Not. I bought the Panama in the smallest size and its a little on the tight side but not enough for me to return as I think the next size will be too loose and slip off like every other hat I try on.

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 19:41

Not Panama is true to size as its proper hat measurements just measure around where the brim would be on your head ..

Another good place is Village Hats( we love hats and both DH and I have had hats from them before) This one is a good price but beware, the cheaper panamas will be made of paper 'straw' and not the real stuff .. (ok if they are never likely to get at all damp..)

Hovercraft back not so bumpy..Len MY sea legs are fine, although bike legs (and shoulders arms) a bit achy today, Ill go out on it again tomorrow evening.

Day ! 0f diet and I had a small prawn salad with DF for lunch ( home made mainly veggies and no bread /..I didnt have breakfast ,except my black coffee i cant live without , but often dont , .. This evening,I had a delightful ( it was actually!) mix of left over h/m fish pie, and left over h/m salmon curry! both v small portions , but I can never bear to throw food away....

.. Popped into Sainsburys on the way home as they have good deals on fresh salmon atm and have stocked up the freezer , also got some reduced turkey breast steaks..

I found when doing this 800 cal diet before that if i ate a piece of salmon or grilled meat, with a big plate of veggies cooked or drizzled with olive oil , that was really good and I wasn't hungry at all .. I often had scrambled eggs for a late brunch (made with butter), and something like a small bowl of Greek yog and raspberries or blueberries if i wanted something else lunchtime or later .. I'm really happy eating like that , (a couple of squares of v, dark chocolate are allowed occasionally also, but you shouldnt eat more !)

Tbh I found it worked best if you gave up Wine or only had some at the weekends..

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 19:42

The panama I just linked to from Village hats is proper straw btw..

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 19:53

If i remember there is also a great stuffed portobello mushroom recipe (with cannelloni beans parsley and chorizo) in the BSD book also , I loved that and so did DH (in fact ill make that later this week)

ilovecherries · 15/04/2019 19:55

We had Shepherd’s pie made with cauliflower mash, with long stem brocilli. It was really nice. Lunch was avocado and walnut salad. Back on 16:8.

dontcallmelen · 15/04/2019 20:02

Laska mushroom recipe sounds lovely, can you post it if you have a moment thanks.
I really need to find some new stuff to cook, it’s hard though as Dh hates vegetables unless they are hidden I really dislike curry’s or anything in a creamy sauce/melted cheese, I don’t eat fish & Dh won’t eat seafood, so its all very samey here at chez Len.

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 20:08

Hmm... Len I cant find it in the book ! Maybe it was one of my made up recipes , ill have a look..

dontcallmelen · 15/04/2019 20:20

Thanks Laska I always love the sound of the meals you post, I have bit of an odd relationship with food I think, I don’t have much of an appetite a lot of the time (side effects of meds) & texture of food is a thing for me, I can’t eat mashed potatoes/yogurt/gravy I don’t eat a lot of meat either & could quite happily live on sandwiches or cheese.
Which is not very healthy or varied.

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 20:59

So annoying ! I cant find it Len but I know what i did ...

Basically it was an onion chopped finely and sweated down in some olive oil with a few chunks of chopped chorizo and garlic along with the stalks of 4 big portobello mushrooms. Then a tin of white beans crushed up( 240g drained tin) , some smoked paprika and some chopped parsley chucked in.

Then made a basic tomato sauce ( just tomatoes oil and garlic)

Put a layer of the tomato sauce in the bottom of a dish that can go in the oven, on top put the 4 portobellos and spoon in the bean mix. (I would put in chill flakes also). Crumble over a little feta cheese , and bake until mushrooms cooked through - prob about 30/40 mins at 180/200c. Take the foil off at the end and drizzle with a little more oil and whack under the grill to get a nice brown top . Sprinkle with more parsley ..

Serve with green salad.. and LeYum!.. I calorie counted it on Myfitnesspal to about 550 cals each serving ( That's 2 mushers each ..) Smile

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 21:01

..of course you dont have to crush up the beans, if its a texture thing, Len . It will taste the same!

NotAnActualSheep · 15/04/2019 21:06

Thanks granny and laska ! I've just tried measuring my head and it seems to be somewhere between 58 and 59 cm, so I'd prob go for the largest one. (I remember now that I was once told I (and DH) had an abnormally large head by a doctor, wondering why DS had one...) That village hat site is good for a browse too, thanks! Though as is usually the case, once I've set my heart on something hushy, nothing cheaper else will do... I think its the two woven bands I like.

gin cunning plan on the boots! Kind of reward boots...

Yummy sounding food 😋 Except now I'm craving yogurt and berries and I don't have any (and have also just had dinner). I'm going to do grilled veggies for lunch tomorrow I think. I get in a bit of a sandwich-based rut for lunch, which is silly, as I'm at home and have the full run of the kitchen... But I still eat as if I need to make myself a packed lunch. Apparently my subconscious loves a routine...

NotAnActualSheep · 15/04/2019 21:11

Oh wow.. That mushroom thing sounds delicious (sans chorizo but with capers or more chilli would prob work for us veggies). Giving that a go... And also we're trying to make a start on getting though our brexit stockpiles of tins of beans (on the assumption it seems to have gone off the boil a bit..and we can restock if needed) so this would be a good way of using them.

Laska2Meryls · 15/04/2019 21:21

Or/And black olives/sundried tomatoes in the stuffing Not -they would have the right kind of salty/savoury flavour .. I might try that myself, next time ) I'm def making these on Thursday or Friday when DH is back..

have to go into office tomorrow, ..so going to get sorted for tomorrow ( and bed Brew.. )

justilou1 · 16/04/2019 03:40

Those mushies sound amazing! Am contemplating swapping out the beans (Although I love them, too many carbs) for cauliflower (will risk the methane) and chuck in some chili and capers. Suspect even DH would love it. (Wonder if I could get away with hiding some aubergine??? Perhaps pushing my luck there!)

One of my favourite low-carb recipes is Shakshuka - which is great for breakfast or supper, and can be adapted to suit numbers and tastes!

You basically sauté onions, garlic, tomatoes, peppers (the more colors the better) in some olive oil until they’re soft. I add aubergine if I have it, or sometimes beetroot for the antioxidants, but that is definitely going off-piste. Then some ground cumin and coriander to taste, and chili (dried or fresh) if you are a fan. Make a well in the middle and pop in an egg or two to poach in the centre. Add some blobs of Persian feta or chèvre. Then just before serving, sprinkle with some finely chopped fresh herbs - I like mint, dill and parsley. Coriander is great too, but it’s controversial! This dish is delicious served with a squeeze of lemon juice just prior to eating.
Serve with any bread you like for carb-addicts, but it’s tasty and filling without.

justilou1 · 16/04/2019 03:43

Ooooh! Lid on when you pop the eggs in!

Laska2Meryls · 16/04/2019 07:12

I saw this thread this morning which may be useful for us Husista dieters to poo into ...BSD fast800 thread.. Good first post for overview

Also this recipe and meal planner thread

Laska2Meryls · 16/04/2019 07:18

I love Shakshuka justilou ..

dontcallmelen · 16/04/2019 07:37

Laska many thanks for the recipe, it’s nice & easy as well I’m not the worlds greatest cook so even I can put that together, I think because I’m not that interested in food I don’t really enjoy cooking that much.
Will have a look at the links as well, definitely in need of a food shake up here.
just that sounds delicious as well.

Laska2Meryls · 16/04/2019 09:51

Ok finally stopped dithering, tried on both the Moritz again this morning ( when of course I'm thinnest ! And the 10 do up and zip up and with not too much of a struggle ! ) . It's only around the waist that is a bit tight, everywher else fine .And the 12 are loose, 12 going back , it's a leap of faith in the diet . Also mysteriously am 3lbs down from yesterday, perhaps a blip, but hopefully it was yesterday that was the blip!) ..

twosoups1972 · 16/04/2019 10:30

Will catch up properly later but just wanted to say hi. Have been busy with the dds over the school holidays. Hope everyone is well x

SoyYo · 16/04/2019 10:54

Hello I’m having a half hour break from calls which started at 8am 😩I’m not very good thinking at 8am...
Great tips and recipes.
I still have to read the books which arrived yesterday but no chance to even open...I’m leaving home at 6am tomorrow for París so will take with me and peruse on Eurostar journey...Although I haven’t started it “properly” yet yesterday I was good and made one of my usual veggie dinners: spicy brown rice and beans which boys had with veggie burgers, DH with a bought pie and me with small piece of baked salmon.
Lunch was salad/tuna with a bit of cous cous. I suspect all this is super healthy but still too high carb so will try harder once I’ve looked at the diet books...

SoyYo · 16/04/2019 11:42

Also...i reordered the Kiera sale culottes in a 10 and so glad I did! They’re fine and I think look much better than the 12’s, plus it will not render them useless if I lose weight.
Also the stripe wide trousers beloved by @cherries which are just a little bit long on me but nothing a “shrinking” wash won’t fix. These are also a 10 and now I’m returning the other navy blue widelegs as really bargainous but honestly too big in a 12.
I’m happy now and think I’ll wear the Kiera culottes to Paris tomorrow

The white mark on the pic is my conservatory mirror that needs cleaning not the fabric Blush
Now I’m still thinking of trying that starry leather biker, only 10 in stock...please talk me out of it since I’ve received my BA refund for the returned Muubaa blue leather jacket...Hmm

ilovecherries · 16/04/2019 12:01

I’ve got my BA refund as well. Pretty impressed with that actually, I had expected weeks. So BA and Warehouse both get a ✅ from me for super fast returns.

ilovecherries · 16/04/2019 12:05

I tried a triumph Doreen 😱 today in Debenhams in the hope I could ease out of my surgical bras and get at least a modicum of shape, but not to be. Far too sensitive still, and still too firm and rigid for any scooping to be happening so I just looked weird. Back in my trusty surgical compression bra.
