they're ok in real life 👍

AfterSchoolWorry · 11/05/2019 17:13

No way. I wouldn't be caught dead in them. I'm 49.

wincarwoo · 11/05/2019 17:14

This style of shoe is all over the place at the moment. So all of you turning your nose up are really not with it at all shoe-wise.
I think they are pretty ugly myself but they are totes popular too.

OP just wear them - age is irrelevant.

Bluntness100 · 11/05/2019 17:29

Looks like your husband wins this one op.

What possessed you? 🤣

Seriously though, there are so many cool trainers out there to pick from.

SrSteveOskowski · 11/05/2019 20:50

39 and not in a million years. Sorry, but I'm definitely with your DH on this one. My 79 year old MIL wears something similar though, and she's a woman who's really not into fashion.
