Zara is killing it this SS!

I could have spent £1000 in Zara yesterday - I didn't, very restrained but everything was gorgeous and I never usually say that about Zara - can be very hit and miss. I'm worried I'm chanelling my old 20 something me as it's all cami bias cut slip dresses and Ghost style dresses and lovely baggy chambray trousers which remind me of Dash. And if I had a wedding to go to, which I don't, there are beautiful halterneck chiffon voluminous maxi dresses in vivid colours. Anyone else loving it?

Honestly, no. Zara is awful.

megrichardson · 04/05/2019 07:05

I'm really old and probably way out of their intended customer age range, but I have bought some lovely things from Zara over the years.

SinglePringle · 04/05/2019 07:05

I probably buy a few things every month from Zara. It’s a go to for me.

GreyTS · 04/05/2019 07:07

Yep, the last 5 or 6 items of clothing I've bought, all Zara and before that it was years since I had shopped there.

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 07:08

I'm loving this dress - effortless and could wear for day with white trainers too.

Are the fabrics nice?

GreyTS · 04/05/2019 07:11

Bought this skirt yesterday for DD2's communion, so lovely and so cheap

I do quite like Zara but find it often cut for the Spanish shape - small boobs and waist, quite pear shaped - which is not my shape. That dress for example so doesn’t work with boobs, unless you ‘re happy to have big ugly bra straps showing.

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 07:11

Love these trousers really thick chambray to suck tummy flat, roll up at ankle and can wear with heels and cami or trainers and shirt.

Was about to say Zara's built for the straight up and down but those pants are pretty universal

Ooh I love this. Could wear a strapless bra with it.

Instead I was sensible and got this day dress - major waist definition and the arms billow out making everything look smaller - feels so soft too.

Conversely I usually have Zara as a go to but came away empty handed and very underwhelmed yesterday

All clingy and floaty on the dress and skirt front and big chunky trousers that do nothing for my lack of waist.

I’ve struggled with it more and more and am really missing having somewhere for quirkier basics and work wear

Any other ideas? On line would be good too.

And pls don’t say Cos! (I actually felt like I was in fancy dress last time I tried on clothes there)

Stiffasaboard · 04/05/2019 07:19

That yellow silky dress you suggest for a wedding? Maybe if you are a 20 year old model but not many middle aged women with kids and a few lumpy areas can get away with that shape and fabric and the colour is really hard to wear too- def not one for an English rose complexion.

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 07:22

No, I tried it on, it's unbelievably flattering - I'm 47 and 5ft 4.

I did cave and buy this unsuitable but stunning top - no idea where going to where it but I don't care!!

I got this too - a bit different throw on jacket for school run rain in the summer - I love the shape, looks very avant garde and way more expensive than it was.

The day dress might work for me, but not a fan of the colours of the rest.

SinglePringle · 04/05/2019 07:32

stiffasaboard try Iris and Ink on The Outnet, Arkett, Me and Em and Essential Antwerp.

They are more expensive than Zara but good quality, more ‘timeless’ (but still current) and also do good sales.

fancynancyclancy · 04/05/2019 07:32

I love lots of what they have in at the moment but I think it’s because I was a 90s teen & it’s making me feel nostalgic (& old). Do struggle with the cut sometimes as I’m straight up & down but with boobs & I find they cut for small chests.

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 07:33

I hear you - pink can be tricky but I have strawberry blonde hair and feel like pink lifts me ( in my head!!) The asymmetric top also comes in a red and the jacket comes in a khaki and navy blue. I nearly got the green.

Just had a look at their website and they do have some nice dresses. Might pick up some for my holiday late in the year.

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 07:36

I know fancy, me too - more boob than hips here too but the cami shape is so flattering. I think that's why I love it all too - reminiscing but it all looks fresh and modern.

I find they cut for small chests.

I find that too. I tried on a gorgeous fitted dress which fitted everywhere perfectly except across the chest. Next size up was far too big.
