I could have spent £1000 in Zara yesterday - I didn't, very restrained but everything was gorgeous and I never usually say that about Zara - can be very hit and miss. I'm worried I'm chanelling my old 20 something me as it's all cami bias cut slip dresses and Ghost style dresses and lovely baggy chambray trousers which remind me of Dash. And if I had a wedding to go to, which I don't, there are beautiful halterneck chiffon voluminous maxi dresses in vivid colours. Anyone else loving it?

I tried quite a few things on last week, very disappointing when on, imo

The pretty dresses were all 100% polyester

The pink jacket was too short, and the cuff s too tight on my wrists (I have very skinny wrists btw!)

I liked the 90s vibe and got excited, but nothing looked good on. Nothing Sad

Bought some nice things in.H&M though

How do people manage with all white or pale clothing in real life?

Do you totally avoid food, drink, children, animals, public transport, park benches etc or carry a stain remover at all times?

englishdictionary · 04/05/2019 08:55

Zara’s sales are in the region of 500m a yr I believe (just in the UK).

500 MILLION Shock

I believe you believe incorrectly.

Elllllle · 04/05/2019 08:56

very disappointing when on sums up my Zara experience Grin

Speakeasy22 · 04/05/2019 08:57

Agree re the marketing speak.. unnatural. Could do better OP...

LaCerbiatta · 04/05/2019 08:58

PMSL at the OP advertising for Zara 🤣
Why do people feel the need to be rude?? Go back to AIBU where you belong!

Love the trousers and the jacket. Unfortunately didn't see them in the shop, spent ages there recently but in Portugal where it's really cheap ! Came out with lots of stuff though, mostly plain tops an trousers in black, which is what I like 😁

OhTheRoses · 04/05/2019 09:00

They had a beautiful cream blouse in the window so I went in and looked. Nowhere to be seen. Eventually found an assistant who helpfully said, out of stock. Shop was a mess and staff unhelpful. Also, up close, most things looked cheap. Shall not bother again. Even 20 yr old dd wrinkled her nose bit at stock and chaos

Gwenhwyfar · 04/05/2019 09:00

I get most of my basic tops from Zara, even though the quality is disappointing and some of the tops get holes in them after a year or two.
However, I don't like anything posted on this thread and don't like their dresses in general.
Like a pp I get dresses from Warehouse and also Oasis, though I find them a bit too expensive and have to wait for the sale. I'm not 100% happy with those either as they tend to go out from the waist if you see what I mean. It seems very difficult to find straight, fitted dresses. I suppose shift dresses are what I need.

fancynancyclancy · 04/05/2019 09:01

Although boosted by the the integration of online revenue, Zara sales grew by 17% to £704m in the year to 31 January 2018, as British shoppers continued to embrace its trend-led proposition. The sales boost helped the company post profits of £40.8m, up 33% from £30.6m a year earlier.

Its higher than I thought. I used to work in buying & merchandising. Zara & it’s owner Inditex have a huge market share. H&M probably still bigger though.

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 04/05/2019 09:02

I’ve always found great basics in there in Spain but never here as I just get overwhelmed by the mad stuff.

LaCerbiatta · 04/05/2019 09:02

Zara sales in the UK in 2018 were 704 million. They sure can employ a couple of mumsnetters to boost it up a bit 😂

Onecutefox · 04/05/2019 09:03

Never bought anything from Zara Confused

dimsum123

OP, do you work for Zara?!

JMAngel1

Of course I don't work for Zara!

Well, that's ok then. Obviously true and you have no connection at all.
However the items posted don't all look like they're for the same person to me. And the yellow ballgown for a wedding...? Who outside of people in Hello! go to weddings where that would be appropriate?
The only thing that makes me think that this might not be an advert is that it's so obvious. Surely Zara could employ better.

And I know not of this Hushista thing, but if it's been running ages I would think it's either:

  1. genuine. or
  2. not genuine but less clunky than this.

As to Zara itself, it's very hit or miss for me. I can go in lots of times and find nothing for me but some of my absolute favourite wardrobe items are from the rare occasions I've bought something from them.

cherryblossomgin · 04/05/2019 09:04

I looks like they only do a size 16 and below so I can't buy anything. This thread does feel like an advert

JMAngel1 · 04/05/2019 09:05

Once again, I am a simple NHS worker Mum who has no affiliation to Zara!!! They don't need me with those sales.

Most of the clothes are crap with the odd exception. Their homeware however is excellent. I just got some cotton bedding made in Spain and the quality is really good.

OhTheRoses · 04/05/2019 09:06

Can I just ask please why you think the mustard satin is just right for a wedding?

PamelaX · 04/05/2019 09:08

The photos just show that you might as well go to Primark, you find just as nice and same quality.

Zara used to be quite good, this season (and the last) is just crap.

PamelaX · 04/05/2019 09:09

that mustard gown would be better for a baby shower, it's the exact same tone as a runny dirty nappy

fancynancyclancy · 04/05/2019 09:09

How do people manage with all white or pale clothing in real life?

My rules are dresses or tops only. Not worn white jeans in yrs as always get stuff on them. Luckily I can walk to work & I keep my kids behind a glass screen so they can look but not touch!

Mumsnet is really not Zara’s target market, have you seen the comfy but attractive sandals thread! 😂

IdblowJonSnow · 04/05/2019 09:09

I do like some of their stuff, but, I'm a standard size 8 to 10 in all other shops and recently bought a pair of 'medium' sized trousers in there which were stretchy and can't get them, on never mind zipped up!!

PamelaX · 04/05/2019 09:11

Mumsnet is really not Zara’s target market, have you seen the comfy but attractive sandals thread!
Hmm

you do realise that MN is not one entity, and has readers from late teen to grand-mother's age, I don't think it's the same women who wear comfy sandals and boohoo micro-dresses

Ces6 · 04/05/2019 09:12

I find the quality to be terrible. I bought some pyjamas and they literally disintegrated within a month!

fancynancyclancy · 04/05/2019 09:13

Yeah their homeware is lovely & you can get good sale bargains.

Ellapaella · 04/05/2019 09:15

I think it's highly unlikely that Zara, a global fashion label would need to 'market' on mumsnet.

Zara is one of those places that I see people wearing something really nice, when I ask where they got it they say Zara, yet when I go in I can never find anything I like or that suits me. Sizing is also really bizarre so can't be arsed with ordering online.
It really doesn't seem so different to TopShop to be honest - just cheaper.
