Should I get my lips filled?

VanillaSugarr · 18/03/2019 21:31

I have always had thin lips but now they’ve disappeared into a Resting Cat’s Bum Face. I’d love to get them filled but I’m too scared of getting a trout pout.

Has anyone got any advice or any recommendations ie
Hyaluaronic fillers? Dentist or beauty practitioner?

Thanks.

@Bloomburger - Ok then Hmm👍🏼

PCohle · 19/03/2019 17:53

I think a lot of lip fillers look good from the front but odd from the side.

I'm generally pretty open minded about minor cosmetic procedures / injectables but I think lip fillers rarely look good.

Do you overline your lips?

wishingitwasfriday · 19/03/2019 17:56

I think fillers tends to change the way the lips move when someone talks and that's why you can tell. A lady I work with has them and her facial expression when she speaks seems to change when they have been done. I have also seen many where the lips look a bit 'rubbery' but that may just be too much filler I guess.
It's not a natural thing and I don't think you can get funny about people noticing it's been done. It is what it is and as long as the individual thinks they look better then that's all that matters.

Palominoo · 19/03/2019 18:06

Lip fillers are always obvious to me as there is swelling/protrusion above the top lip that even with a small amount of filler is always noticeable.

Liz Hurley has lip fillers but has managed to look great.. Someone mentioned Michelle Keegan, I think she's ruined her face and just looks generic now.

PCohle · 19/03/2019 18:10

Palominoo yes, the swelling/ protrusion above the top lip is exactly what I mean. I think it looks odd in profile.

VanillaSugarr · 19/03/2019 18:16

Gosh, a mixed bag here. I would only go for temporary enhancement and I’m very scared of having an allergic reaction a la Lesley Ash.

Is it possible to have one lip done as my top lip is fuller than my bottom lip?

I feel happy when I have put in lots of lip liner and lipstick, but it always wears off.

Thank you everyone- a GP turned cosmetic DR lives near me so I might have an initial consultation.

Oh, and the PP who posted her wedding photo - you look lovely!!!

I think it is possible to only have it in one lip.

Sam from Pixiwoo a youtuber / Instagram type had lip filler and speaks quite openly about it and I have a feeling she did this (could be talking nonsense though). Her's looks really lovely and seems pretty undetectable to me. Might be worth looking up some of her posts about it?

Thedarklady · 19/03/2019 18:21

@fruitcider Sorry, that should have said lip fillers were designed for naturally full lips that have lost volume due to age. That's why they don't look as good on thin lips.

@HugoBearsMummy your filler was well done! Smile

Palominoo · 19/03/2019 18:22

My lips are OK but as I've got older they are less full but with subtle make up trickery they can look much fuller.

Lots of videos on Instagram.

I wo t have mine injected as I am a needle phobic and if I have a bad reaction then I would not cope well with looking bloody awful.

Thedarklady · 19/03/2019 18:46

Deciem NIOD The Bio-Lipid Lip Concentrate is supposed to be good in the meantime @vanillasugarr

VanillaSugarr · 19/03/2019 18:59

Ooh, I think Space NK sells Deciem, doesn’t it? I have a voucher Grin

A good dr will advise.

I had a consultation once and they tell you what you need once you have said what you'd like! I mean, they tell you what would work and which products they would use.

If they can't 'balance' your lips - see your question- they ought not to be in the business!

JinglingHellsBells · 19/03/2019 19:34

There is a lot of misinformation here. Someone like Tracy Mountford is the 'queen' of underdoing fillers. If people can 'tell' you've had too much by a crap practitioner.

Dextrodependant · 19/03/2019 19:47

When I had mine done he just did one injection in the very centre of the bottom lip as it was fuller than the top already.

I maybe living in Lala land but I honestly don't think mine are obvious, you may disagree @JudgeRindersMinder. Best side view & Straight on view I could find.

They do go very swollen and trouty in the first 3 days though.

Should I get my lips filled?
HugoBearsMummy · 19/03/2019 20:29

@VanillaSugarr thank you 😘
I'd say go to the consultation & discuss your options. There's no obligation to go ahead with anything! Good luck. Oh and I didn't find it hurt as they put masses of numbing cream on your lips beforehand I literally only felt the final injection (as it had begun to wear off)

HugoBearsMummy · 19/03/2019 20:30

@Dextrodependant your lips look fab 💋

Thedarklady · 19/03/2019 20:35

You can't tell @Dextrodependant

Drogosnextwife · 19/03/2019 21:02

I've been considering this for a while now but just don't know where to start looking for a good place to go!

BusterGonad · 20/03/2019 01:24

I'm not a lover of lip filler or Botox tbh, I think everyone is starting to look the same. I agree that Michelle Keegan looks like generic now. The problem is that women who are young, unlined, okay lips are getting stuff done and it just looks odd. I'm not talking about people with zero lips, or women who have really noticeable 11 lines etc but everyone seems to be having a top up of this and that and I don't think they look better for it. Everyone is starting to look like an extra from TOWIE!

From my professional experience thin lips with filler added look way more natural than ageing lips with filler added...

FruitCider · 20/03/2019 07:52

Not true, this only occurs when the vermillion border has been injected or the lip is overfilled.

pineapplebryanbrown · 20/03/2019 07:58

I suppose the problem is that you will only notice bad lip jobs and won't know if people have had good ones. I've seen 2 bad ones this week and it just looks so shiny and immobile.

TheNavigator · 20/03/2019 08:24

Don't - it is never a good call. Thin lips can look perfectly lovely & injecting something in them won't actually make them look better - just different. The women who have shared photos are very beautiful, but their lips undoubtedly look a bit 'odd' - when they speak it will be even more apparent.

JinglingHellsBells · 20/03/2019 08:32

That's your opinion @TheNavigator.
Sorry to be contentious but who are you to say these women look worse with filled lips?
Lips get thinner with age- mine are half the size they were in my 20s and I am seriously thinking about it as they make me look old and mean :) If it's done well, by an expert like Dr Mountford, no one would know they were filled.
I've been for a consultation and both she and her staff have had fillers- i can assure you they don't look odd and they certainly don't look differently when they speak!

PCohle · 20/03/2019 08:38

I mean the OP did post asking for people's opinions on whether she should get lip fillers.

I'm not sure why you're so upset at people saying no because they are usually quite obvious. I agree with Navigator for what it's worth, but that's just my opinion...

Those who have or would like lip fillers are quite defensive it would seem.
