Hate midi dress length, when will it go away?!

Midi length does nothing for me, it makes me look frumpy. The problem now is finding a dress or skirt which isn't 'midi'.

I guess midi must suit some people? I never seem to see anyone in midi length in real life though. I waaaay prefer juat above the knee. Or full length. Anything but midi!

Easy enough to take up hems. More difficult to let them down especially as most of them are rolled now. I think a lot of it is about how you style them to avoid the frump look.

MissParple · 29/04/2019 23:26

I love it. It's my favourite fashion trend in years. Long live the midi!

Bangingdoors · 29/04/2019 23:29

I love them too. What do you not like?
I still see a wider variety of dresses in other length than just midi available now.

FredaNerkk · 29/04/2019 23:31

I’m another one who loves midi dresses

Argeles · 30/04/2019 00:13

I hate midi length clothing too, and think the look is very difficult to carry off on most people. I wish it would go away.

Notinmyduty · 30/04/2019 00:31

I love it - not keen on my knees

Whatsnewpussyhat · 30/04/2019 00:36

I love midi length.
Hides the knees.

EugenesAxe · 30/04/2019 01:03

Yes I love midi - don't like showing my knees now I'm that bit older, but I am fairly tall, which helps carry midi off. I wish the sodding Empire line trend would piss off; with big boobs I just become all breast and no waist, unless the piece is fairly fitted, and floor length.

Redskyandrainbows67 · 30/04/2019 01:16

I’ll take away midi if you take away skinny jeans and Capri pants for me??

managedmis · 30/04/2019 01:44

I like midi length, find it flattering. I'm 5'5. Hate long length stuff as I feel it makes me look short.

Don't mind stuff knee length, much above the knee and I'm not keen.

scatteredglitter · 30/04/2019 04:02

I love it too! Perfect length for me :)
Sorry op

scatteredglitter · 30/04/2019 04:03

I love it too! Perfect length for me :)
Sorry op

Nenuco · 30/04/2019 05:21

Hate it too. Worst length on me.

OneThreadOnly0101 · 30/04/2019 06:00

As a 5ft 4 pear, I'm with you OP. It makes my not slender ankles look twice the size.

I don't want to be altering every dress I buy.

Maxi can also make me look like a barrel, but there's nought worse than the dreaded midi.

Don't get me started on culottes...

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 30/04/2019 06:02

I love the midi dress length.

cliquewhyohwhy · 30/04/2019 06:03

Another fan of the midi 👋

OneOfTheGrundys · 30/04/2019 06:07

Midi lover here. Makes for a convenient length summer dress for me as I am not blessed with attractive legs. Long skirts get in the way of everything.

AnotheChinHair · 30/04/2019 06:51

They don't work for me because I am short and carry a few extra pounds around my hips/thighs. Knee length works best for me but it's near impossible to find these days.

CherryPlum · 30/04/2019 06:58

Sounds like lots of people DO like midi then! I'm quite short so it's really unflattering on me. Makes me look like Dame Edna. I guess I can see how it could be good on taller people.

Madamedeluxe · 30/04/2019 06:59

It doesn’t suit me at all. I tried on a pleated midi length skirt and it was laughable.

stucknoue · 30/04/2019 07:01

I like midi dresses, I'm too old for mini dresses (hate wearing shorts underneath too) and maxi's are too long, I'm 5,6 but they make them for giants

AnyFucker · 30/04/2019 07:05

It suits me but I think it helps if you are tall

I don't like short because wrinkly knees and I don't like maxi because it makes me look like I am in full sail

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 30/04/2019 07:06

Midi suits me - tall and slim.

It's the boxy, shapeless cut which makes me look like a sack of spuds.

ExpletiveDelighted · 30/04/2019 07:14

I like them too (5'6), I find maxis are nearly always too long and are a tripping hazard going up stairs and I'm not keen on knee length, I feel a bit exposed in them when I sit down.

Floisme · 30/04/2019 07:26

Go away? It's barely started Grin

I prefer a longer length cos you can mess about with it, whereas with a short skirt there's nowhere to hide. I'm not keen on mid calf, unless it's with knee length boots, but I do like either immediately above the ankle (just short of maxi) or right below the knee. I'm 5'3.
