Should I get my lips filled?

VanillaSugarr · 18/03/2019 21:31

I have always had thin lips but now they’ve disappeared into a Resting Cat’s Bum Face. I’d love to get them filled but I’m too scared of getting a trout pout.

Has anyone got any advice or any recommendations ie
Hyaluaronic fillers? Dentist or beauty practitioner?

Thanks.

but their lips undoubtedly look a bit 'odd' - . No they don’t navigator and if they do, then I want that “odd”. This is Style & Beauty, not AIBU. Yes, I asked for opinions but I would like constructive comments, not an assassination of PP’s appearances. Please leave that type of comment on other threads.

They don’t look odd in the slightest Hmm

PCohle · 20/03/2019 08:54

Ok, best of luck.

@HugoBearsMummy and @dextrodependant, please accept my apologies for being such a grumpy judgmental cow, you are both beautiful women, and have had excellent practitioners, if I had a hat I’d be eating it now.

NiteFlights · 20/03/2019 10:07

If you have had a very subtle lip filler, does it look natural without makeup? Both ladies who’ve shared their photos look lovely but are wearing full make-up. I know some women might not mind this if they always wear lipstick but I’d be interested to know.

MustardMonster · 20/03/2019 10:20

Have a look at The Consultant Clinic. They have an Instagram account which is very good and they are really informative about finding the right practitioner. There's no way on earth I'd go to a beautician type person for fillers. Go to a qualified doctor.

CC have clinics in a few places in the UK and are the best results I've seen.

JinglingHellsBells · 20/03/2019 11:17

I can't emphasise enough the need to have a consultation. If I were going to do this I'd go to the best not a beautician.
I'd go to a cosmetic dr who is renowned for subtle work.
As I posted upthread you can have the fillers dissolved if you hate them.

It's also an age thing- I bet a lot of the 'anti' fillers brigade are young. I'm in my 60s and my mouth is like a slit in a pie and looks ageing as it's also drooping at the corners slightly. There is no way I want a trout pout but I would like something a bit more like I had in my 20s and 30s. I'd be looking at something that was 25-50% more than what I have now.

No trouts in sight.

Thanks but I'm pretty clued-up on make up and lipliner- it only works so far- otherwise it looks ridiculous. And of course it only works while you wear make up! (Which I do but not 24/7!)

HugoBearsMummy · 20/03/2019 12:04

@JudgeRindersMinder 😘

Dextrodependant · 20/03/2019 12:07

Thanks @JudgeRindersMinder I appreciate the apology.

The lip fillers that are really noticeable are the ones that give it a bad name. If it's done well you wouldn't know it's been done.

@NiteFlights I am not wearing lipstick today, I am full of a cold so no point. I also have pretty chapped lips because of the cold but here is my un adorned mouth for your research Grin

Should I get my lips filled?
Ablemaybel · 20/03/2019 13:37

Lesley Ash had permanent fillers injected into her lips that became intertwined with tissue so couldn't be removed. She was in a documentary about her experience.

Fillers today only last several months before they break down and are absorbed into the body.

I have a couple of friends that have had lip fillers and you would never know.

HugoBearsMummy · 20/03/2019 16:59

@TheNavigator @PCohle perhaps you would like to share a photo of your profile so we can judge whether or not you both have 'odd' features... My DH is the most honest person going & if my mouth did indeed look odd when I spoke then he'd be the first to pipe up & tell me as he wasn't overly keen on me having them done in the first place.

@NiteFlights I haven't got any photos of me without lippy on and because they are due to be topped up this month there wouldn't be much point me sharing one with you now as they aren't as plump but yes they do look natural without makeup on, but I find wearing lippy makes them look bigger especially bright colours.,

PCohle · 20/03/2019 17:14

I don't want to, and that's exactly the point. I didn't put up pictures of my face on a public forum as a shining example of undetectable cosmetic work and ask for comments.

"So you could tell I'd had lip fillers from 20 paces and I look like I have a trout pout do I?"

"I honestly don't think mine are obvious, you may disagree"

If you are happy with your appearance then surely that's all that matters?

To be fair I wouldn't have said anything about my thoughts because commenting directly on someone else's appearance is a bit mean. However I thought the slagging off Navigator was getting for expressing her opinion under what I think were fair circumstances was a bit harsh, and I was probably over hasty in jumping to agree with her. I of course apologise if I've hurt your feelings.

TheNavigator · 20/03/2019 17:45

I am also sorry if I hurt your feelings, although you were inviting comment. I also said you are very beautiful. I certainly don't consider myself to be especially attractive and would never put up my photo on a forum to be judged, for that reason.

Dextrodependant · 20/03/2019 19:03

I wasnt offended by your opinion and I am very happy with my lips. I put the photo oso the OP could judge for herself.

If its it's something she is keen on then why not give her examples to look at.

Each to their own.

BusterGonad · 21/03/2019 00:19

Dextrin your lips look nice but they do have the filler pout which gives the game away.

Sparklepunk · 21/03/2019 03:29

Go and see Dr Rita Rakus, she is fabulous and not called ‘the London lip queen’ for nothing!

NiteFlights · 21/03/2019 09:49

@Dextrodependant thanks, that was kind of you! Your lips do look full but they look pretty natural (and very nice) to me. Hope your cold gets better soon.

SlipperOrchid · 21/03/2019 11:21

Trinny Woodall has lip fillers and I have NO doubt she goes to a reputable clinic. But they are still very obvious and fake looking. But for some people that doesn’t matter and they are still happier than they would be without them. It is similar to people who apply the wrong colour fake tan and apply it badly. Even though others may think they look silly, the people themselves obviously like it.

Danni91 · 21/03/2019 11:38

I love thin lips on people.
I think it just adds character to the face.
My lips are boring in the middle not really anything. I have considered fillers once but I am far too scared.

TheNavigator · 21/03/2019 19:36

I think fake tan is a good comparison. Or those huge fake nails, big eyebrows and false lashes that are so popular at the moment. They don't look natural, but a lot of women obviously think they look good.

VanillaSugarr · 21/03/2019 19:38

I hate my thin lips.
