If you could only do one anti-ageing thing what would it be?

If you could only do one anti-ageing thing for your face (apart from sunscreen) what would it be? I am so overwhelmed by all the things I should be doing I want to know what people think are the absolute musts.

It’s a beauty star one, I chose the one with the best reviews.

SimonJT · 08/04/2019 07:03

I would make sure I don’t go bald/thin, I had an odd shaped head, being bald on me would look awful.

TheFuckfaceWhisperer · 08/04/2019 07:19

I would make sure I don’t go bald/thin

I didn't actually realise balding was a choice...

plotmissinginaction · 08/04/2019 08:54

Thanks Fluffy, it’s made a difference then? Everything is just so expensive. Botox, fillers, that nu face thing. I need a rich benefactor.

Well there are two things that wreck your skin No 1 smoking and 2 sun damage.

Alsohuman · 08/04/2019 10:16

If going bald was a matter of choice I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be any bald people.

Recently gave up moisturizing creams. Instead exfoliating and using hyaluronic acid serum. Took a couple of weeks to adjust but what a transformation. Smile

Yoga.

ShirleyPhallus · 08/04/2019 12:35

Place marking for this retinol stuff

PinkLipsDontLie · 08/04/2019 14:51

Botox. Does what 101 creams can't.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/04/2019 19:54

I think so.

winbinin · 08/04/2019 20:27

Botox and sunblock are equally important to me. When I had my first botox the doctor was very matter of fact. She said straight out that unless I could commit to using SPF 50 on my face every day I would be wasting my money to have the botox.

"When I moved from London to Wales I got a lot of odd looks at wearing sunglasses in the winter as not many people here do"

People who wear sunglasses in winter are either posers or Italians in my experience. I didn't know it was usual in London.

Alsohuman · 08/04/2019 20:36

I must be a poser then because, sadly, I’m not Italian. My Greek friend wears them in winter, though, does that count?

Gwenhwyfar · 08/04/2019 20:40

I've known Italians wear them at night. When I asked one of them why, he said it was to keep his hair in place!

Alsohuman · 08/04/2019 20:42

Even I don’t wear them at night. But I wear them whenever the sun shines which it surprisingly does in the winter.

Calloway · 08/04/2019 20:46

I often wear sunglasses on winter mornings when the sun is glaring. Doesn't matter if it's cold or not.

Alsohuman · 08/04/2019 20:50

So glad I’m not the only poser. I just don’t like squinting.

Delatron · 08/04/2019 21:16

Yes 38 is young so you wouldn’t expect to have wrinkles then. Ageing really ramps up mid 40s.

I wear spf every day of the year. It’s the incremental (walking around outside from time to time) damage that builds up. Plus UVA penetrates windows. I also reapply in the afternoon.

After that, retinol...

MsChicken · 09/04/2019 02:17

Yes to exfoliating MsMcMurphy. We're too gentle with our skin. It responds well to a bit of tough love. I use Retinol at night and SPF during the day but the rest of the swanky moisturiser collection worthy of a shop window display is now gone. I've never used handcream in my life and I have hands that look twenty years younger than my face.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/04/2019 08:01

"Yes 38 is young so you wouldn’t expect to have wrinkles then."

Are you saying I'm some kind of monster? I had wrinkles on my forehead and around my eyes from late twenties. Then in the thirties the 11s, the lines between nose and mouth and around mouth, eye wrinkles get deeper. Now in early 40s all of those are more prominent.
People tell me I look younger than my age as well so no wrinkles at 38 sounds like a miracle to me.

Bowchicawowow · 09/04/2019 08:05

The eyes are such an important factor in communication. I can’t understand why people would want to shield them just to avoid a few lines. That seems incredibly vain to me.

MorrisZapp · 09/04/2019 08:08

I've been a sun worshipper all my life. I laugh in the face of spf unless on actual holiday.

It's only just catching up with me now at age 47, and I still have better skin than my friends.

I'm going to start using spf on my neck this summer but I just don't like the feel of it on my face.

I quite like the idea of a sun worn face, to show for the rare hours of sunshine we get here in Scotland.

SelkieRinnNaMara · 09/04/2019 08:19

Yes clinique do a good exfoliator but i think it is going to be distontinued (microbeads)

Enjoy life. Be happy. Go out in the sun.

Watch the years fade away.
