Any guesses on what Meghan will wear to introduce baby Sussex? I'm guessing Givenchy as it's her go-to designer for big events.

Then again she could surprise us all and come out in a JoJo Maman Bébé breastfeeding tunic!

CBS, NBC and ABC are the main tv networks in the US, I think.

I think its strange to do a press photocall before Charles has met the baby (and presumably the Queen hasn't either)

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:13

Thanks @beachyhead, I didn't know what a pool camera was so I googled and voila. It hardly sounds like an exclusive.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:15

@FFSeverynameisused the queen is only up the road, maybe she has visited? Charles is overseas at the moment. And besides, imagine the 'outrage' if they made people wait a week or two for photos?

I like the way Harry and Megan have handled the public side. It feels more natural and normal than the Cambridge way.

RhubarbIsEvil · 08/05/2019 09:17

But where IS Charles????

I don’t think it’s strange at all. Louis was presented to the world four hours after birth so the world met him before any relatives did.

Get the thing out of the way and then they can enjoy parenthood.

🍼🤮 💩 😷 and repeat.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:18

Charles and Camilla are going back to his roots visiting Germany at the moment.

I'm looking forward to seeing the baby and learning the names, mainly because of all the build up. After that, meh.

Harry is basically the equivalent of Andrew and I don't remember much interest in the York girls growing up.

That's not to say I wish the Sussexes anything but joy and a happy life, but if they disappeared tomorrow I've enough proper royals to keep me interested.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:24

Was there much talk of a Fergie and Diana feud in the 80s? I can't remember. I know they appeared in public looking chummy quite a lot so perhaps not. But isn't Diana rumoured to have leaked info about Fergie to the press behind her back?

OP posts:
QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:26

I can't see H&M disappearing for a while yet. They're going to have to step up a bit more once Charles becomes king, which can't be that far away.

OP posts:
Stravapalava · 08/05/2019 09:27

My understanding is that Diana & Fergie were good friends before they got married and while they were SILs. I think there was some falling out over something minor and then Diana died so I'm not sure they ever made up. I know Fergie still speaks highly of her great friend Diana.

Daisypie · 08/05/2019 09:30

When convenient to give them a purposeH and M go on about the Commonwealth and how mportant it is to them. Not sure where playing to the US market fits in with this.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:36

@Stravapalava Apparently Fergie wrote in her autobiography that she got a verruca after borrowing a pair of Diana's shoes! Whenever she's interviewed she sounds genuinely upset that they never made up before Diana's death. It sounds like something that would've blown over in time.

OP posts:
Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/05/2019 09:42

H&M are very keen on the Commonwealth gig. They wouldn't need to be based in the UK to carry that out. I think they realise that interest in them in the UK is very shallow, whereas they are hoping to spark deeper interest in their causes.

AhoyDelBoy · 08/05/2019 09:46

So that will be 11pm here if your guess is correct Curly, I can do that Grin
Speaking of Fergie, imagine this being done nowadays Shock

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:48

Fergie looks beautiful there! I don't think I've ever seen such a lovely photo of her.

GrumbleBumble · 08/05/2019 09:53

I think the speed of the birth messed the plans up - I think the plan was to announce she was in labour after say 10-12 so there was no doubt it was the real thing and not about to stall but a short labour meant that couldn't happen. Having stated they would announce labour they then had to fudge it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:57

They aren't really winning at PR at the moment but it doesn't help that people seem determined to put the most negative spin on anything they say or do. Perhaps they need a spin doctor like the one Charles hired before he married Camilla.

OP posts:
SevenSeasofRye · 08/05/2019 10:04

I thought they had a new publicity guy? I’d so, he’s failing dismally. I am curious to know if M and H are aware of the bad press they’re receiving. If so they don’t appear to care.

SevenSeasofRye · 08/05/2019 10:06

But Grumble why say she went into labour in the early hours when clearly she went into labour on Sunday, and she had already had the baby hours ago? An absolute mess.

crochetmonkey74 · 08/05/2019 10:06

Thanks for the replies all! I didn't even realise Pippa had a baby- I am obviously very hard of thinking today! : )

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 10:07

I thought he was their new private secretary? Didn't they hire an American woman who's worked for Hillary Clinton as their PR? I don't know if she's actually started working for them yet.

OP posts:
SevenSeasofRye · 08/05/2019 10:09

I also think press call would have been better in a week or two when members of the RF had met the baby and when M is more recovered. They could have released one photo of the baby before that to keep the baying public happy.

hopeishere · 08/05/2019 10:13

They've hired two PR people apparently a man and a woman.

Agree that saying she was in labour when the baby was delivered was a bit messy.
