Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Ah, that's a lovely description MrsMoggs. Makes me want to try it!

Iambuffy · 25/04/2019 08:09

Sotd will be AT ACDD

1frenchfoodie · 25/04/2019 08:43

SOTD comme des garçons/monocle sugi, an amazing fresh, lemony cypress - that sadly doesn’t last long (EDT)

KaliforniaDreamz · 25/04/2019 12:54

great description Mrs i could feel the slight heartbeat skip one feels when something is over but you have hope for soemthing better... swoon...

maud so funny how scents are emotional. JM are watery, diluted pleasures. you needed something bigger and better.

sorry that sounds more perverse than intended....

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 25/04/2019 18:23

Grin Kalifornia - being with xh was definitely a very, very, very diluted pleasure!

SOTD was Habanita - glorious. But I got home to find my Roullier White order had arrived, so gave Queen of the Night by Grandiflora a whirl. A massive jasmine bomb, and it reminds me a lot of Nuit de Bakelite, even thought they appear to share no notes at all. Not for the fainthearted, but lovers of big white meaty florals will love it. And it's by the Master Duchaufour, so naturally it's very very classy indeed...

Sote Avon timeless

teta · 25/04/2019 20:39

La Chasse aux Papillon is Sotd.
I’m really enjoying the divorce stories.......perfume stories.
My Mb perfumes I think must be lost so I’ve messaged them. I’m a bit worried I’ve lost over £100 worth of perfumes and the company is closing. They only answer messages every 7 days as well [ shock]. Plus there’s no contact number or tracking number.
It’s so frustrating because I really wanted to order a bottle of India if I like the sample. And I love Patchouli Flowers so much.

Iambuffy · 25/04/2019 20:45

That's worrying teta :(

I'm waiting on an Avon perfume. Can't buy any more as next month we have to pay for our holiday and our anniversary party 😟

MrsMoggs · 25/04/2019 21:49

Yes, that is worrying/frustrating Teta - fingers crossed they turn up soon.

That's a very plausible hypothesis, Maud!

Mother - thanks for giving the P Bonnard show a mention - will try and get to it if it's on for a while.

SotD was Coromandel - end of year review, so needed to bring out the big guns Smile. Went OK. Smile.

New entry onto the swaps list - I've taken receipt today of a nearly full bottle of Les Notes de Lanvin II Oud & Rose. Blind buy - very pleasant but a soft powdery rose and a soft oud (a surprisingly gentle wood with not a hint of barnyard). Not what I was expecting, so will be moving it on on ebay unless anyone fancies a swap? It reminds me of something but I can't remember what it is (don't you hate that feeling?).

MotherOfDragonite · 25/04/2019 22:32

Only until the 6th of May, Mrs Moggs. But it's really wonderful and I would say it's worth going out of one's way for. Plus the interesting EDP to sniff on the way out through the gift shop!

teta, I'm sorry your MB stuff hasn't arrived. Mine said it was shipped on the 16th of April and arrived last Saturday if I remember correctly.

SOTD was two Sage Machado perfume oils layered together - Onyx and Pearl. I love them both, but I love them best together. They make me feel like I live by the sea in California, and maybe do yoga and also wear fairly traded organic cashmere or something.

MotherOfDragonite · 25/04/2019 22:34

Has anyone tried Verger by Miller Harris? I think it's discontinued but I've seen a reasonably priced bottle and I'm curious about real life experiences. I seem to like quite a few discontinued MH scents...

CountFosco · 25/04/2019 22:59

SotE Yardley April Violets. Met with lots of approval from the DDs as I read to them.

KaliforniaDreamz · 26/04/2019 10:00

Count i am going to buy that if i can find easily sounds lovely. maybe i am an old lady at heart. mind you i am nearly an old lady.....

I have tried most MH perfumes but not Verger, sorry Mother i too like all thier discontinued ones. However i think i have fallen out of love with them as they just don't have any lasting power at all.

I am going to try some more perfume parlour blind buys.... something leathery... quite fancy their green tweed (or something)

Happy Friday all x

MotherOfDragonite · 26/04/2019 10:15

SOTD is Centrepiece. I'm wondering if it's a bit too quirky for work (I sometimes meet people in a small room) but I do really enjoy wearing it. It's very multi-seasonal, isn't it!

Floof, haven't heard from you for a bit, how are you and the mini?

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 26/04/2019 12:17

SOTD MH Rose Silence. I am so pleased it's Friday. I think knowing everyone else had Monday off has made this week seem super-long!

teta · 26/04/2019 12:48

Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs is Sotd. The spicy nutmeg is just warming enough for a chilly spring day.
I’ve never tried Verger either Mother.

cantbelievemyeyes · 26/04/2019 12:54

Afternoon all- SOTD is Xerjoff Naxos. Really liking tobacco notes at the moment.

Planning on doing my first Bloom sample order. There are a couple of Strangers Parfumerie ones that look right up my street. Anyone tried any of these?

Iambuffy · 26/04/2019 13:11

I've not put perfume on yet!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 26/04/2019 13:23

Well get a move on Iambuffy Grin
SOTD is Floral Street London Poppy. I love this so much!

FloofyCatAndThePinkMingers · 26/04/2019 14:01

Mother thank you for asking, I have been reading (especially enjoyed the cake bit, mango sounded wonderful!) but mostly reading in hospitals this week - I'm not jinxing anything like I did on my last post by saying MiniFloof is recovering well but fingers crossed...

I'm still up for swapsies but can't bear to look at the state of my perfume drawer, I must tidy it when I have time and then offer anything I have going begging...

To add to my woes this week I ripped my newly arrived samples open and eagerly tried Floral Street Vanilla Orchid (foolishly straight onto skin) very keen to smell like a custard eating Barbie....well not only did it ming, I sprayed it near a healing tattoo, so it stung most horrifically and I can't scrub it off Why is the best longevity always on scents you hate?!

Also hated Chypre Sublime - I may have been biased after painful Barbie custard incident - but something very unpleasant, not bitter exactly but a strong note of something "off" maybe the geranium? On paper I should love this too Debating trying Neon Rose and the Iris one or just blacklisting Floral Street in a temper tbh...

Also disliked Kenzo World (this is one of the ubiquitous girls' changing rooms at school scents). Anything with the words mischievous and joyful in the blurb, can automatically fuck right off I think Hmm

The (Roger and Gallet?) Neroli was nice and pleasant but nothing more. Maybe I'm just in far too grumpy a mood to appreciate anything Grin

Teta how annoying your delivery hasn't come, my Feel Unique samples were late but I assumed it was Bank Holiday delays. So annoying when you're waiting for the postie (and not choosing a SOTD in case they arrive Grin) Did you pay via credit card?

Tracy I haven't joined the Perfume Society but all the boxes I have tried have been really interesting. Do it

SOTW has bizarrely been No.19 - disliked it when I tried it years ago but I keep seeing it as Judy's SOTD Smile so gave it another whirl and it's really grown on me. Good for this weather.

TFIFriday Perfumistas!

KaliforniaDreamz · 26/04/2019 14:05

sending you love floofy

SOTD Timeless - need the comfort.
Any Avon aficionados want to recommend other ones to try? (i have scrolled back on older threads but can't find the Avon info...)

Iambuffy · 26/04/2019 14:10

I like avon soft musk - haven't tried the flankers.
Also like little black dress weekend - there are lots of flankers for that too.
Velvet amber is nice if you're after comfort.
Imari is also nice - lots of flankers of that one too!
Avon are certainly following the high street trend there!

Iambuffy · 26/04/2019 14:14

Sotd AT ACDD

Iambuffy · 26/04/2019 14:59
