Should I get my lips filled?

I have always had thin lips but now they’ve disappeared into a Resting Cat’s Bum Face. I’d love to get them filled but I’m too scared of getting a trout pout.

Has anyone got any advice or any recommendations ie
Hyaluaronic fillers? Dentist or beauty practitioner?

Thanks.

Are there any lip products that can be used instead?
Lip fillers were designed for naturally full lips that have lost volume due to age. That's why they don't look good on thin lips.

Swiftier · 18/03/2019 22:16

If you do get them done, definitely worth doing research and visiting someone on an Accredited Register - anyone can offer fillers and may not have appropriate training, use the correct materials and offer good aftercare, but if you visit someone on a Register they should.

I've had lip fillers and definitely don't have a trout pout. If you go for it just have 0.5ml and see what you think. They disappear after a few months any way.

Make sure you can see examples of their work before you get it done.

Perhaps there are other things you can do aside from lip fillers. Book some consultations. I have had restalyne, a HA filler, to lift the corners of my mouth, and botox to flip my top lip, it’s all so subtle it looks natural and no one knows. I just look fresh. My husband hasn’t even noticed, he just comments that I look less tired.

Look up 'lip flip'

Thank you very much for your replies. I didn’t know that info about fillers being used for previously full lips. Thanks for the links!

Have fillers, I did & mine look amazing, I actually used the lady that did my daughters, she had naturally thin lips & the filler has made them look great, she was beautiful anyway but now even more so. Look at Michelle Keegan before & after photos, she had thin lips & looks great too.

HugoBearsMummy · 19/03/2019 10:47

Yes yes do it! I had mine done last March and they are still much plumper than before- getting them topped up next month. I had Juverderm Volift last time but the lady I go to have just changed to Juvederm Smile so I'll be having that this time. The only time mine looked trout pouty was 24 hrs after treatment. Then they were full but subtle. Just do your research on whoever you go to , look at photos of their work or if possible go to someone who has done work on your friends that you have been impressed with- that's what I did. Good luck x

I had 0.5mil and loved them. I’m due a top up as thin lips are back!

Motherofcreek · 19/03/2019 10:50

Be aware though it ducking hurts!

JudgeRindersMinder · 19/03/2019 10:53

Anyone who says they don’t have a trout pout is very happily ensconced in their own wee world, which is a good place to be, but don’t be in any doubt that that world can tell at 20 paces that you’ve had fillers, and there is always an element of trout pout

CookPassBabtridge · 19/03/2019 11:05

Just keep it subtle. A few people I know got the first lot and looked good, it's subtle but effective. They then get the bug and have another go not long after and it's trout pouts all over the shop.

RockyFlintstone · 19/03/2019 11:08

I think lip fillers can look good when done subtly. However, pretty much everyone who gets them done seems to get addicted or something and gets more and more until they are in trout pout territory. It's especially unsettling when you haven't seen them in a while!

HugoBearsMummy · 19/03/2019 12:14

On my wedding day 1 month after having fillers. So you could tell I'd had lip fillers from 20 paces and I look like I have a trout pout do I? I think not. Very judgey comment. As long as you as for a subtle look, I had 1mL as I literally had no top lip and a very thin bottom lip, and go to someone recommended and reputable (not just someone who's done a day course in fillers and does it from home!) then you'll not have a problem OP.

Should I get my lips filled?
JaneJeffer · 19/03/2019 13:42

Where does the filler go to? Is it absorbed by the body?

FruitCider · 19/03/2019 13:48

Lip fillers were designed for naturally full lips that have lost volume due to age. That's why they don't look good on thin lips.

This may have been true for early fillers but isn't correct for more modern preparations.

Good lip filler done well shouldn't be noticeable.

Most of my patients come to me because they have naturally thin lips or no top lip.

Pieceofpurplesky · 19/03/2019 13:50

@HugoBearsMummy great photo - sassy bride Smile

JinglingHellsBells · 19/03/2019 14:23

I have seen lips filled - on the lips of the medics who do it- they are quite open about what they have done.
I'd not have noticed otherwise.
You need to see someone good ideally a cosmetic dr. The one I'd ever go to has a 7-month waiting list though her team are more accessible.

Just don't ever have permanent fillers.

The others are all temporary and if you hate it they can inject you again to dissolve the filler.

The sad thing is that all these women's 'before' photos show lips 10 x fatter than my skinny lips! Am def thinking about it too!

If you want fillers that's fine but you don't "need" them.

HugoBearsMummy · 19/03/2019 14:42

@Pieceofpurplesky thank you lol 😂

gubbsywubbsy · 19/03/2019 15:45

I think the trout pout comment wasn't a personal attack . I can't help but think of Leslie ash when I think of lip fillers . I know they have come on a lot since then but she was so pretty before and ruined her face .
I'd love bigger lips but that puts me off🙈
