Any guesses on what Meghan will wear to introduce baby Sussex? I'm guessing Givenchy as it's her go-to designer for big events.

Then again she could surprise us all and come out in a JoJo Maman Bébé breastfeeding tunic!

Are 'being HRH' and having a title directly linked?

So could/does Archie be HRH, but without a title?

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 20:29

Isn't it only princes and those married to them who are HRHs?

OP posts:
itswinetime · 08/05/2019 20:31

I think once Charles is on the throne it will change but at the moment he is known as Archie no HRH no title. Once Charles is king he will automatically become a prince (and HRH I assume) but it's possible that they will choose to forgo the title in a similar way to Anne's children. I may have completely misunderstood that though.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 20:39

I don’t see the title situation changing when Charles is King.
If Harry and Meghan were going follow «protocol» he would be, for arguments sake be Archibald Henry, Earl of Dumbarton to be upgraded to HRH Prince Archibald of Sussex.

Instead, as an adult, the world is his oyster. He could be truly anonymous and drop the Mountbatten Windsor ( which let’s face it, is a complete give away) and introduce himself as Mr Archie Harrison film producer / conservationist / doctor. It’s a smart move on Harry and Meghan’s part to give their child anonymity if he wants it.

banivani · 08/05/2019 20:42

I loved CPV’s pyjama outfit! I love mad trousers. She’s been wearing a lot of Swedish or at least Scandinavian design on the state strip to Vietnam. Plenty of pics here www.svenskdam.se/kungliga-modebloggen/inspireras-av-victorias-vietnam-garderob-har-hittar-du-plaggen/

PS and PCP were with Marianne Bernadotte, a relation (by marriage).

Little Archie is adorable! And I have to say, who said the name would unify the UK and the US? Because it does so very well, doesn’t it? Both British and American!

itswinetime · 08/05/2019 20:44

I agree I don't think they will choose to take the title up once Charles is on the throne just that they could if they wanted. Can't see the benefit though personally.

queenofarles · 08/05/2019 20:53

m curious as to how all the people slagging off their name choice would feel if their choices were publicly ridiculed
Oh please! Do calm yourself.

My dd1 has an old fashioned name and I was constantly reminded how it suited an old lady, I agreed and laughed too , because it’s true it’s very old lady like.

AdaColeman · 08/05/2019 20:56

Smashing photo of Camilla in Leipzig!

That's exactly what I was thinking to. I had thought Harry would forgo any HRH title for his children as Harry himself really struggled with being defined by who he was born and not ever truly having the freedom to go off and become whoever he wanted.

SwimmingintheDeepBLUESea · 08/05/2019 21:03

I also really like the use of Harrison. It defines him as not just any Mountbatten Windsor but as Prince Harry's son. It's really sweet and meaningful. It's also quite popular in America (I believe).

Archie - whilst I generally prefer children to be given the full version of their name, even if they are only ever referred to as the nickname version, I can see why they wanted just Archie. Plus Archie is a Scottish name, fairly common in UK.

yellowalstroemeria · 08/05/2019 21:17

I love that Camilla picture. You can see her going aaaawwww.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 21:24

Little Archie will get a title eventually as he'll be the next duke of Sussex. But sensible move to not give him a title right now.

Late late late to the party but I just wish she had worn a nice, comfy dress.

BertrandRussell · 08/05/2019 21:33

Shame he’s not Archie Merkel-Windsor....

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 21:38

Thé Duke of Sussex is a meaningless title. It’s not like there’s a stately home and hectares of land attached to it. I bet Archie never uses the title. He’ll be well established in his own field by the time he inherits.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 21:42

I don't think any of the royal dukedoms come with a house or land do they? But the eldest son will still technically be the next duke!

Oh I dunno, curly - there are a few pubs....

LoversLane · 08/05/2019 21:45

I too prefer children to be given a full name and then a shortened version used but this is what they have chosen for their son and I am happy for them. Their baby, their choice. I do think the name is very sweet.

Megan looked lovely, if shell shocked. Very understandable. I get a feeling that heels are her thing and she isn’t much of a flat shoe person. Wish Harry has warn a different suit though, or a smart casual look.

Love the picture of the queen. Reminds me so much of DHs GMa seeing our twins for the first time. She was the same age as HMQ and cooing over them and just wanted a cuddle.

SenecaFalls · 08/05/2019 21:47

introduce himself as Mr Archie Harrison film producer / conservationist /

Good point. In making one of his names work as a surname, he is all set up if he wants to pursue a non-royal life.

Horsemad · 08/05/2019 22:17

Do you know, I didn't even look at what Prince Harry was wearing!! 😲 I was checking out the baby & then Meghan. 😆

Calloway · 08/05/2019 22:27

Harry was dressed like a 1980s double glazing salesman

Maybe it was the only thing left that baby Archie hadn't sicked up on?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 08/05/2019 23:05

Teenage me would be pretty pissed off if my Mum & Dad were Prince/Princess/Duke/Duchess but they hadn't given me a title.
Grown up me couldn't careless as I would like the anonymity I could have or want when needed. Plus I know my Great Granny is Queen & my Grandad will be King one day.
However I would demand my family nickname would be Princess 🤣

Butterymuffin · 08/05/2019 23:05

she isn’t much of a flat shoe person.

Maybe but didn't she wear some flats on the Australian tour that were eco-friendly and made of recycled materials or something? I remember because I liked the look of them - I am a flats wearer.

BertrandRussell · 08/05/2019 23:28

She’s not going to wear flat shoes for a photo shoot that’s going round the world 15 times in the first microsecond! Can you imagine the comments on her weight if she had!
