Any good new tubing mascaras?

I have a real issue with Mascara - hooded eyes and oily skin means to smudges really bad - waterproof ones are worse as they still smudge but then it doesn't easily wipe off when I'm out and about!
Tubing mascara is best for me, I've tried a few:
-NYX - ok but does not give me the volume I need, also starts to clump when it's been opened.

  • Estee Lauder double wear - still smudges by the end of the day!
  • Loreal Beauty tubes (the red and white one with the primer and black ends) - this is the best so far, volume and staying power wise - but I find it hard to apply and get spider lashes from it.

Any other suggestions? Any of the other loreal ones tubing?

Oh and I tried the Blinc one which is really expensive and I thought it was shite tbh. Nice brush but it's either a really thin formula or I bought a dodgy empty tube as it does nothing !

Clinique Lash Power is tubing. I’ve just started using it and have had no problems with smudging and clumping,

whitershadeofpale · 28/04/2019 19:57

I like the DHC one, it’s not amazingly thickening but better than the L’Oreal one. It’s great for day and I later it over a normal one for evening, like a sealant.

NigellaAwesome · 28/04/2019 20:03

Trish McEvoy does the best tubing mascara. Doesn't shift at all (and trust me, I have been dealing with a really shitty work situation and crying a LOT!) and then just washes off in tubes at the end of the day. £22.50 from Liberty, Selfridges or Harvey Nichols. I think you can also get it on Amazon.

MeMeMeYou · 28/04/2019 20:06

One on amazon by heroine it’s a Japanese brand and it does not budge not even in the shower. I think, but nit certain, it’s tubing. I may be wrong.but it’s great! Best off getting the same brand remover as it’s hard to get it off otherwise

I'm interested in the options too. I use No7 Stay Perfect tubing mascara. No smudges, stays on great throughout the day even through exercise classes/swimming. That being said, it doesn't give any volume which I presumed was just a downside to all tubing mascaras..?

FreeButtonBee · 28/04/2019 20:51

I have been faithful to Clinique for a while now. The variable one - can’t remember the name but you can have more or less mascara depedning on how you twist it

Interested in the trish mcevoy one though. That sounds great.

FreeButtonBee · 28/04/2019 20:53

Oh and the trick for evening volume is thin layer of tubing mascara, go crazy with a heavy layer of volumising mascara (I like benefit they’re real) and then careful layer of tubing I’ve rrhhe top to seal it in. But I only bother with this for big nights out. Too much faff for going to the pub!

Stuckforthefourthtime · 28/04/2019 20:57

Reading with interest! I also use the L'Oréal one, I find the issue is that it works really well for the first few weeks then sort of ages out. Does the Trish McEvoy one still work as well on week 6 as week 1? Because if so then I can justify the extra cost!

hugoagogo · 28/04/2019 21:11

What happens to the little tubes when you wash them off?
Is this something else to feel guilty about?

NigellaAwesome · 28/04/2019 21:27

Trish McEvoy works as well on week 26 as it does on week 1.

She does 2 types, volumising, and lash curling. It is exactly the same formula for both, the only difference is the wand on one has long bristles (lash curling), and short bristles for the volumising.

I should be on commission. Every time I go to London I come back with tonnes of the stuff for my sisters and colleagues.

I really like Eyeko Rock Out mascara

Stuckforthefourthtime · 28/04/2019 21:33

@NigellaAwesome but is it the tubes one? I fly a lot for work and have to arrive after a red eye and go straight to a meeting - I LOVE the tubes as they never smudge, so don't want a regular type...

NigellaAwesome · 28/04/2019 21:34

trish's mascara

Don't even get me started on her make up planners. I have 5 of them Blush and I love each of them.

NigellaAwesome · 28/04/2019 21:36

Stuckforthefourthtime yes, they are tubes. They don't budge at all, don't smudge, cry proof, and then wash off just with water and they come away in little rubbery tubes.

Nothing ever seems better than Clinique Lash Power to me.

I do like a really slim brush though and that’s a big part of why I’m loyal to it. Big teddy bear brushes just get on my skin or poke me in the eye when I try and get in towards the base of my lashes.

MrsLeBon2 · 29/04/2019 08:36

I have exactly the same problem and always, always ended up with a semicircle of mascara on my upper eyelids unless wearing tubing mascara. I then got a free rodial glamolash mascara with a magazine. I tried it assuming it would smudge really badly as it's not even waterproof but it's ace - gives great volume and length (my lashes are really short and thin and tubing mascara just doesn't give them any oomph) but there's been no smudging at all. It's expensive though but I'd recommend trying to get a free sample - it seems to get given away with magazines quite often.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 29/04/2019 08:40

I’ve been using the Clinique one for years too and I can get good volume and length from it, just need a few coats!

SlipperOrchid · 29/04/2019 08:57

I have tried a few and keep returning to the MAC one. Not because I particularly love it, but because I haven’t found better. The Japanese one was very good but thickened half way through and I had to buy it on eBay and was concerned about buying something for my eyes on eBay.

SlipperOrchid · 29/04/2019 08:58

How do you apply more than one coat of tubing mascara? Mine gardens and there is no way I could apply more than the initial coat.

Stuckforthefourthtime · 29/04/2019 09:30

@hugoagogo that's a really good point Confused

SlipperOrchid · 29/04/2019 10:41

*hardens not gardens!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/04/2019 10:56

Maybelline Collosal, yellow tube with mauve writing. Gives you false eyelashes in a sweep and comes off with warm water and a wash cloth, truly amazing stuff.
