If you could only do one anti-ageing thing what would it be?

If you could only do one anti-ageing thing for your face (apart from sunscreen) what would it be? I am so overwhelmed by all the things I should be doing I want to know what people think are the absolute musts.

@Gwenhwyfar

I'm early thirties and have wrinkles, well actually they are lines. All my friends around my age and younger have. I think the previous poster may be thinking of wrinkles as the deep set ones, that change skin texture & shape iyswim.

MumUndone · 09/04/2019 08:43

Gwen I'm 36 and have forehead wrinkles, so if you're a monster so am I! Only on MN are there people at 38 who are completely line free.

Calloway · 09/04/2019 09:49

The eyes are such an important factor in communication. I can’t understand why people would want to shield them just to avoid a few lines. That seems incredibly vain to me.

This is so MN. Hand wringing because some people like to wear sunglasses to avoid the sun's glare.

'But how can you commuuuuuuuuunicate?'

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 10:07

I can assure you I am far from a 'hand-wringer.' I do like to chat to people though and I think it would be weird to do so when wearing sunglasses in winter Grin

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2019 10:23

Exercise.
www.nytimes.com/2018/11/21/well/move/regular-exercise-may-keep-your-body-30-years-younger.html

The muscles of older men and women who have exercised for decades are indistinguishable in many ways from those of healthy 25-year-olds. These men and women also had much higher aerobic capacities than most people their age, the study showed, making them biologically about 30 years younger than their chronological ages.

Palominoo · 09/04/2019 10:26

My sunglasses in winter also prevent me from the inherited and dreaded watery eyes.

Please give me the credit of having good manners of being able to lift the sunglasses up onto my head when speaking to someone.

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 10:36

But you said sunglasses were to avoid wrinkles? Is the sun really so strong in Wales?

RuffleCrow · 09/04/2019 10:43

Their muscles might be, youngee, but their joints are generally fucked.

RuffleCrow · 09/04/2019 10:44

*younger

KatharinaRosalie · 09/04/2019 10:45

Ah sorry missed the 'for face' part. Retinol then.

Calloway · 09/04/2019 10:48

I'm in Scotland and the winter sun in the morning can be very bright indeed. The Italians are surgically glued to their shades and they have no problem communicating, so I don't think you need to be overly concerned over a Wayfarer related breakdown in communication.

Honestly, the guff some people come out with.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 09/04/2019 10:50

Put the potions and lotions to one side.

Try to connect. With other people, with nature, with whatever it is in life that makes you feel vibrant.

Your face will thank you for it.

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 11:00

Guff? Grin

Alsohuman · 09/04/2019 11:08

So now we’re posers, vain and can’t communicate @Calloway. We’re a sad pair and all because we don’t like squinting. As you say - guff. Or my favourite word - bollocks.

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 11:15

The poster is in Wales. Not Italy. It seems beyond daft to me to never leave the house without sunglasses so you don’t get a couple of lines on your face but each to their own Smile

Palominoo · 09/04/2019 11:18

The sun isn’t the only thing to cause aging.

I walk/hike with my dogs every day in all weathers. Biting wind, rain as well as sunshine which believe it or not is all year round.

Sunglasses protect my eyes as well as the skin around my eyes and at almost 53 I personally feel that y wearing sunglasses all year round has helped considerably in my appearance of being less wrinkled as well as help prevent my eyes from watering.

If I stop to chat I raise my sunglasses and turn away from the sun.

Obviously this isn’t good enough for some of you so I shall take to carrying a couple of small flags out with me so that I can communicate via semaphore in case anyone I talk to is beduddled by my sunglasses and unable to see my lips move.

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 11:21

The flags are a great idea. You should really do that.

Calloway · 09/04/2019 11:21

Is she still bleating on about sunglasses?

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 11:22
Grin
Calloway · 09/04/2019 11:23

The poster is in Wales. Not Italy.

My point was that your concern that sunglasses impede communication doesn't make any sense seeing as Italians wear them all the time and have no problemo communicatingo. They seem to communicate more than any other people.

Alsohuman · 09/04/2019 11:26

Yep, still going. I had no idea my Raybans were so contentious and offensive.

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 09/04/2019 11:32

LOL I was hoping to come on here and find a singular magic solution to the slight lines I am beginning to get on my forehead.

Palominoo · 09/04/2019 11:38

I must apologise.

I’ve conducted a test and placed a pair of sunglasses atop my Pug.

I’ve asked him to recite ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling and to my shock I couldn’t understand him at all.

You learn something new every day

If you could only do one anti-ageing thing what would it be?
Alsohuman · 09/04/2019 11:39

🤣

Calloway · 09/04/2019 11:41

Oh he looks so handsome with his fatty boy neck rolls, snaggly teeth and rock n roll air of general fuckoffery! Grin
