Any guesses on what Meghan will wear to introduce baby Sussex? I'm guessing Givenchy as it's her go-to designer for big events.

Then again she could surprise us all and come out in a JoJo Maman Bébé breastfeeding tunic!

The Times are confirming the story, at Windsor Castle with the original plan being two TV cameras, one photographer and one reporter. The late addition of a pool camera from CBS.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 08:41

Maybe they’ll have it in the green drawing room where they had their wedding photos. That would be a nice touch.

UrsulaPandress · 08/05/2019 08:41

Oh please let it be in one of the stables .....

crochetmonkey74 · 08/05/2019 08:42

I think I am being really thick- but in the paper today, Prince William has said he's an uncle for the second time- but who is his first nephew or niece then? I cannot work it out? Is it Zara's children?

funnystory · 08/05/2019 08:43

A full on photo shoot 2 days after the birth sounds like merry hell to me. I was in floods of tears at that point as hormones started to crash, breastfeeding was going terribly and I'd had a few days of no sleep under my belt and just felt and looked horrendous. I think I prefer the way Kate did it, a few quick pics on the hospital steps when you're still in that bubble of just giving birth and are amazed that you actually managed to do it and are amazed at your little bundle of joy, then home to get your PJs on and not have to worry about anyone else.

AhoyDelBoy · 08/05/2019 08:44

Pippa’s son

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 08:44

Pippa’s son, Arthur

UrsulaPandress · 08/05/2019 08:44

William is an Uncle to Pippa's son.

Took me a while to think about it ..

AhoyDelBoy · 08/05/2019 08:44

Snap Curly

Laniakea · 08/05/2019 08:44

Pippa has a child (little boy - Arthur maybe?).

AhoyDelBoy · 08/05/2019 08:44

And Ursula Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/05/2019 08:44

Whatever she wears she'll be sitting down, which is a lot easier than standing outside the hospital even for the shortest time.

I think it'll be a Hello type photo shoot, so I'm expecting she'll be very dolled up. She's pretty fit so she might well have snapped back into shape and want to show that off - who wouldn't?

Harry will be wearing the biggest grin throughout.

AhoyDelBoy · 08/05/2019 08:45

And Laniakea Crown

AhoyDelBoy · 08/05/2019 08:47

So it’s almost 8:50 in the UK, is the photo shoot today? If so I might stay up late for the photos Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 08:48

Kate is a traditionalist and much more aware of her place in history, so although the hospital steps photo shoot started with Anne & Diana, it provides a visual continuity. Hence dressing George like a toddler William at Charlotte’s christening, silver cross prom etc.

Harry and Meghan are the opposite. Doing things in their own, modern way. Obviously don’t feel the same constraints as they are not the heirs to the throne.

BertrandRussell · 08/05/2019 08:50

“Prince William has said he's an uncle for the second time- ”
Presumably Pippa’s child is his niece/nephew? Or don’t Royals have in-laws. Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 08:51

@ahoydelboy
I would imagine the shoot is in the morning but photos will be released in the afternoon. Presume they will need to approve the photos and edit the interview. My money is on the photos being released by about 2pm uk time; in time for the US breakfast news.

Daisypie · 08/05/2019 08:56

A bit unimpressed by the Gayle King CBS inclusion. Is Meghan rewarding her friends?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 08/05/2019 08:58

Unfortunately; that is the way it looks.

BertrandRussell · 08/05/2019 09:00

“A bit unimpressed by the Gayle King CBS inclusion.“

Any reason why? You have noticed that she’s American?

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:00

Piers Moron has written a column about how unimportant H&M are and how they need to "know their place".

There's no grapes like sour grapes, are there Piers?

Maybe just ensuring the baby's American side gets equal emphasis. They know they have a huge fan base there. I still think a move Stateside could be on the cards so it makes sense to pave the way. I agree with CurlyWurlyTwirly about the timings.

escapade1234 · 08/05/2019 09:05

She may be American but who pays for Palace Press office?

I think they handled the publicity surrounding the birth very badly in their determination to do things their own way. Announcing she was in labour 8 hours after she’d given birth is just pointless and smacks of game playing - not done well though. Nobody was going to scale the walls of the Portland or knock on the front door of Frogmore if they said earlier in the day that she was in labour.

Their baby IS a matter of public interest however much it pains them to admit it.

I read one journalist speculating the 1pm email saying she wasn’t in labour was done to coincide with the US morning news shows. Highly cynical move.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/05/2019 09:06

Gayle King has been a tv journalist/news anchor for over 30 years so she's a lot more than just Meghan's friend. I thought she was excellent in her recent interview with R Kelly where she remained calm and professional while he threw a mantrum.

The Times hasn't said that Gayle King will actually be there, just that a 'pool camera' from CBS has been added. Gayle King is the link with CBS though.
I don't know what 'position' CBS holds in US telly terms though.
Radio 2 just passed on the 'news' that the name will be announced this afternoon.
