I give you...soft soles and lovely leather, flattering on the ankle and not too frumpy!

I was expecting the Dune ones to be something fabulous but they are horrendous! Sorry, they really are awful.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 11:58

They're very 'cruisewear.'

Fresta · 07/04/2019 12:01

You lot obviously live in a parallel universe to mine- just bought these for for my holidays- in my opinion they are comfy enough for a bit of sight seeing and pretty enough for the evening. www.modainpelle.com/sandals-c29/flat-sandals-c50/hetty-silver-leather-p3497

Fresta · 07/04/2019 12:14

Actually- it's these Dune ones I own not the first (they are a bit similar) - but mine are gold not nude. I don't think they have this style on the Dune website anymore because they were last years style.

Hard, flat soles are not remotely comfortable for anyone with any issues with their feet. If you don’t have any such issues, why not thank your lucky stars instead of assuming that those who do have had a style bypass.

Fresta · 07/04/2019 13:31

Actually, the evidence is that a thin flexible sole is the best for healthy feet- padded, cushioned soles with too much arch support allow the feet to become weak and the natural arch to collapse.

BackinTimeforBeer · 07/04/2019 13:40

@Fresta those sandals look fine, don't understand the extreme reactions to them but they are not leather...I think you are very lucky if you can wear those sandals comfortably and have issues with your feet.

I bought the Next sandals linked by @Ruddypeg, tried them out yesterday and they’re pretty comfortable Smile

Mentalray · 07/04/2019 16:21

How do the ankle straps not rub everyone's ankles? I tried ones like that in the past and ended up with bloody ankles.

MotherofTerriers · 07/04/2019 16:29

Another vote for earth spirit. The only sandals which don’t blister my feet. Often reduced in tkmaxx too

Mentalray · 07/04/2019 16:31

I've done the ugly clarks to death now. thinking of switching to just plain cheap flitflops for short excursions and sporty tevas for longer

Quertymcquerty · 07/04/2019 16:44

Fitflops were the only shoe that helped my fallen arches, caused by years of wearing flat sandals. I also bought some sandals from John Lewis that are so comfortable, I bought three pairs in a panic that I would never find anything like them again.
I am sure people would find them fugly too but I thought they were quite nice. They were in the ‘designed for comfort’ range. Not on their site for me to link.

Tunnockswafer · 07/04/2019 17:03

Fresta you can’t take a sore foot and stick it in that though which is my point - the shape of your arches is to an extent something you are born with and my podiatrist has certainly not recommended wearing flat sandals.

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/04/2019 18:34

@TheWashingMachine Camper do have some truly fugly sandals but I really like these

Tortadella those are the ones I have. They're a bit like Saltwater sandals but with a squishy sole. Lunge the only thing I don't love about them is that they start a little wide, and they stretch.

GimmeBread · 07/04/2019 19:36

11" ankle is average?!

I just measured my entire family

Me: 8"
DD21: 7.5"
DH: 8.5" although he does have incredibly skinny ankles!

And I'm not exactly thin.

GimmeBread · 07/04/2019 19:39

These are my favourite and comfiest sandal. Pretty, stylish and comfy

BackinTimeforBeer · 07/04/2019 19:55

@Gimmebread And I'm not exactly thin. You must know that people gain weight in different areas - so skinny ankles or skinny any part of your body is not conclusive proof of being skinny all over as you've pointed out - you are not thin! I have a narrow waist but but boobs and hips - my wrists and ankles are rarely affected by weight gain or loss.

I don't like them. Would give cankles.

Lungelady · 08/04/2019 12:33

My Moshalu wasabi have arrived. Perfect fit for my narrow size 9s. Just got to decide which colour

thefirstmrsdewinter · 08/04/2019 13:08

Lunge ooh, thanks for that. Maybe they're making them a little narrower now, in which case I'll get the tan ones.

WellTidy · 08/04/2019 13:55

The Moshulu Wasabu sandals linked to upthread by Torta are brilliant for me and my bunions. I also need a bit of padding/comfort underfoot.
