Any good new tubing mascaras?

I have a real issue with Mascara - hooded eyes and oily skin means to smudges really bad - waterproof ones are worse as they still smudge but then it doesn't easily wipe off when I'm out and about!
Tubing mascara is best for me, I've tried a few:
-NYX - ok but does not give me the volume I need, also starts to clump when it's been opened.

  • Estee Lauder double wear - still smudges by the end of the day!
  • Loreal Beauty tubes (the red and white one with the primer and black ends) - this is the best so far, volume and staying power wise - but I find it hard to apply and get spider lashes from it.

Any other suggestions? Any of the other loreal ones tubing?

**and you can easily do two coats ,it feels just like a traditional mascara.

WellTidy · 29/04/2019 13:38

Benefit They're Real is a tubing mascara. It is the only one I ever buy now, I really rate it. No need to buy their special make up remover though, I find that it comes off fine with Loreal Micellar Water (but not all other micellar waters).

Benefit They're Real is a tubing mascara

Is it? I could have sworn it isn’t. Certainly when I used it, little tubes didn’t come off when I removed it (and it was harder to remove than my current tubing mascara). I had a quick Google and can’t see anything that says it’s tubing, but I may be wrong.

Stuckforthefourthtime · 29/04/2019 14:09

I don't think it is either GCAcademic. Also to me the benefit of the tubes is coming off with pure water, if it needs micellar water then to me it's a standard one...

whitershadeofpale · 29/04/2019 14:25

Benefit They're Real isn't a tubing mascara, it's good for volume but still smudges everywhere on me.

whitershadeofpale · 29/04/2019 14:29

Also I saw the Technic Mega Lash Volumising Waterproof Mascara recommended on another thread and gave it a punt as it's cheap. It's the worst mascara I've ever used, smudges everywhere and manages to be both watery and clumpy at the same time. Usually I use mascaras up even if I don't rate them but this one had to go straight in the bin.

whitershadeofpale · 29/04/2019 14:30

I also don't think Maybelline Colossal is tubing either.

Bojheybuddy · 29/04/2019 14:46

Maybelline Snapscara is tubing and is just good as the Kevyn Aucoin one imo

itsbetterthanabox · 29/04/2019 22:10

Maybelline Snapscara is a new tubing one. Fairly good. More thickening than others. Very cheap. Slightly flaky but better than most.
The most flake free one is the no7 stay perfect imo but it gives the least volume and looks the most plasticky on the lashes.
It's a toss up!

itsbetterthanabox · 29/04/2019 22:23

I've tried many more lol
I have greasy skin and straight lashes
.L'Oréal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara says it's tubing it's not! Smudges everywhere!
.Nyx doll eyes is ok but a bit flaky
.Revlon mega multiplier smudge proof is tubing and quite nice.
.loreal beauty tunes so flaky!

Lotsofsausage · 29/04/2019 22:24

they're real can't be tubing surely - I find it very oily and it smudges all over me. Having said that It gives the length and volume I like, perhaps I need to use that with a tubing on top to seal it !

Has anyone tried the Younique Epic mascara?
I’ve hrard good things but not sure if I want to splash out I have the ones on Amazon or even real.
Just realised I’m hijacking your thread op. Sorry

WellTidy · 29/04/2019 22:43

Ahem. Lots of previous threads saying that previous posters find Benefit THeyre Real to be a tubing mascara. Just one example here:

tubing mascara

It never smudges or runs on me.

Kummerspeck · 29/04/2019 23:05

Clinique Lash Power is the only one I've ever found to work

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/04/2019 23:10

Personally I wouldn't buy anything Younique after watching the BBC programme about MLM the other day. Over priced tat and shocking business tactics, there are plenty of other fab mascaras out there( for much less money too!)

Stuckforthefourthtime · 30/04/2019 14:08

Unfortunately they're definitely mistaken, I've used both and tubing ones are very different. They're Real still requires more than warm water to take off, and the key is in the name - it doesn't come off in tubes. The thread also mentions Estée Lauder doublewear - it's only their Zero Smudge version that is tubing.

FreeButtonBee · 30/04/2019 14:13

They're Real isn't tubing on me. It's a great mascara for volume but it both smudges like a bastard on me and is simultaneously is impossible to remove...

whitershadeofpale · 30/04/2019 15:41

I picked up Maybelline Snapscara on the basis if this thread. I can't say 100% if it's tubing yet as it seems a bit unclear online.

I put it on this morning though and it hasn't budged which is unheard of in a non-tubing mascara on me and gives good length and curl and the volume is as good as tubing gets. I'll let you know how it comes off and if it's definitely tubing.

It can be confusing as posters mean well but sometimes don't seem to know what a tubing mascara is. This isn't helped by companies often not being explicit either and just describing products as long wearing or smudge proof-If they're not tubing then they won't be on me!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/04/2019 15:47

I agree, I want it very clear on the packaging!

SlipperOrchid · 30/04/2019 15:56

I remember going to Debenhams looking for a tubing mascara and not one assistant I asked knew what I meant. The MAC assistants are the same. You really have to research the brands yourself and then go looking with the exact name and if possible photograph of the tube or they WILL try to convince you that any other mascara is the one you are looking for but the packaging has changed!!!

beanaseireann · 30/04/2019 20:50

I gave the variable Clinique one and it's very good.
Almost as good as Chanel Le Volume, which is not a tuning mascara.

BadlyDrawnBuoy · 30/04/2019 23:54

I use Kevyn Aucoin tubing - great stuff but ££. Sali Hughes did a column last year where she suggested eyelash primer followed by any tubing mascara. It’s still a spendy option though

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/fashion/2018/aug/18/best-volumising-mascaras-sali-hughes

Destinesia · 01/05/2019 00:29

I really like the Mac Extended Play Perm Me Up Mascara. Definitely a tubing mascara, I usually use the Clinique ones, nothing wrong with them and I've repeat purchased them but just wanted a change. Had a long chat with one of the Mac staff as she also only used tubing mascara, Beyonce's make-up artist uses this one apparently.

Somehow my lashes still feel flexible and much lighter with this one, whereas with all the others I've tried they feel quite stiff.

Also like the DHC one too.

TightPants · 01/05/2019 00:35

Another no vote for They’re Real.
Smudges like a bastard on me.

I use Clinique tubing mascaras (I was told that they’ve discontinued the variable mascara which is a shame) and have tried No.7 but not many others.
There’s an Eyko one I’m currently using that was in the M&S advent calendar last year and it’s brilliant. It dyes your lashes as well I think. Doesn’t budge either, great stuff.

SlipperOrchid · 01/05/2019 01:09

I use the MAC extended play one. I find it heavy and it doesn’t do a lot for my lashes other than darken them. As mine are light coloured and I have hooded lids, it works and it’s accessible to buy. II am on my fourth tube and tbh I wouldn’t rave about it or recommend it over another. The Mac assistants I but from don’t have a clue what I am asking for. Now I just ask for the ‘blue’ tube mascara. They inevitably ask me what I mean by tubing and always succeed in making me feel ancient when they exclaim they don’t know what it is.
