Smile at @Myimaginarycathasfleas

The baby will be forced to go to state school because Harry has married beneath himself.

The baby will go to a more expensive prep school than George because Meghan will want to upstage the Cambridges.

all rubbish of course.

Bisset · 24/04/2019 20:32

Why does it always seem to be the women who move into the Royal Family who get all the vitriol?

I was thinking this just today.

Mike Tindall/Jack Brooksbank? Absolutely nothing said. No trying to paint them as in competition with each other. Ok, a bit about Mike’s sporting shenanigans, but very little else

Just the women...

AnneEyhtMeyer · 24/04/2019 20:52

Reading some of these comments reminds me of my mother. She imagines what people will say and then it becomes "fact".

Paradyning · 24/04/2019 20:54

Prince William is trending on twitter....

Paradyning · 24/04/2019 20:57

Wonder what this could possibly be about

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/04/2019 20:58

Why what's he done or hasn't done?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/04/2019 20:59

William in to be the new Bond & Toby Young will be Nr Moneypenny? Grin
I'm off to have a peruse.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/04/2019 21:03

I thought William was trending because he's in NZ but people are talking about the Rose thing again. Not sure why, I thought that was old news and had blown over.

OP posts:
Paradyning · 24/04/2019 21:10

It looks like there's reports in the international press but blackout here. Allegedly. Unless people are just retweeting old news. It is suspicious though.

PinguDance · 24/04/2019 21:12

I think it would have been very hard for MM to grasp quite how much exposure she would get as a royal - her knowing about/having an interest in the royals from the US is one thing, fully understanding the ambivalent relationship the UK (ok maybe just England) has with the royal family quite another. Would she ever have known about, eg. Trooping the Colour or Christmas at Sandringham? Probably not.

Writing about W+K’s wedding is the most entry level, passing interest in the royal family. It’s like when I watch the World Cup final once every four years and that’s the extent of my football knowledge. She’s not British - tbh I just don’t see how she could really ‘get it’ and I don’t see why it should matter. There’s is only so much Harry could have said to try and convey the weirdness of being a high Profile British Royal. How do you explain - you belong to the British people now, sorry love.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/04/2019 21:18

Yawn it's that Rose rubbish.

mathanxiety · 24/04/2019 21:25

I agree with Becles about MM's treatment. It has been shameful.

Also with FogCutter about names. Eleanor would be a very nice combination of British regal history and more recent American history.
Rosa might be a possibility too - Princess Margaret's mn was Rose, but the civil rights connection might be too obvious.

I think Alice may be in with a chance too since Harry and William's charity focus is on mental health.

Also Doria, lovely name. Or Theodora, the name of one of Prince Philip's sisters.

Would Georgia be out of the question? Caroline? Lois?

How about Margarita/Margaret/ Marguerite? Philip had a sister Margarita and of course there was Princess Margaret, and the Queen Mum's full name included Marguerite.

Wrt the due date - all the children of W&K have had birthdays on or near birthdays of either my children or close family so I have reason to suspect the arrival of H&M's baby will be some time this week.
Wink

SenecaFalls · 24/04/2019 21:31

Wait I forgot Philip, he was too foreign & bossy according to the men in grey of the day.

My favorite story in that regard is the one where one of the men in gray was taking Philip on a tour of Windsor Castle, prior to his marriage, as a sort of rite of initiation, I suppose. Evidently the fellow kept going on and on about this and that until Philip silenced him finally with "Yes, I know. My mother was born here."

justasking111 · 24/04/2019 21:31

I think Georgina is a lovely name, been used by aristos in the past

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/04/2019 21:32

That is a fabulous put down Seneca

Notmyrealname855 · 24/04/2019 21:35

I know this is a sort of gossipy thread, but please can we stop

a) discussing completely speculative stories about MM, especially if they’re in People or the DM, even if it’s to rubbish them. Clearly they’re rubbish and it’s boring seeing them on this thread, and gives the stories oxygen to even mention them. That’s how those publications work - any mention of their stories, good or bad, encourages them.

b) likewise, for the same reasons, can we stop with the W&K stories. It honestly makes me sick seeing complete strangers speculate about someone else’s marriage - almost salivate over the thrill of the possibility of a scandal. It’s incredibly sad and fairly vile. Especially when three children are involved.

Sorry to rate a thread, but it’s not always what it used to be and I don’t come on here to see mention of the DM’s worst stories and rubbish on Twitter. I know of two other posters who’ve given up on this thread for similar reasons. Would be lovely to see more fashion posts and posts about the Royals’ actual activities...

Notmyrealname855 · 24/04/2019 21:37

(Also more Max posts :) )

SlipperOrchid · 24/04/2019 21:53

Notmyrealname

Why don’t you post some recent clothes so we can discuss them?

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/04/2019 22:14

There have been posts about fashion but Kate and Meghan have been MIA for a few weeks so no clothes to discuss there.

There hasn't been any speculation about W&K's marriage on this thread as far as I can see - just a mention that he was trending on Twitter which prompted a few of us to check why.

But naturally with a lull in the style stakes, baby Sussex is on a lot of posters' minds. I can't get too excited about what name they'll pick etc but am perfectly fine with others speculating!

I’m such a passive poster :)

Here are some Max hats! Check out her orange look - amazing!

She’s done some pretty crazy looks... www.redcarpet-fashionawards.com/category/blog/blog-celebrities/queen-maxima-of-the-netherlands/

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/04/2019 22:20

Looks like William's trip to NZ is only for 2 days. Guess he'll barely have time to feel jet lagged!

OP posts:
catofaragon · 24/04/2019 22:21

I came across this picture of Prince George, Duke of Kent. Uncle of the Queen and father of the current Duke of Kent and Prince Michael.

Does anyone else think Prince William looks like him?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PrinceGeorge,,DukeoffKent

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/04/2019 22:27

He really does, especially if you scroll down so his hair is covered! Now he was an interesting character...

OP posts:
catofaragon · 24/04/2019 22:32

I'd always assumed William looked like the Spencer side of the family but there's definitely a likeness. It's the mouth I think.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 24/04/2019 22:44

I'm not sure I can see it myself (but then I am generally a bit rubbish at spotting likeness). He does have those striking hooded eyes that all the older royal men had. They seem to have died out with the Queen as none of her sons have them.
