I give you...soft soles and lovely leather, flattering on the ankle and not too frumpy!

My most comfortable sandals come from Moshulu. There, I’ve said it.

XingMing · 01/04/2019 19:57

They are black! That makes them a definite no in summer sandals. Almost any other colour, but I don't buy black shoes.

bluebellation · 01/04/2019 19:58

The trouble with a lot of the comfy styles around is that they might look great on someone in their 20s or 30s but on someone in their 60s (me) they just look frumpy. It's as if the youngsters are wearing them ironically whereas I have to wear them because my old feet are knackered. Not fair Grin

I just bought a pair of these in Silver, sandals tend to kill my feet but so far they’re comfortable. Haven’t ventured out of the house in them though, still wearing them in!

Alwayscheerful · 01/04/2019 20:01

They also come in Tan but it's not a good tan more like a pale faded tan.

JaneEyre07 · 01/04/2019 20:03

Keen are really good for sandals, I've had several pairs that last well and are comfy from the word go. Just even looking at Saltwaters makes my feet ache.

I've had lots of Ecco too over the years, find they last well.

I like them, OP.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 01/04/2019 20:06

I can't even look at an ankle strap without my bony, nobbly ankle bones feeling red and raw from rubbing

NoParticularPattern · 01/04/2019 20:10

Oh they’d make my legs look all stumpy, sorry! Although I’m jealous that you’ve found your sandal holy grail. My sandal holy grail are the Birkenstock Relax sandals. Which they don’t sodding make any more. I have a pair of their ordinary single strap but because the strap on those comes from the outside of the footbed rather than the inside like the Relax ones they’re just not as comfortable. I’ve tried breaking them in, I’ve worn them until they’ve given me blisters in fact! But I just cannot get them to be as instantly comfortable as the Relax ones are. Which means I have to stick to my two knackered pairs (and I mean knackered!) because they don’t exist to buy now 😫😫😫

Hellenbackagen · 01/04/2019 20:11

seriously google earth spirit sandals - some are hideous but others are really nice with beads and jewels - the soles are springy and they are around £40 . i now have 3 or 4 pairs of similar ones - quite hippy looking with the jewels or beads but like walking on air.

alphaechokiwi · 01/04/2019 20:20

Sorry, meant to add, don't make my legs look too dumpy, despite my cankles

myidentitymycrisis · 01/04/2019 22:18

Beer
Re narrow feet sandals - Mine are narrow and I have to find a style with lots of adjustable straps, preferably around the heel and one or two on top. A toe loop is good too. Can’t wear toe post / flip flops my feet slide forward and the post rubs unless they have an extra bar higher up. Can’t wear those menorca types as my narrow heel the back strap just falls off.
Miracle of miracles I found a black mule like a one bar Birkenstock in a neoprene type material in Primark last year and it sticks /moulds to my foot. Best 3£ spent for ages.

Rant over

Solasum · 01/04/2019 22:24

Any recommendations for ugly bunioned feet that are not super grannyish?

Tunnockswafer · 01/04/2019 22:56

Solasum so you want to cover up your toes? What about a Birkenstock clog - here’s a wee golden one. (Disclaimer I am a massive Birkenstock convert) www.birkenstock.com/gb/boston-suede-leather/boston-washedmetallicleather-suedeleather-0-eva-w.html?dwvar_boston-washedmetallicleather-suedeleather-0-eva-w_color=716

Solasum · 01/04/2019 23:25

It is the bumpy bit more than all the toes I want to cover. It makes lots of shoes impractical. Do clogs slip off, or are they fairly firmly stuck?

Sullensilence · 01/04/2019 23:32

I am stumpy of leg and wide of foot and I still wear saltwaters - I hit my 30s and just thought to hell with avoiding ankle straps etc I want them! So glad I bought them and actually I get a lot
Of compliments despite my coven hooves.

I’d love to see a picture of those sandals on OP I often find that style don’t look much without a foot in them!

JaceLancs · 01/04/2019 23:45

I wouldn’t suit the ankle strap on these
I’ve just bought some suede TOMS as am over Skechers
Found a bargain pair of Aldo sandals in tkmaxx so shouldn’t need any summer footwear

thefirstmrsdewinter · 02/04/2019 01:10

Thanksso me too, the wasabi ones. I was so grateful they didn't cut my feet to ribbons I might get a tan pair. Are they meant to be terribly frumpy?

WinterHeatWave · 02/04/2019 02:02

Another vote for Earth Spirit. Not all are beaded.
They survived a year of continuous wear - I live somewhere hot and they usually get worn 11 months of the year.
Naturalista (i think) were also comfy, but twice the price, and lasted half the time. If you don't abuse them like me, might be worth a look.

Alicewond · 02/04/2019 02:05

I accidentally read this as scandal so was a bit disappointed 😂

Tunnockswafer · 02/04/2019 12:00

Went to Clark’s today off the back of this thread but they didn’t have half the ones in that I’ve seen online!

goose1964 · 02/04/2019 16:27

I never get ankle straps to do up around my ankles. This year I'm wearing my black iridescent snake skin gizehs and some navy wedges that I bought last summer.

BackinTimeforBeer · 02/04/2019 16:50

You guys are starting to make me think I have a narrow ankle, just measured 9inches and apparently the average is 11inches - who knew?

OP posts:
Fresta · 02/04/2019 18:59

I like them OP - I think an ankle strap can be quite flattering- it actually breaks up a solid looking leg and makes it look less trunk-like

Thankssomuch · 02/04/2019 19:02

thefirstMrs Moshulu are a bit frumpy tbh, but some days, I’m afraid I just don’t care #turningintomymother
